Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Why...in the HELL...does Arthur still get knocked down after his armor runs out! And why can you not tag out of this to try to save him? Why? He's not as threatening in this as he was in a game with lvl 3 xfactor and gold armor. All he has are tag mixups and stone stuff like the rest of the cast!

Stupid ass gimmick. No super should fuck you over that hard.

Its funny how modders changed that in P: UMVC3 (they also made his armor refreshable as long as he's in it and has a meter to burn)

Capcom hopefully will change a few things before release

To be fair: certain effects (especially anything lightning or electricity based) looked pretty not ok in 3

what? you think the anemic lookin' lightning effects in 4 are better?

hell, if you color-shift thor's to blue like it is in infinite it looks even tighter

Really? If you're going to put this stupid non relavent midget nobody cares about instead of Phoenix Wright or Vergil at least make him good

As far as mixed emotions go for a single game/franchise release ever... This is easily number 1.

I cant remember a greater rollercoaster of emotions for anything like this outside of an actual human relationship. I will be there day 1, the same way I dated a crazy exgirlfriend on and off.

This game is the equivalent of, the sex was mind blowing but she's crazy

Speaking of which I love that this game's Iron Man is exactly like the movie version with a cheaper actor. His roast of Arthur had me giggling

Yeah the Iron Man in here and other games including MvC3 is the same actor as their animated shows. Personally don't like his voice, but they made him (and all other marvel characters now) similar to their movie versions. Could not sit through the current Marvel animated shows because of all the movie one liners and attempts to make it sound exactly like said movies.

Anyway onto the game.

I thought this played a lot better than I was hoping. I like the way it felt. Only issue I have is some of the visuals still. Seems like chromatic abberation was turned up to 11. Also have a hard time making out the characters from the background, they seem to blend a bit too much imo. Wondering how long the story mode could possibly be/how good it could be as well given that is all seems pre-rendered cutscenes... I'm assuming this thing is like 2 hours long at the moment.

It's gonna bum me out that in all cases. MVC3 will be the better aging game in 10 years graphically due to it's style.

I called SFV failing, and I think MVC:I will do the same. It's SFxT all over again.

This is what I fear the most. Even myself as a Capcom stan am having apprehensions on buying it despite enjoying the demo and all the videos we've seen thus far. There is just a lot of carelessness that I think I'm starting to reach a point where I'm getting exhausted of seeing the same BS from Capcom, despite wanting them to win. But I also really don't want to see this game be another SFxT, its gameplay potential is amazing and I would like to see it thrive competitively.

Idk. Maybe later on during the coming months I'll feel differently but right now all this dickery is, for the first time ever, taking a hit on my own excitement to play it. And if I'm starting to feel that way I can't imagine the numbers who feel similarly or worse.

According to a leak the cutscenes alone are 2 and a half hours

Your mistake in thinking Capcom wants Arthur to be a serious playable character... LUL!

Yet Mega Man X's armor didn't cause any knock down.. Weird.

Yoooo the range on Iron Man's repulsar LMAO

Tony and Clint looking dope. Hawkeye got a number of new arrow types it seems? Some Hawkeye air loops reminiscent of combos from Ultimate too.

This game looks fun and Mahvel as hell.

The new Proton Cannon looks like a fisher price toy, I don't like it

Yea, it's different from the Reveal build right?

Also why? Is this a new reference to a comic?

LOL @ hard knockdown on Gimlet...
You know one thing I do think they're actively aware of after SFV? People being upset toys were taken away from beta to beta. Might explain why they've slowrolled playable PvP demos, cause clearly the game's been in a very playable state for a while.

It's probably been noted, but the magic pixel is back.

This game is going to play a lot different from MvC3 in a lot of ways. If your 2nd character is healthy, there's no big reason I can think of why you wouldn't active switch and keep the combo going out of hyper. I think I'm beginning to understand how freeform the gameplay is, and it just looks so damn smooth. Combo to hyper to continue to combo, and back to neutral, and it just keeps going.

Seriously, the hit box on that repulsar is so stupid. I can't complain though, Iron Man getting some real juice after all these years.

Also Happy Birthday'd characters take a LOT less damage than point characters. The opposite effect than in Marvel 3.

I think it's the same as the reveal build but it's change for the sake of change and feeling fresh. They don't want to be called out for reusing assets, so everything is being remade even if some (i.e. Thor) end up looking more similar than others.

i need more like those combofiend v champ matches, damn, that was good. Those new tag shenanigans are crazy.

Why would Gimlet be a particularly good hyper to tag out of? It's a single short hit.
You get a combo out of it from any point in the screen and the tag makes it safe.

You get all the advantages of Gimlet (almost instant, omnidirectional, full screen) without the disadvantages (super unsafe, can't combo off of it).

But that's going to apply to a lot of other hypers as well. Most hypers you can just use to lock them down and go for mix ups. Or you can randomly throw one out, hope that it hits and tag to continue the combo.

That's the type of random stuff that the pros are going to hate... yolo hyper activation into tag to get a combo.

I just randomly came across this video again:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcyxFNuQlwo

"I am not a real nig-- gah!" *sobs*

"I wanted to money match so they can seriously and because it's hype as fuck!"

Man Marvel Infinite can be a garbage game but you know there's going to be people playing it and getting hyped/worked up over it. SF will always be tame in comparison to it, Marvel Infinite still going to light it up!

And people thought Punk doing his "tea bag" was disrespectful... this is REAL disrespect here:

That kid is how I imagine your average member of the alt-right to be.

After watching that in-depth gameplay demonstration with Combofiend and Yipes, it changed my perspective about the gameplay. It's actually Marvel-esque and true to the series despite being a little bit simple. The tag system and the whole DI on your jumps is nice.

Aesthetics aside, the gameplay doesn't look too bad anymore despite being floatier. I really hope they'd reverse the down-down input for DP's, because I still really don't like that. It's awkward as hell to input.

This game is no more floatier than 3 was

nah, it's way floatier but it's very specifically because of the screen space redesign

when chars jump/superjump they have the same hangtime as marvel 3. however, due to the closed in screen space and lack of true fly/SJ screen they just kinda end up floating up and down like they were goin' through jello rather than air as to maintain the same hangtime as marvel 3

it's really weird given how smooth the airdashes are, especially on regular jumps b/c reg jumps have the same 'speed' that SJs do so they drag like how arthur jumps in 3 rather than the regular jumps of most of the cast or wolv's fast jump arc
