Man, rewatching NLBC and it's so apparent everyone is at various stages of learning the game or actually integrating things into their gameplay. People still doing BnBs instead of Level 3s when they're infinity meter is running down, minimal projectile reflecting, etc.

That set combo was fun to watch, Tasty Steve was losing his mind over that. I feel like some people are gonna be surprised by how crazy this game gets when they get their first glimpse of how the pros play at SCR.

As I briefly listened to the sound test, I heard plenty of obvious win quotes that somehow weren't used. Makes me wonder why they only went with one instead of the bunch of others they had.
Justin knew it was an IG tournament and doesn't need the money from SCR.
I don't think you can cancel into any specials, only supers. Yeah kinda messed up they took that away from him. Maybe they figured it could he used to combo off of with the tag system, but that's tough.
What's IG? It's not about the money it's about the prestige and the history. This will be the first ever MVCI major. He won the first major for Marvel 3 too.

Justin isn't competing because he doesn't think it's fair given that he's had the game for 3 more days then a huge chunk of the people competing since he got it early. He complained when someone else competed in a similar situation so at least he's being consistent.

I saved up a bunch of my spending money to buy costumes but since there's no store I just spent my money on stuff in the xbl store. I'm used to games as a service though and costumes to me are the least offensive DLC plus I hate most of these basic ass costumes.
Shame the game wasn't all that great but I really loved the concept art and the updated designs for the classic characters like solo and tong poo too.

Yeah I think people have a leg up and are still adjusting, but this is one of the most exciting times in a game's lifespan.
Who knows what exploits we'll see in a month.
BTW does anyone have a link to the Fanatiq/Clock match archive? Can't seem to find it scrubbing through the twitch archive or on the leveluplive YouTube channel.

Yeah, but it's just ripped from Monster Hunter Tri. It's not like it's a new piece of anything. Still sounds better than 90% of the rest of the music though (and way better than the Monster Hunter's theme).
Also, how the fuck is it that this is the first game with a made from scratch HD model of Dahren Moran? God dammit Capcom.
They didn't actually run much MvCI on the main leveluplive stream, it was done over on kevin_ha channel. I'll see if I can find the timestamp for it because I want to watch it again...

I'm new to MvC, so Infinite is my first MvC that I am trying to learn and have fun. I read a previous post about what characters are "Support" and "Point," but some pros on Twitter have been using "synergy" in regards to selecting characters. Are they the same thing? I feel like I'm just selecting my favorite characters with no rhyme or reason right now, but I'm sure when the dust settles character pairings will be more defined. Maybe?

Yeah, there were quite a few. I can understand missing a few, but there's literally only 1 victory line for everyone.
Remember Galactus's "How dare you. I must now squash you like the bug that you are!!" KO sound in MVC3? I was actually surprised that was in UMVC3 when he had an actual screaming KO audio in the sound files. Most assumed Galactus was meant to be a longer fight, which makes sense.

The Support/Point thing is an attempt to provide a framework for the "Synergy" point. "Synergy" just means two characters working better together than either works in a vacuum. "Support/Point" means that some are better as the point character you use to open the other person up, while the other support character is better at setting up opportunities for the point character to get in.

I am going to be making a giant MVCI guide/primer for new players soon on a Google document. There are 0 resources for the game right now, all the information is scattered and information is always being dolled out in relative terms to previous MVC games which makes things confusing for new players.
I will also be linking combos and other guides in that document for characters if I can find any.
Like I see people asking for questions and while I have some answers, I think it's better to actually have a resource that can be updated.
So I will be attempting to explain stuff like synergy, point vs support and team structure/examples.

Yeah, w/ people just experimenting. Basically think of support as characters who are good at creating an assist and letting you tag in the other guy, but are kinda awkward on their own in neutral.
Remember the whole "create your own assist" thing from Skullgirls? The MvC:I tag system is basically that expanded for every character w/ every tag.

Gamora is a monster. All the female characters are going to get heavy use in the near term TBH.
This game is bonkers to watch, they've done a really good job of forcing offense, but even when there's keepaway I feel it's pretty tense and effective. But it's still early.
That would be greatly appreciated, Dahbomb. Marvel always looks so fast-paced with a shitload going on, and as a newcomer, I have no idea where to start learning. Tekken GAF and its Discord were instrumental in helping me learn that game. Hoping your efforts will be the beginning of something similar for MvCi.
Hmm I'll have to take a look myself. Are they at the end of the voice clips? Maybe something to do with lip syncing or something.
I felt this way too but the more and more I watch the game the less critical I am of the scaling.
Someone was deliberately opening combos with hypers and then doing normal combos to gain meter after- I forget who though.
