shes been shown playable and even has a move set out there, she seems to be feature complete and has a trailer.

youre right, what was I thinking assuming she will be the first released.

The problem with Marvel is that a character with her options, mobility, and speed shouldn't be able to plow through like the regular armored characters, not the way she currently can.
Their attacks are slow and can easily be stuffed and they don't have no where near as many way to approach an opponent.

It does not work as everyone else's because she has passive armor, other characters have to actually use their moves and have to get to the portion of the move that has armor. Meaning you can actually beat those armor moves if you attack fast enough as many of them are slow because they are big body characters. You can't do that against Captain Marvel's armor, she has armor just walking or dashing through.

And since when was Captain Marvel put in the same bracket as a "big body" character? She has all the advantages of a big body without the negatives. Why would anyone want to play a big body character that isn't Captain Marvel?

It's not about throwing out dumb stuff, it's about her negating complete archetypes. The hell is Arthur supposed to do against her? What about Chris, Hawkeye and MMX? She is fast enough to get close to them and at that point her faster moves will beat out their heavies and her armor will beat out their lights and projectiles.

That I agree with she's very mobile her slide into storm function while armored is just............ yea.
 
it also seems to last a really long time. The armor install I mean.

So the input after Volcano is, QCF, up/forward + H, H.

The up forward turns it into a tiger knee motion and you get the jump cancel into Crystal into Revolver.

Wow 1K lower HP and she has a long ranged slide, a j.HK that crosses up and her Blitz move that has insane priority and speed which you can combo off of and is safe.


her armor does seem pretty good. but its always a bit funny seeing people ask for nerfs week 1

I am asking them to fix something that runs opposite to what it states in the official overview of the character. This is more in the realm of bug fix than nerfing a character. The official overview of the character clearly states that she can absorb ONE attack, not "as many attacks as possible until the buff runs out".

Captain marvels damage screams big body she's just way too mobile to hit as hard as she does.

Chris magnum shot or flamethrower strips her armor not sure about Hawkeyes and I think several of Arthur's projectiles stop her also. I get your points just think there are ways to deal with her that don't involve a week 1 nerf. I mean if that's the case Dormammu and Ultron could stand to take a few week 1 hits as well as chum gamora and spidey. I'm just not a big fan of nerfs before a meta is really established because there is always an early case for several character nerfs in fighting games. They usually sort themselves out given time unless it's way overboard.
 
Haggar's barrel is hilarious. It has more invincibility if you hold it out and do nothing. If you press a direction after someone breaks the barrel in his hands, iframes ends early. Basically if someone is punching that barrel on the ground, you can safely level 3 them in the face. The normal command grab takes some timing if something is right on top of you like a meaty fireball, but if someone is trying to poke it with a normal on the ground, you usually can do it.

Also the last few frames of time surge is super cancellable, and the i frames are still present up until you do the super. So what I tested is iron man doing reality stone and mashing jab after. I go through the reality stone and see what supers I can get off on him without getting jabbed. Basically command grab supers will avoid the reality stone and grab iron man out of trying to jab you out of the end of the time surge. Invincible lvl3s work like Ryu's Shin Shoryuken, but Chun's has an issue is that she lands it but in the middle of that second set of kicks before it gets to the animation part, the reality stone can come back and hit her before it gets to that point. Thor is CRAZY with time stone. Basically if you are on the ground and you see him time stone with meter, jump! Because you can't interrupt the attempt, and it does 4450 damage for 1 bar. For reference Haggar's lvl3 only does 5500 for 3 bars for some reason.

Can you guys give me a list of other lvl1 animation supers, grabs, or stuff with iframes? I want to test some more stuff.

edit: I'm gonna test against stalking flare in about an hour after I get some errands out of the way.

my post wasnt for you, it was for lone dragon. The person that posted before me, saying shes not confirmed to be the first (which is technically true mind you)
 
So I'm playing around in training, and if you piano the inputs of hk to lk, or hp to lo, it actually counts it as press both at the same time, and moves that require that still come out even though the input display shows it as individual inputs.

Odd.

She's just an amazing and strong character.

People arguing otherwise are short-sighted. And yeah she probably should get a nerf on the armor because it doesn't seem to be intended to last that long. If it stays? We'll figure it out counterplay but again you'd be short-sighted to think she isn't gonna be ridiculous in this game.

Yep, I mean if that was fixed to work as they described it in the trailer, she'd still be an air dash character with a great beam super, great install super, great damage and a situational armor powerup move.

Hardly "ruined".

The armor isn't going to stay 100%.

It's not a matter of it, it's a matter of when. The sooner people accept it, the better off they will be when the change finally comes.


I say the same for Gamora's gun shots as well. I definitely do not think that she is supposed to be able to beat hypers with her guns.


I don't have anything against these characters personally. Hell there are some things wrong with Dante too (like cr.LK into Million Stabs being an overhead) that should probably be fixed. But obvious problems are obvious and should be talked about rather than swept under the rug with a "let this shit rock" or "lul talking about nerfs week 1".


You know Vanilla Marvel 3 had a lot of obvious problems week 1 that weren't fixed until 6 months after. These problems were obvious to anyone who has been playing these games for a while. Wolverine has fully invincible Berserker Charge that made zoning him impossible. Dante had invincible Hammer which made one of his weaknesses (getting rushed down) almost not be a factor. Phoenix had tracking fireball that didn't disappear when she got hit (sound familiar? she had Reality stone as a move only even that move didn't generate frame 1). Then you had the DHC glitch and other random stuff like XF1 killing 3 characters with relative ease and meter gain being so high.

Eh, it's super fun to have and gives a nice balance to the fact that her supers damage her. I could see increasing the start up since it's super easy to turn on it safely right now though.

The armor seems like a bug. The tutorial video Capcom put out said it absorbs 1 hit, but Carol can walk through multi-hitting attacks and multiple individual attacks.

Captain Marvel players should expect it to get changed and not rely on it too much.

It IS a bug but people think calling it out means you are asking to nerf a top tier character due to knee jerk reaction.

Knee jerk reaction to top tier character would be if I wanted Ultron nerfed in a general sense without talking about which of his tools is "too good" and why. My argument would be "Ultron is everywhere nerf him!" which is a bad argument to make. Hence why I haven't even brought up Ultron in any conversation about game fixes.

...right, but this is about Captain Marvel who has a special move that gives her super armor. The official character tutorial says it's supposed to absorb 1 hit but it just lasts for awhile. You're basically giving the benefit of a heavy to a much more mobile character with a more diverse moveset.

Her armor also isn't consistent as seen linked above because sometimes lights go through?

I'm pretty sure her armor is by design, and that the tutorial is wrong. one hit of armor absorption for light attacks only would be useless.

Not really because jabs are usually the go to confirm, people jab like crazy in these games because they can get full combos off them. If you are both throwing out normals, she has the advantage. Also going through one projectile is pretty important, especially because reality stone is a extremely popular option. It's not like she is committing to a normal like Hulk or Nemesis, she just throws it up as a buff and does whatever she wants.
 
Man, can't get the timing right to use Nemesis's rocket super after a ground bounce. Need to know how to delay my air combo without letting the opponent drop out.

One hit for Light is still pretty good as you can use your Blitz to power through people hitting their lights. It's very unlikely that they will get to hit their second light in a row while you are in the middle of your own attack.

But more importantly, one hit of armor can still go through projectiles like Reality stone. It makes it so that you can get in on opponents throwing errant fireballs but makes it so that you can't completely negate an archetype by just dashing through their barrage of projectiles.

No, it doesn't OTG. However if you time it right it is possible to catch an opponent with it after you land from an air combo thanks to the bounce at the end but right now I can only time it right like once every 4 attempts. Following it up with a tag is more difficult but I just want to mess around with that right now. Might be useful to get more damage mid screen if Nemesis is alone at least since he's too slow to catch them himself.
 
man sonicfox still has a lot of work to do on his fundamentals in marvel but his corner pressure with Jedah/RR is probably the most oppressive thing I've seen so far. If he gets you in a corner it seems like it'd be almost impossible to get out.
 
I just accomplished a goal, spent 45 mins on this combo. As a complete MvC novice I am very proud of nailing this. Literally only just found out and taught myself air dashes and flight cancel thanks to a brief tutorial.

That's a very solid combo especially for a MVC novice! My only recommendation is to cut down on the lights while doing the air dash loops, you can squeeze out more damage if you do.

Now you have to learn how to land that first hit in a real match which is more important!
