The Marvel movie universe isn't nearly big enough to do Civil War properly. Heck, it's just big enough to do The Avengers.

Very nice. You see the Capt taking on his leadership role there.

You do realize trailers are edited to hell and back and often feature scenes not in the movie (sometimes). Relax man.

But I was told that there hasn't been any trolling in here recently.

Wouldn't a Black Panther movie be hard to do because people would associate it with the political group?

Yes. Marvel would either need to change his name, or I dunno, have another superhero co-star in his movie.

You guys, having a Civil War story line would be too much right now. The movie Universe isn't well establish to do a Civil War story justice.

And it probably will never happen with Sony holding on to Spider-Man and Fantastic Four considering how big of a role they both played in the story.

Also, I hated Captain America in that story line. It just felt like he was being a dick for the sake of the story and nothing else.

So somebody I work with and whose opinion I generally trust saw a preview screening last night and said it was pretty fucking awesome.

Yeah all the impressions so far seem to be extremely positive. I'm still keeping expectations in check because Marvel films so far for me tend to be a little bit worse than the impressions reviewers have of them but I am now going into this expecting a good film.

I eagerly await impressions on this. I've stopped watching clips for this after I watched the one with
Thor and Iron Man throwing down.

Ah yeah. Getting great reviews so far. Love it. Can't wait for all the doubters to eat some hot steaming plate of crow.

All of these films have received decent reviews, doesn't stop me from feeling cold and disillusioned after leaving the theater.

That just sounds depressing. Christ. :lol

Pretty sure the last time I left the cinema feeling like that... actually it was Sherlock Holmes 2. But before that, probably Shrek 3.

I know Thor and Cap had solid tomatometers, but the average rating was a little lower, and was probably more accurate regarding the quality of the film itself.

At any rate, Iron Man is the only Marvel movie that's actually awesome. Hoping the Avengers joins that party.

The movie is just what you expect to kick off the summer. I went in with low expectations and came out with a giant grin. Tons of action, humor, and more action. Everyone plays their roles perfectly and it should make bank during it's run.

So best one yet?

Better than Thor, Hulk, Cap, and IM2. Not sure how I would fare it against SPM 2 and IM1 still got to let it sink for a bit. Ruffalo = perfect as Hulk.

Hollywood Reporter review is up.

THR said:
The All-Star Game of modern superhero extravaganzas, The Avengers is humongous, the film Marvel and its legions of fans have been waiting for. It's hard to imagine that anyone with an appetite for the trademark's patented brand of fantasy, effects, mayhem and strangely dressed he-men will be disappointed; not only does this eye-popping 3D display of visual effects fireworks feature an enormously high proportion of action scenes, but director Joss Whedon has adroitly balanced the celebrity circus to give every single one of the superstar characters his or her due. Worldwide box office returns will be, in a word, Marvelous.

I meant so far lol. Of course TDKR will outclass Avengers in every way.

TDKR will be riding in the humdrumvee. Avengers is in the funvee.

Both will do well and be good. But Avengers will be a lot more fun.

And yeah...Junior with a name TDK Rises with matching avatar promoting the same movie? Viral marketer?

My local theater has: imax 3d, real 3d, and rpx (regal premium experience). Any suggestions on what to go to? I'm curious about RPX...

I could not be any more indifferent leaning boredom towards anything avengers.

How is Iron Man in it? Less terrible than IM2?

nah, just a huge fan. Got to be a featured extra on the Pittsburgh set, doubt I make the final cut though.

Fun isn't the first word I would associate with the most recent Marvel films. I just want it to be what everyone so far is saying it is.

Being "fun" is not mutually exclusive to being an exciting movie, but you'll keep pounding this "more fun" drum anyway so why am I replying.

I also don't understand the 'fun' argument. It is all about which is more entertaining. Entertainment comes in many different forms. Why watch Munich, when I can watch Police Academy 6: Mission Moscow? IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE SAYING MR. BONE?
