But you were arguing that those measures shouldn't be implemented.

Make up your mind.

You can't complain about NBA shutting down games and simultaneously point out countries that did implement those measures.
I'm complaining about NBA suspending the season!!?? Where?

When France reports it will push us over the top

Seriously? People said the same thing 2 months ago when they pulled out all their exponential charts. According to them millions should be already infected globally. Now people try to pick out individual countries to push the same narrative after those global charts didn't work out.

It's not like there aren't any counter measures being implemented. Where's the exponential infection rates in South Korea? They seem to already decline rapidly.

The problem with exponential charts is they are basically just screen shots based on conditions as they are at the time the chart is made. They dont (cant) take in any changes of policy beyond what is going on in the moment. So if the chart is based on a time where there is a large spike, it will just project that spike out regardless of anything else that might be in the works. So they arent necessarily wrong, theyre just static. Pretty much any charts from last week should probably be thrown in the trash since there has been so many countries and organization cancelling big events that these models cant possibly stay accurate.

Florida Sen. Rick Scott will self-quarantine after potential contact with infected Brazilian official

Sen. Rick Scott, a Florida Republican, said Thursday he would self-quarantine after potentially coming into contact with a Brazilian government aide who tested positive for coronavirus.
"My office was alerted today by the Brazilian Embassy that a member of President Bolsonaro’s delegation tested positive for Coronavirus. On Monday, I met with the President in Miami, and while I do not believe I interacted with the infected person, that individual was in the same room as me. The Embassy said the person had no symptoms leading up to or the day of the conference," Scott said in a statement.
He said that while doctors told him his risk was low and that he didn't need to take a test nor quarantine, he would do so out of an abundance of caution.

no you are missing those who are still sick. Have not died and have not recovered yet.

Also that it's likely that the vast majority of people who have it have not even been tested. You aren't counted in the confirmed cases unless you test positively.

The Johns Hopkins expert on Sam Harris said he expects the mortality rate to be around 0.6% overall when all is said and done. He bases that on South Korea having that reported mortality rate and them being so far the most advanced and up to date in the testing standards so far.

He isn’t sure why Italy’s is so high, he has theories(like older patients) but he thinks they will be the anomaly in terms of mortality rate.

Actually your right. It was manus who was complaining. My point stands though.

If he got his wishes and things continued as normal we'd have a lot of dead people. (That's why I pointed out mortality rates and the expected number of infected is a few weeks)

This makes me wonder if old people are dying more because they aren’t getting the same level of treatment.
some medical staff have already been hinting that 'hard choices' will be made if a hospital gets overwhelmed,
it means they are going to have to choose who lives and who dies because they can't get to everyone.

Are these the "death panels" that wise sage Sarah Palin warned us about????

I haven't had a chance to see it, but is that assuming people get the treatment they need? Because it's obviously much higher when the medical system gets overwhelmed like in Italy.

Yes, that factors in as well. But I think he’s talking overall globally factoring in everything.

Vice has a documentary on bananas that talks of a strain destroying most crops, as a similar one did decades back. We never learn.
That's because those bananas were all genetically identical and didn't have any evolved/naturally selected defenses against that particular disease. I'm not sure if "preparation" really applies to that case.

well thats it my office gave out a "Please work from home tomorrow" email with a suggestion that anyone who wants to work remotely next week do so. dang. i could get used to this!

picking up some w33d this weekend. gotta stay high. picking up water right now. gotta stay hydrated.

was thinking of ordering a bunch of water over Amazon and then contemplated the Death Stranding situation of this delivery person hauling my water all while trying not to touch or get near anybody.

NASCAR will race without fans
from what i heard, it is actually dreadfully boring to be at these races, all you do is stand in the sun and drink to pass the time. you are usually in one spot, watching the cars go around. it's a way more interesting sport to watch filmed IMO.

A friend of mine just texted that he is at the super market and it's "worse than the day before Thanksgiving". I'm glad we've been stockpiling stuff here and there for the last two weeks (no toilet paper, calm down).

unfortunately avoiding testing is not a good look, when everyone's eyes are on you to lead.

fun fact common cold is a type of coronavirus lol
Did he said that he's avoiding testing? Even if he did say so i guess it would be just to not panic (even more) the stock markets.

Yeah but it's not THE coronavirus. :p
