Actually looking closer i think they are mean to be doctors or nurses. They have sleeves that look like scrubs while the other normal hands dont have these types of sleeves.

Has Emperor Newsom ever seen a beach? They're huge, open, have tons of room to walk, and have lots of breeze and wind that circulates the air. It's far safer, for this, than walking around in a stuffy supermarket or a small cramped sidewalk. A beach is one of the easiest places to stay far apart from other people.

This is the point - these restrictions are arbitrary and incoherent. But I don't think these people really care about this, they care about power.

The area near the beach is cooler. This is why people want to move to San Francisco, the properties of a large body of water cool the area around it. When it's 90 or even 110 in Sacramento it's 70 or 80 in San Francisco. Due to a variety of factors related to it's proximity to the beach, it's pretty much ideal weather in San Francisco year round.


Edit: Also, it's pretty common for houses in CA not to have air conditioning, or to have air conditioning that really isn't sufficient for the level of heat we get.

And the houses without AC get hotter than the outside temp. So Emperor Newsom is just risking more death from the heat with his edicts.

As far as Newsom closing down the beaches, yeah its some horseshit and I think its wrong, but shoving a thumb in the eye of those insufferable Huntington Beach types brings a smile to my face.

People who haven't experienced it have no idea. I live in a house that doesn't have air conditioning. It does get hotter, and it doesn't cool down till the sun has been down for 4-5 hours. On the 110 degree days (luckily we usually don't have to many of those) I sweat in my sleep and wake up to drink water.

We live out near the desert. No AC but we use a swamp cooler.
 
We have hardly any homes here (UK) with AC but when it was nearly 40C last year, the last place I would have wanted to be was out in the open, on the beach. No shade. Ouch.

I mean they did get that check and still dont have ac? Did they spend it on beach supplies? Hell i live in the high desert and it gets hotter and we're not complaining. You could also qualify for assistance from i think its GE or Edison and get a swamp cooler for free.

Same. Last time I click on a Covid thread anywhere too. I disagree with how it's being done here, but fuck it. Wife and I's incomes are unaffected so we'll just keep self isolating and saving a ton of money from not going out and doing things and let the idiots do what they want to do.

I feel bad for the people who want to keep isolating but get forced to go back to work or lose unemployment, but there's nothing I can do about it so I'm done stressing over it. Elections have consequences and more of these folk should have voted, or voted differently, a couple years ago if they didn't want a governor who'd put business interests above the health of the working class.

You think everyone keeps the necessary distance from each other on a beach? are you an idiot or something? Mostly its in small groups of two-three together, and groups clumped together at busy times. All the sun and air won't make up for that level of risk; which is pretty clear y'know from life experiences.

Yea, two or three people, like a husband and wife for example? You know, people who are already being forced to be in close proximity 24/7 thanks to Newsom's decrees? Are their kids allowed to hang out with them on the vast expanse of the open beach? What's the matter with you?

whats stopping different households from meeting up NOW? What is stopping kids from playing with each other on the cramped sidewalk? Is the government going door to door to make sure nobody is interacting? Are the police monitoring every sidewalk to make sure kids from different houses aren't playing? Come on, this is crazy. Think this through.

I can speak to my own observations walking around NYC, people are chatting on stoops... and keeping their distance. It's almost like people can be expected to make rational decisions without being forced to separate by order of a tyrant governor-king.
