Agreed, something is fishy. I presume it's a delay. The RKI Dashboard, while slower, is better when comparing numbers. The Update from this evening should give an better idea.

Texas is rising because companies are requiring testing to come back to work. I heard from a doctor yesterday that said that over 70% of all positives they are getting now are asymptomatic people trying to go back to their jobs that are now reopened.
Basically the 20-40 demographic is finally getting massive testing and showing this thing for what it really is.
I am not trying to say that C19 isn't dangerous to old people, unluckly people with bad genetics, immune compromised fats, or anything like that, but for your average worker this thing is less severe than the flu.
The media, and the greedy healthcare system want you scared as shit though. In my city they are now hospitalizing people for having a fever alone because they want the money they lost by shutting down procedures for two months.
I am pretty sure Hospitals get money from the government for each C19 patient they admit as well (13k is the number a heard).
We need to let this thing burn through and get herd immunity. You either live or you die, and given I have type A blood I could die, but who knows, maybe I already had it.

Herd immunity is not a option , Te Netherlands is much smaller and we only have achieved 5% and most was in the peak. And our health care almost collapsed , it would turn into a complete shit show if you pursue this.
It would take us more than 2 years with measures we have now in place.
If you let this spread you would end up globally higher than Spanish Flu , which took 60 million lives .
And people who survive are damaged for life .

Uhh, 3 of my employees, and two of another company, had coronavirus (2 over 50 and obese), and survived this deadly disease that did absolutely nothing to them (1 was barely what you would call sick). They are most certainly not damaged for life, and are back to the hard work they do.
The vast majority of new cases are asymptomatic young people who will also mostly likely (99.7%) suffer no long term effects.

Also, the Spanish flu didn't end society since, you know, we are still here so...

Only 32% of those ICU beds used are coronavirus related.
Good for them , but most that end up on the icu have permanent long damage .
And they are investigating what corona does with your lungs when you only get a mild version.

It’s a weird virus , I have 2 in my circle that got it , in their early 30s, one had something flu like , was positive for corona and was up and running In 1 week, she is a bit obese .
The other was 3,5 weeks in bed and in pretty bad shape , not overweight and now 13 weeks later still not fully recovered , so don’t think everyone comes off easy.
She even told me yesterday she underestimated Corona, she’s 34 and in good health, no underlaying illnesses.
I bet you haven’t had a virus so heavy that it changed your life, so I am willing to let your rudeness slide , because you can’t comprehend. I have, about 22 years ago, never became my old self.
I am certainly no lunatic , but I hardly want to experience what I experienced when I was 18 years old, and what it took for me to get back to my own life .

I almost died of pneumonia at age 4. Took me a long time to be normal again. We are not going to lose 60 million people. I am sorry your friend got it bad, but we are finding out in Texas that >70% of cases are mild.
How about some more information?
Of our three employees who had it:
-One lived in a house of 11 and not a single person living with him got sick.
-One lived in a house of 5 and not a single plerson living with him got sick.
-One lived with his girlfriend and she did not get sick.
- None of them quarantined themselves from their families, though they did stay in their homes for a month, and two claim to have had lots of sex with their wife/girlfriend.
-That is 17 people who did not get sick with direct, long term, exposure. This includes sex which constitutes heavy breathing directly onto someone.
- At the job these men were around about 50 or 60 other workers who they did not infect.
This is either not a very transmissible disease, or most infections are asymptomatic and go unnoticed.
I already explained this.
1. Workplaces are requiring employees to get tested in mass in order to return to work = lots of asymptomatic cases who have had it for weeks or months are only finding out now they are positive.
2. Protests have caused an uptick.
3. Young people are hitting up bars and nightclubs which are not following the 50% rules and getting it.
I think we will find out this disease is spread by "super spreaders" for some bizarre reason we don't quite understand yet. Maybe people with certain genetic traits are spreaders while others are not?

The biggest concern with Covid was always that it would push already vulnerable hospitals beyond their limit. And that's exactly whats happening in Arizona.
Covid doesn't need to be a world ending plague to cause serious disruptions to normal daily life. It just needs to be a burden the system can't handle.

There are undoubtedly people protesting who take the name at face value, black lives matter, and of course they do. However, if you look at the manifesto for black lives matter, it includes tearing down the capitalist system, abolishing the police and ending the nuclear family. Those are pretty extreme positions. To achieve those aims (and it's remarkable how similar they are to Extinction Rebellion) they are holding cities hostage. XR did it by blocking streets and the police let them. BLM have come along with a more violent strategy. We'll destroy your city until you give in to our demands. I'd call that terrorism.

Early in this thread when the virus broke out I was saying I might never get to see my grandmother again due to her being in a care facility. Unfortunately she passed away last night at the age of 96, one hell of a high score. Didn't get a chance to say goodbye as I wouldn't have been able to visit and she was completely deaf so I couldn't call her. Didn't use email or texting either. I did get to drop off a present for mothers day, but it wasn't the same.
I encourage everyone in this thread to let people know how much they mean to you and how much you appreciate them. I have a problem of never doing this until it is too late and it has happened again. it's a really shitty feeling, I could have said it years ago. RIP Bubby.
