You ignored several other things i pointed out - when we shut down,reopened, deaths etc - and didn't answer the question. :\
Case numbers was only one thing I said and I also said it relative to how many other states have had.
It's fair to say Florida is doing worse than almost everyone else comparatively.
I also think its fair to say DeSantis has done almost nothing to slow or stop the spread; I watch his briefings almost daily and he brags about how much medicine he's providing for those sick while not even doing the minimum like a mask mandate. (Masks being another thing proven to stop or slow the spread If you're one of those arguing that still then I don't know what to say.)
The second part is even more confusing : I fully acknowledge how rare it is to die from covid19, but I also see Richard Rose III tweeting "Im not wearing a f***ing mask" and dying to covid19 2 months later when he didnt have to die, and don't want that to be me. Everyone else can do as they feel best.

Look I get your concern. A mask mandate is no different than a mask recommendation because the government can’t enforce it. My state has a mask mandate and depending on the day, compliance is 50% to 75% where I’m from.
Florida closed bars and did a few other minimally intrusive measures was my understanding. I obviously don’t monitor everything they’re doing though and you live there so you’d know better than me.
This stuff can be scary. The best thing I can tell you is not to look to government to save you. Take care of yourself and be smart. If you’re afraid (and that’s all right), do the smart things we all know. And take care of your general health as much as you can.

See this is just needless fear porn. It bums me out that people still think like this, but let's go through it. Are you obese like him? Do you have some condition like asthma, diabetes, heart problem, etc? If no to all that, then NO, you are not going to drop dead of COVID 19. And honestly, if you are obese, and you are scared of COVID, then you should be focused on losing weight as opposed to walking around with a dumb mask strapped to your face.
Also - would wearing a mask have saved his life? Honestly, almost certainly not, considering 100% of the mask talk is about how you have to do it for "other people", even *if* it is effective at slowing down transmission. In all likelihood he got it from a family member or friend, indoors, doing things that people consider normal behavior, like socializing and talking. Mask or no mask had absolutely nothing to do with him getting the disease and absolutely nothing to do with him dying of it.

With estimated 40-50% having had it, he pushes the thought that 20% of population getting infected with Wulhan Virus is enough for herd immunity.
Referencing cases like Diamond Princess, Sweden etc. Cases are still coming, but death rates have dropped significantly.
Of all "no big deal" theories that I have seen so far, this one is the most convincing.

It wasn't a province wide mandate, but up to the municipalities, but I think pretty much everywhere has it now. Ours was July 17, Toronto was the first I think on July 7. Everything is open here again for the most part and cases keep going down, so it has to be the masks.

The first people at my job getting covid19 and quarantined for two weeks? You guessed it : Two kids in their early 20s.
Maybe a mask mandate would be hard to enforce but from what I've seen those with them are doing a lot better.
The first 4 months were fine, it felt like we were all together...
Now even my coworkers are posting regularly easily disproven nonsense about hydroxy, or just yesterday one posting that nonsense about legionaires from masks?
Maybe I've been in the south too long - 5 years now - and its like this everywhere, but the people here LOVE conspiracy theories with no grounding in science, fact, reality, etc.

Depending on how delayed their reporting is and when they push from the backlog without the underlying data it would be difficult to say that this is useful to highlight.

I guess when I say excellent job, I mean he didn’t stomp all over his citizens civil rights. Some people are going to die from this. That’s the nature of disease. Crushing your population’s rights to stop a disease may not be the right response. As for the deaths, it was always the case that deaths were going to rise as cases rose. The question is how many deaths. Florida’s case numbers have fallen and deaths will trail that by about two weeks, if they follow the normal pattern. If they can manage to keep their deaths per million fairly middle of the pack, I’d say DeSantos did fine. Especially considering his state is the oldest in the country.

There is a lot of fear porn talk in this thread but its never directed towards the constant posts about the government using corona to take over and keep us in our homes forever. Seems like corona being a serious concern is much more likely then kate brown looking to keep my wearing a mask forever. Oh and for the record America never shut down like the fear porn talkers like to make it seem, at anytime any one of us could go outside or to the store or anywhere else that was open. Just wanted to point that out.

I would put money on this too. I would also bet that it works and that they have challenge tested volunteers.
That is why they are so confident and have already authorised it. The results of challenge testing the monkeys in April was already a piece of major good news. First phase results have been amazing. If they have hacked oxford, then they have probably seen some of the results from phase II.
With all that in mind, they probably just thought fuck it, showed the volunteers that it worked, vaccinated them, checked for anti-bodies and T-cells after 28 days, then proceeded to expose them to the virus, knowing with almost certainty that it would protect them. There has not been any reported side effects other than a fever (which is pretty common with vaccines anyway), so they skipped phase III and went the quickest route possible.

first point. China has yet to be proven of being responsible of anything, so this is kind of a moot point.
second point, and i'm surprised i even have to highlight it, countries are not people, they are not recognised as such by any legal system..otherwise USA would already be in jail for the whole "weapon of mass destruction" blatant lie before the war against Iraq.
third point. for all intent and purposes i'm sure many countries would somehow sanction and condamn China if any proof ever emerges of this being an artificial desease cming from a chinese lab...war of course might be a little too much of an answer depending on the degree of malice behind the whole thing...but again we are speaking of hypoteticals.
