Mass Effect 2 'Arrival' DLC

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
The latest patch for Mass Effect 2 PS3 is out, and in it BioWare made a whoopsie, including three new trophies for what looks to be a new DLC pack titled 'Arrival'. Big thanks to ColonelColon for the original post.

Details of the three tophies can be found below (spoilered of course), and an image of the trophy list can be seen here

The Ultimate Sacrifice
- Complete the Arrival DLC

Last Stand
-Survive all five waves in the battle for Object Rho

Covert Action
-Rescue Dr. Amanda Kenson without attracting hostile attention.

Followers might remember BioWare stating that the Cerberus Daily News feed would be going offline this year, and would come back online for a couple of weeks sometime later on to hype up the arrival of the last major DLC pack. The feed is still offline, and went offline on the 24th of January. This was the last message;

"Historians and astronomers alike are abuzz tonight over a new paper published by Dr. Amanda Kenson of the University of Arcturus. Her team claims that by testing the dust trapped in the gravity wells around a mass relay, and comparing its composition to that of dust clouds in the same system, scientists can create a timeline of when the relay passed through the dust. Her conclusion? “Only a small fraction of the mass effect relays date back 50,000 years,” she writes, “The majority are far older, indicating they were created by a species predating even the Protheans.” Dr. Aurana T’Meles of the University of Serrice met the information with skepticism: “While Dr. Kenson’s methods appear sound, the asari tried a similar procedure centuries ago and discounted it. What civilization could have spanned the galaxy for not thousands, but millions of years? If this were the case, we should have found mountains of evidence of their passing. Where is this species now?"

Notice any similarities? ;)

BioWare are yet to make an official comment on this, but we can always speculate what it's about.

Sounds like they are toying with optional stealth segments by what one of the trophies say. I wonder how they'll work that around the level design? Let's hope for it to be a fairly open space to get from point A to B.

I'm a sucker for anything Mass Effect related, and I'll proudly buy the DLC and enjoy every single moment of it!

They've already released a boatload of DLC for this game. With ME3 around the corner, I don't expect we'll be receiving more DLC. I hope not, anyway. I'd like to replay this game sometime before ME3. (I've been waiting for all of the DLC to come out before diving back in.)

BioWare said there was one more significant DLC pack coming sometime later this year, and then ME3 is planned for a holiday 2011 release.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got some smaller insignificant crap though, like more bloody appearance packs.

If it weren't for the damned BioWare points requirement for the PC DLC I'd be all over it. Will probably buy for the PS3 first but will get all of the DLC for PC right before the release of ME2 for my replayathon of 1 and 2.

But come on, release more DLC.

I wonder if 'Arrival' alludes to the arrival of certain biomechanical space lobsters.

According to a user at the Bioware forums, the PS3 patch added 3 trophies for a new DLC add-on called "Arrival". Others have said that this isn't a hoax. Here's the trophy descriptions:

The Ultimate Sacrifice
- Complete the Arrival DLC

Last Stand
-Survive all five waves in the battle for Object Rho

Covert Action
-Rescure Dr. Amanda Kenson without attracting hostile attention.

Based on the title of the DLC, I'm guessing that this takes place after the suicide mission.

Just 3 trophies. I can't imagine this being an expansive new chapter in the story. From the description it almost seems like a ME2 equivalent of
Pinnacle station
.

Given that we have learned of this through trophies. Do you think EA were stupid enough to give Sony an exclusive over this, as in exclusive reveal at GDC or something? "Look everybody we have brand new ME2 DLC called Arrival for PLAYSTATION 3, available on PSN" ................................................................................................................................................................. then after the show is over we wait for a press release stating it will be available for 360 and PC at some point.

Given that the Jan NPD results are in and EA/Sony have not mentioned it. It's safe to say that the cost of developing a PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 isn't exactly paying off. How many people do they expect to rush out and buy Mass Effect 3 for PS3 if they don't have the second, let alone the first game?

Mass Effect 3 is perhaps 9 months from release. There has been no new story content on 360 and PC since September 2010. If you want to keep momentum and interest in Mass Effect alive you are going to have to announce something and soon.

Already bought, also you sure about the space lobsters? They wouldn't be around in my version of the game.

Whatever more ME2 the better. This should tide me over until ME3

He wasn't talking about the Rachni.

Excellent, I hope it's officially announced soon. I started playing the original game again earlier in the week just to get my Mass Effect fix but I really want some new content to play through.

also in this DLC everybody on your team DIES. this time for real so Bioware could introduce new party members in ME3.

I beat the game twice and now the patch comes out lol, I've had freezes but no corrupt save data so guess I got lucky, DLC nice :D

I don't like the description of the first trophy...

Please don't kill Shepard again or any other character only to bring them back later with a lame plot twists

The fact that it mentions
wave
has me worried.

I kind of hope this DLC helps improve the ending, I am all for more quests before the final area but damn son we need a warm up for ME3

Why's that?
Waves don't have to apply to an arena setting. It could be that the squad defends a location like the firing controls on Horizon.

While I'd like to think I will wait for the price to drop, I know I'll waver quickly and end up being a Day Two or Day Three adopter.

Just need to stay strong. Not Day One.
