Mass Effect 2 'Arrival' DLC

There will most definitely be more ME games.

In fact, the Mass Effect books (Retribution, Ascension, and Revelation) do a very good job to further the Mass Effect universe without including Shepard in the story. There's a few references to Shepard, but not many.

I'd love to see a ME game feature a non-human as the main character.

Yup, I read all the books and liked them all, especially Revelation (read it before I played ME1, so it was perfectly in sequence).

I feel like a non-human character might be cool, but I'm trying to think which race I would like to be the main character besides a human. Probably an Asari that's around Liara's age.

I need to go and re-read all the Cerberus Daily News articles because I can't get enough of the ME universe.

Really hope ME3 is just the end of Shepard but not the end of ME games ..

I'd really like the ME game after 3 to be set about 800 years in the future. That way you could get to see how your choices in the ME series really influenced the galaxy. I'd find that fascinating since you would truly need to have at least 2 very different experiences/game depending on what you did (I'd imagine the big one would be pro-human or inclusive choice).

Plus, 800 years in the future we could still get a Liara cameo.

Somehow I feel like this is going to be part 1 prologue to ME3 and EA will find some stupid way to release part 2 right before ME3

Bladerunner Noir detective game on the Citadel or Omega.
Do want. That would be incredible.

Anyways, after Shadow Broker, I've got high hopes for new DLC. Hopefully it's more of bridging the story between 2 and 3.

Holy crap.

That .. sounds amazing. Matriarch Liara!

I kind of want a SimRachni game to satisfy the SimAnt/Spore needs that Maxis has yet to fully satisfy.

A stealth game would be fun, a Hitman style game would be more fun.

This is a good idea.

Was hoping the next DLC would have something for the Kaiden/Ashley lovers.

Also why cant they just have the Cerberus news kiosk thing display old static news...on the PS3 it feels kinda weird at the start screen just to have the kiosk closed and all it says is "Connected to EA servers."

Heck yeah for the patch more than anything.

Ditto...Hopefully I can finally change my outfit and use all the DLC I bought in the Captains cabin without the game freezing now.

Awesome news, didn't know they teased more DLC earlier this year. I bought all three of the last DLC packs for I think 200pts each during that Xbox End of Year sale, loved every one more than the last. Should be fun! Funny, I bought ME2 on release date, but only got around to beating it 2 months ago, heh.

Well, time to dust ME2 off again. I would like to think this is going to be just as good as Shadow Broker DLC, but I will take second best at this point.

Whu...wait.

So this is going to be PS3 exclusive?
I'm assuming for a limited time.
BioWare would never pull that kind of move... I hope. They've released everything synchronously, so far, anyway.

Bioware made an announcement on the PC and 360 versions of the game specifically via Cerberus Network saying there'd be one more DLC mission pack after Shadow Broker - before PS3 release.

So I guess I'm waiting for a super-duper special Mass Effect edition now...
I will buy a Mass Effect 2: Ultimate Edition as long as it has ALL the content on the disc. The armor, alternative costumes, the Cerberus Network quests, everything.

The DLC was given away by trophies added by the latest PS3 patch. It's kind of a ridiculous presumption.

Sony paying for exclusivity (even timed exclusivity) of DLC or additional content for a game? Completely ridiculous. That would NEVER happen, right?

If Dragon Age is anything to go by, that won't happen. The Cerberus Network stuff, at least, will remain a download - that is after all the whole point of project 10 dollar, right?

Paying for the last piece of DLC for a year old game would be dumb, even for Sony. I know it's "new" for their users, but at this point in time they don't gain anything by getting it exclusive. All the 360/pc players would just wait, and the ps3 owners were going to buy it there anyway.

At least with a new game you can sway potential purchases. They're not swaying anyone with this.

Seems like it would still be considered as "new" for PS3 owners.

It would be, so why not just release it normally? All of the purchases on the pc/360 side are well past done (well, not all..99%) so it's not like the situations where MS buys the 1st dlc of a relatively new Bethesda game to try and get people to buy their version.

I guess my point is it should only be used on brand new games, not year late ports, which is a shitty point since I'm personally no fan of exclusive dlc. Shouldn't be done at all.

I think it's more about motivating future buyers that if given the choice between a multi-platform game, to go with "X" system because they get DLC before "Y" system ..

And that is what seems to be colouring your posts when it comes to this.

A platform developer wants you to buy their platform and the games that play on it. Having even timed exclusive DLC can influence the purchases made by people over time.

Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean a platform developer won't do it and it doesn't mean it won't be effective.

Just because the console wars have subsided on GAF (thank god), doesn't mean the war's not still being fought elsewhere.

Can you really say they are in it or not by what we know so far...?

How will they handle the dlc for people who haven't finished the game? This dlc was supposed to be after you finished it right?

If it's anything like the other DLCs, you don't have to finish the game to play it. Some are better to be played after you beat it, like Lair of the Shadow Broker.

If this DLC involves the Reapers as it seems to suggest it does, then I can see Bioware making it require a cleared save file to play. It wouldn't make sense if you're in the middle of your ME2 game and you have to deal with them all of a sudden.

It's not like it would be the first Mass Effect DLC that didn't allow you to play it right at the beginning. You had to wait till the middle of the game to play LOTSB. It is not that far fetched to think they would due the same for this DLC, but till the end of the game.
