I really like the new upgrade system. Yeah yeah yeah, it's super streamlined, but it's way more rewarding than ME1 ever was. Exploring the galaxy, getting minerals (even though probing admittedly sucks) to buy new research materials...it actually feels like I'm actively doing something to deserve neat rewards that I can unlock.

I like the upgrade system as well, I just do not see why I have to wait to return to the ship for my upgrades to apply.

Would have been cool as part of the menu.

Also, the absolute WORST part of the game are the mini games. There is no contest. If i were reviewing this game, it would go from a 10 to a 9.2 JUST on how shitty all three of them are, ESPECIALLY the scanning one (we need mods to fix this shit asap).

SO as far as I can tell people will be broken into 2 schools of planet scanning.

- The dragging slow scan method
- The fast cursor "pecking" method

I'm a devil may care fast cursor guy myself, scanning random areas as I scroll around, only honing in if I see a spike. What category are you guys falling into? IT DEFINES YOU AS A PERSON I TELLS YAH!

I'm definitely a pecker also. I like the upgrade system, but think they could do something to make probing for minerals better. It's pretty boring.

Goddamn.

I'm amazed that I don't actually mind the mini games (well, the hacking) in this game. It's pretty well done and fast.

Probing, however...

While i still think it is shitty game design to make us do it so often, they become part of the routine and are quick enough not to be an issue.

The probing 'mini-game' needs to die in a fucking fire.

I know that they need a way to make the planets in the galaxy relevant, but to take the worse aspect of the first game and make it more or less mandatory...

I remember getting so much Eezo on that planet that I made a note for future playthroughs.

I'm the fast cursor scan method. I go up and down constantly scanning each collumn but I rotate the planet with the mouse. The other way that seems to be even quicker is to just make a spiral around the planet, but it's a little harder to keep track of where you are.

With nhancer I get this:

I'm guessing you've got a laptop that's incompatible with official NVidia drivers. There's an older version of nHancer that's compatible with the older drivers, it says so right on their site.

A few things on this game. What I'm saying here may have been mentioned but just throwing things out there.

- This game is amazing. So much more in depth than Mass Effect. I thought that game was pretty fucking sweet (aside from the Mako controls) but this game totally surpassed it.

- Everything about it is sweet. The story, the music, the gameplay. I only have two problems with it so far.

1) The animations. Why does everything in this game seem so.. 'lame'. What I mean here is the animations and how they interact with everything is dull/stupid. Examples: Shephards hand going into someone. Illusive Mans cigarettes doing things they shouldn't be. The alcohol you order from bartenders floating and being downed awkwardly. It doesn't seem fluid (no pun intended?)

2) The cover system. While its awesome addition, I think it controls awkwardly. I wish it were more like Gears of War. The controls are the same, per say, but in Mass Effect 2 I feel so 'retarded' when I'm going to cover. My guy doesn't get behind it like he should and he doesn't react how I want him. I may be pressing A to quick but he just goes into cover and then comes back out and gets nailed by gunfire. I hope its looked into further but maybe I'm just dumb.

- Illusive Man looks like Bill Pullman

Anyway, I'm having a great time with this game.

Where I am currently in the game:
I have every team member except Tali and the last remaining crew member (don't know who it is. Don't spoil!). I just investigated the 'derelict' collector ship. I denied the reaper mission to finish off all of the squad member missions. I have done (Grunts, Jacks, Miranda's, Garrus', and Jacobs'. Everyone else I still have left). I am about to bone Miranda but I don't know when that happens. I hope I have alot more gameplay left because this game is just to sweet the first time around. And probably will be the second and third.

Hint: Don't play Insanity as an Adept.

We'll never hear from you again, due to the inevitable suicide.

The characters and story are completely what made the game for me. In the end,
I lost too many people...I'm gonna go back to my last save and redo it.

Took me around 18 hours.

Suicide is inevitable no matter which class you use on insane.

First playthrough was with a Sentinel.

Never again. Next time I play, it will be on casual.

You mean the loyalty/recruitment stuff or general choices?

Well not that, but I decided to do a lot of side questing before the final mission, and once I got there
Some of my crew had died from taking too long :lol

WOW the loyalty quests are fantastic. I love all of them. Samara's was WOW

I just did Jack's and I thought that one was really good also. Haven't done Samara's yet but that is a really good character.

My favorite was Jacob's so far. The setting and plot was pretty cool.

I find myself saying datass alot IRL. They make video game chicks unrealistically hot. It makes me sad. That's why I cry myself to sleep at night but then wake up extra happy.

After the mission where I got Samara, I got a side mission where I'm either suppose to
turn in or accept a bribe
from Pitne For on Illium. In the end I forgot to make a decision and left the area through a dialog option and can't figure out how to get back. I believe I originally took a taxi but can't seem to get back after looking through the area a few times. Is there any chance of going back or am I out of luck?

It's probably been said before but what level of AA can we PC users run without affecting the gameplay? I run 5770s in crossfire so I was looking at forcing 8xAA at least!

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Omega is one of the most 'complete' feeling areas I've ever played in a game, and possibly BioWare's greatest environment created. It feels 'real'. So alive, so perfect.

I have a 5850 and I'm running 8xAA locked at 60.

i5 750, 4g RAM. Judging from the other people that posted in this thread the performance is much better than the first Mass Effect on PC and people with older PC's seem to be maxing it out no problem.

Quick question for ATI users. What is the filter mode you pick under AA settings? Its on 'Box' right now but when I switched it to Edge Detect (still at 8xAA) it didn't look as good. Whats the difference between all of these options?

Caved in an bought in Steam this morning. Decided to not bother with another ME1. Just don't have the time, so guess I'll just read up on the story bits I missed and grab someone elses save

God bless PC gaming!

It's already too late for you :lol.

Just finished the game spoilers!

At the end it shows the reapers flying into what I assume is the Milky Way, I thought they were stuck in an alternate space and couldn't get in without the assistance of a special ME relay. Similar to the one on the citadel? Plot Hole or am I just being dumb

I did everyone's loyalty, had the ship upgraded to maximum, finished at level 25 yet I still had 1 character death. Is there some type of secret to having everyone come back alive? Maybe a time limit to how long you can spend killing the human reaper?

I have to say the sense of urgency in the final mission was done so well, I was pushing enemies harder then I normally would. So many Singularity blasts to clear them quick :lol.

Awesome Awesome experience, now to finish it all over again as a renegade.

Illusive Man question, not related to the end game. Safe Spoiler!
What's up with the Illusive Man's eyes, is he some kind of cyborg? Their always reflecting something.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Guys ... we still haven't figured out how to romance
Kelly
have we ?

because I just beat the game, spoke positively with her all the time, and even saved her, but she doesn't have anything other then the usual lines ... Fem-shep btw.

I'm pretty sure the most that she'll do for you is to come up to your room and do some stripper dancing. Don't think you can tap that at all, Fem or Male.

Isn't the purpose of the citadel just to give them the "okey" to attack, as a signal rather than a path. ? But seems they're very aware of the situation as Harbinger is in direct control of shit.

Also, like i said a bunch of pages back, it seems like there's hidden affinity trackers that track your general conversations with your squad mates too, eg I was a full paragon, spoke with each party member after each mission and gave all positive replies, and in the argument scenes chose the paragon answers so both parties were satisfied, and everyone survived for me at the end.

The only thing that affects how quickly you attack is whether Kelly survives or not, that's the only thing I've seen change so far.

Well I did all the loyalty missions before the shit hit the fan. I have done 1 N7 mission and a quest for Liara since i had access to the relay.

I don't think it matters how long you wait at this point. It's either you go immediately once they take your crew, or you don't.

Makes sense then, I was like wtf at the end. I did all Paragon options for Mordin, talked to him the most out of all my crew members, and even gave him some weapon upgrades and he still managed to die :lol. I'm going to have to reload that save and try it out again. Maybe take him with me and leave someone else behind.

It matters who you choose to lead squads or be the specialist. If you choose the wrong characters, people can still die even if they are all loyal and you have all the upgrades. I don't really think a hidden meter is Bioware's style.
