Yeah, and even though I checked the wiki (which says the same thing) the more I think about it the more I am unsure it's even correct. Either way it wouldn't make much of a difference trying to close in on 60 in one run, I suppose.

I'm not sure it's correct either. I can't find any reference to it. This is all that I've found regarding XP penalty for vehicle kills.

; The experience is scaled down when you're in the vehicle, this is the factor to multiply by
m_fVehicleExpScaleFactor=0.4

If you edit that to 1.0 you'll get the same amount of XP for the kill as you would on foot. It makes it possible to make a single run through the game and hit level 60. That's useful if all you want to do is set up an import Shepard for ME2. *shrug*

After about 35 hours, Shep Shepard finally saved the galaxy yesterday afternoon.
Jack
died. Didn't seem like there was much I could do there. I sided with Miranda at some point in the game during an argument in the Briefing room. Whatever that was, I guess it blocked me from ever gaining her loyalty. I also didn't specifically pick her for anything on the final mission.

If you had a high enough paragon/renegade stat you could have told them both to shut up. This would have kept them both loyal. I think you might have been able to talk to jack afterwards even, if you couldn't pick the option, but you still had to have a high p/r rating.

Yep. You need like 100% Paragon if you're going the Paragon route or some insanely high Renegade for the Renegade option (but lower than Paragon iirc). Opposite for the other confrontation.

Is there a good resource out there on what mods are available for PC? I've done my share of googlin' and found a handful of things but nothing seriously reliable. I'm also just now getting back into PC gaming after YEARS away from it, so the easier to understand the better.

Visit Bioware boards. There are plenty threads about these mods.

You should be able to save her if you want. I would guess that you're satisfied with the result, but if you decide to save her it can be done. Leave her on the line at the end but make sure to have Grunt, Zaeed and/or Garrus there to help. At least two of those cause they're the heavy hitters with the best defense rating. They'll boost the overall defense for the group and give her the best chance to survive.

Just completed the game over the holiday break. I picked up the game for $10 on sale from Amazon a couple weeks back.

I don't know why I waited so long to pick it up as I loved the first game, but I can say it was worth the wait. The only thing I did not enjoy was planet scanning.

I even picked up all the DLC missions when they went on sale and have to say the Shadow Broker one was awesome.

I lost
Mordin
in the final fight, but I am playing through a second time on Insane and hope that I can have 100% survival.

Same thing happened with me in the final fight.
I had made all the right specialist and squad leader options and had everyone loyal and all upgrades. I sent Jacob back with the survivors thinking that if they ran into any resistance he could handle it. Pissed me off that Mordin just randomly died even though I made all the right choices and everyone was loyal. Sent Mordin back with the survivors my second time and everyone survived.

I keep seeing Zaeed mentioned but I can't recall who this person is. My squad screen was full and I don't remember a Zaeed.

He's a free DLC character, so he's not in the game initially, you need to download him first.

Can't seem to find any free DLC on the PC version...

If you have the steam version you need to register the 2nd key (Cerebeus Key) on the Bioware website. Then download and install the DLCs.

I picked up all the DLC during the year end sale last week, so I've been diving back in.

I still need to do Insanity - I assume the easiest way will be new game+ and just barreling through the story missions? Or will the loyalty missions still be worth doing?

I'll likely be importing my first ME2 play-through for ME3, so I'm not as worried about the choices I'm making on Insanity. I just want it for the achievement :p

Also, any tips on getting the "knock a guy down and kill him while he's grounded" achievement? I play infiltrator/adept (two saves, don't really want to start a third one).

Can't wait to step into the Shadow Broker pack.

Bioware website is telling me that the key has already been used. I seem to remember inputting it into the main game like the first time I booted it up. What the hell is going on?

Yes! Huge success! Would have never known any of this existed, though, which is kind of frustrating.

Yeah, i had to google around to find wtf was going on. Not to mention that bioware site is designed like pure garbage. :lol

I had the same thought...wanted to send someone back who could handle themselves so I sent Zaeed. I have a couple more loyalty missions and the shadow broker left on my Insane run and then I just need to get the ship upgrades in place and I will try again.

Also I just watched the ME3 trailer and I am pretty hyped. I did see the thread talking about people thoughts...did not expect the hate.

Get your melee on with the husks. Just don't let yourself get surrounded and overwhelmed.

Ok, so at the end of the game it asked if I wanted to keep playing or start a New Game+. I chose to keep playing, but now I changed my mind. How do I rectify this?

I think you just choose a new game; it'll let you import your old Shepard using the same option as the "import ME1 character" button.

Ok, I'll give it a shot later. What exactly carries over into the new game?

What's the problem? You can quit the game and start a NG+ with the same Shep if you want. You can continue playing and do some DLC or side missions with that character or you can just start a new game with a new Shep. Your end game has an autosave if that's what you're concerned about.

Level, and you'll get an initial bonus to your Paragon/Renegade and an initial amount of resources based on various stats when you finished the game. You'll also have access to a bonus power for Shepard - a single power off one of the loyal members of your squad from the previous game. So you can have a Solider with a single Biotic power or a Biotic with a tech power as a bonus.

Ok, last question: If I play through again on new game+, I'll effectively have 2 Shep's to import into ME3, right?

Thanks again, everyone.

So concerning that...I did start a second play through but I am pretty sure I would rather have the actions I took in the first one carry over to ME3...will I run into any problems because I did a new game +? Thanks.

No it's a completely new run through the game with separate saves.

Awesome...I have been being a dick on this run being that it is on Insane and making me that way. On the first run I was nice and did just about everything.

Yeah I'm about to do the same. I was committed to Paragon the first time, but there were so many instances that I just felt like being a dick, that I'm pretty excited about a second run purely Renegade.

I got bored in ME1 and never finished it, so I initially overlooked the second installment. However, since ME2 has been raking in so many GOTY awards, I figured I'd give it a shot. I've been playing it compulsively the past few days and I can't believe how blown away I am right now. This is now my personal GOTY, and I can easily say that this one of my favorite games of the generation. I know there's been a lot of disagreement over whether ME2 is an RPG or not, but after having played FFXIII I'm more than happy to give up the RPG genre in favor of this new one.

Okay, I really am getting pissed with having to have an EA account linked to my 360 and/or PSN names for so many games.

I have some Blood Dragon Armor waiting to be worn by my goddess Caleigh Shepard but EA is telling me my 360 GT is already in use when I try and add it to my account.

My only thought is somewhere, at some time, I made another account with another stupid EA game - and now I have no idea what my GT is linked too. Why does EA have to make all this account BS mandatory? That's what PSN and XBL is for. It's just another layer to frustrate people.

Can anyone help? How can I find out what e-mail/game (whatever) my GT is linked too so I can delete/un-link it and simply redeem my codes. Lol.

Don't worry, the Blood Dragon armor is hideous as fuck. You're not missing out on anything.

But if you really crave that piece of shitty DLC you should contact Bioware or EA's support and inform them about your product key. Then they'll probably transfer the DLC to your account.

If you do nothing but the main quest stuff in ME1 you can beat it in 6 hours or so, I do suggest you try playing it again just to see how it ends.

Pandaman

Everything is moe to me
anyone else find the shepard character to be a bit belligerent? there were alot of times when all of the dialogue options seemed bad [it didnt help that what was written did not always reflect on what was said]. Pretty much every time shepard talks to the council, i ended up agreeing with the council.

also
rewriting the geth is paragon? what? what happened to 'i'd rather die than live a slave, sovereign'

I thought it said that
re-writing would give them the chance to re-think their actions and that those that wanted to could go back to being heretics or something

Unless I'm remembering it horribly wrong.

That particular dilemma only shows how useless the Paragon/Renegade labels really are. Just get rid of the damned bars and hide the points you accumulate. Better yet, get rid of the points entirely. They don't add anything and encourage to play one-sidedly so you can max them out.

True, but I heard it's pretty helpful for some of the classes and might be good on Insanity.

I already contacted EA about helping me find where my GT is linked to so once that's fixed I shouldnt have any problems in the future.

So I am doing my Insanity run...only 2 things left
Legion Loyalty and final mission
...anyhow I was doing both renegade and paragon actions throughout...then Miranda and
Jack got into it...I did not have the ability to calm them both down and now Miranda is 'normal' under her loyalty status...I am also trying to keep them all alive in the suicide mission...am I screwed or can I just have Miranda in my squad?

No, if you pay attention, in the MIDDLE OF THE MISSION,
re-writing
suddenly shifts from being paragon to renegade or vice versa. Seriously, pay attention the first time it comes up: talking about it is one side. Then, suddenly, when it's finally time for the choice, it's the opposite.

Confused the hell out of me.

Wait what.

I chose Udina as councilor and I let the original council die. I thought I was going to see the human council, but I don't get to speak to them and I don't get my spectre status back.

It's obvious which choice was the 'real one' in ME1.

I finally jumped in, ME1 on it's way from Amazon.co.uk to my 360. Any tips or things I shouldn't do on my first playthrough, without spoiling the plot?

It's not an all human council, it's just that the non human councilors don't want to talk to the guy who let their predecessors die.
And you don't get your status back because you chose Udina and he's a dick.
And I don't see how it's a false choice.

Don't use Miranda for any leadership and/or specialist role at all in the suicide mission. That would just get someone else killed. Don't bring her with you to fight the
Reaper baby
. Just leave her on the line and make sure to keep your heavy defenders
Garrus, Grunt and Zaeed
with her and she should be OK.
