Man, the Particle Rifle + High Velocity Barrel V + Turian Ghost Tactical Cloak AR buff + Stimulant Pack specced for damage really does burn through armor. Never saw Geth Bombers, Pyros or Primes go down that fast.

See above. Bombers and pyros (if I hit the tank) are one-shot kills.

What level is your PPR?

I just love how I have all the customization options for the Volus Engineer and 3 for the Adept, but still haven't gotten one of the new Turians.

There are over 42 characters in the game, each with a different playstyle from each other (ranging from somewhat different for kits within classes and hugely different for cross-class kits). That's a lot of variance.

There's not really. There's 6 classes and each one has a new skin or different skill or two.

It's hard to explain.... there is TONS of different classes to play, lots of guns and powers to use, you never know what your next pack will have, free DLCs with new maps, characters and items, and latest one even added challenges with title and banner rewards, Collectors and hazard maps. Plus i love the combat gameplay, especially with a team of other players. Mix all these together, and I never get tired of this. It might be just 10 horde waves with 3 special objectives, but i dunno... it's still not enough to stop me from playing.

I see. I stopped playing around the time the earth maps came out. They have done a good job of weapon and map variations but once I realized ,after playing that new update a little bit, was that they were just dressing things up differently. The new guns weren't different enough to bring new gameplay, the enemies were the same dumb meat puppets that were just moving around in a different backdrop. It just doesn't offer any challenge. Every game is a game of exploit the weakness in Enemy AI.

I think my problem is it's a game that isn't pvp and that just destroys the element of surprise I need in my multiplayer.

I think I get now why every time I go to play it I just turn it off.

There might be 6 classes, but you can't say that a Quarian Infiltrator plays the same way as a N7 Shadow, which is also an Infiltrator. And you can't say that a Salarian Engineer plays like a Geth Engineer. They only have two or three different powers, but it's enough to change a lot in how you play them.

Wrong. Power combinations make all the difference in this game, which makes each different kit play to massively varying strengths; much more difference than a character skin will ever make.

For example, let's take a look at the Infiltrator class itself:
- The Human Infiltrator is kind of a vanilla, try everything introductory Infiltrator
- The Salarian Infiltrator is best suited for sniping.
- The Female Quarian Infiltrator is uniquely powerful against Geth, but less so for other enemies.
- The Geth Infiltrator is best suited for shotguns.
- The Male Quarian Infiltrator is well suited for crowd control and debuffs.
- The N7 Shadow is a melee-focused character, but also needs an extremely light cooldown, which makes most shotguns unsuitable for this class.
- The Turian Ghost is best suited for Assault Rifles.

So there's already varying combat styles within one class. Of course, some kits are going to play similarly to others but I already addressed this: "each with a different playstyle from each other (ranging from somewhat different for kits within classes and hugely different for cross-class kits)"

So we have similar kits such as the Asari Adept and the Human Sentinel, but at the same time we have massively different kits such as the Salarian Engineer and the N7 Destroyer. Even kits that have a similar effective combat distance can play massively different - the N7 Fury is excellent at crowd control and infantry elimination, while the Asari Sentinel is uniquely disposed for boss killing (and on that same note, both the N7 Paladin Sentinel and Asari Sentinels are close range, yet have very different combos).

If you don't see the appeal of the multiplayer, that's fine, but don't just shrug off what you consider to be "minor variation" and consider that an objective fact.

How I would buff the Batarian class:
Immune from husks jumping on your chest while you have blade armor active.
Way more resistance to stagger/stun while in falcon punch mode. Enough to withstand a Brute swipe.
Be able to cancel falcon punch (no roll, so with run?) if someone steals your kill.
Add a rank 6 to blade armor that makes cool down a lot slower but adds immunity to sync kills. Or maybe make it so that the chance for a sync kill is much less.

Hopped on to play another Platinum match.
Joining mid-game (shit.)
Game loads it's Goddess/Collectors (shit.)
Run around looking for teammates and I find 3 Turian Ghosts (lol.)

Stayed on for one more match. We cleared Jade in 21 minutes. Not too shabby for pubbies.
My Turian Ghost had been specced for maximum survivability, but I'm going to respec and take Overload again.

Any tips for a newbie? I just got back to ME3 after ignoring it for 6 months, decided to go for MP! I don't have anything unlocked, I noticed a lot of new classes got added. I started as a Human Engineer, and I am saving all my credits for 99k Spectre Pack. Is this the right thing to do?

Nope. You should max your low level stuff first. Buy lots of recruit packs until you're maxed on your first weapons. Then vets. This will build you consumable stockpile as well as give you some decent weapons and mods. For now, try to only get your rares from weekly challenges. That's not to say you shouldn't buy a spectre pack here and there.

PLayed some good rounds last night with a team of 3 paladins and me as a Volus Engineer - man fire exposions EVERYWHERE.

was fantastic. every party should have a volus in there - so handy for escort missions and revives.

Got a PSP - Cerberus Harrier III. Happy with that. Really want to level up my typhoon though as it is a little light on the power at just I.

Human engineer is an excellent class thanks to tech explosions. Cast incinerate to ignite enemies, then follow up with overload while they burn, causing an explosion. I like to spec incinerate to radium, recharge speed and armour damage. Overload make sure to spec to both the first and second chain overload options, and I like recharge speed. The idea is this will let you case incinerate into a group igniting more than one enemy. The follow up overload will jump from your first target to two others, and if they happened to be ignited by the first incinerate they too will explode.

Keep your recharge speed high by going for a low weight loadout, and you'll be setting off tech explosions in rapid succession.

WHy are they so suited for Platinum? what loadout do you use for consumables with the ghost?

I have the Ghost specced for max shields and have zero on overload - using a cerberus harrier 3. Is that the sort of build you need for gold/plat with this character?

These are very good tips for a new player. The Asari Adept is also very good with Stasis/Warp/Throw - great for biotic explosions.

Classes such as the destroyer and the demolisher only benefit from high level weapons.

The Engineer and the Adept dont need much beyond simple light SMGs/Pistols.

Where can I see the challenges for the current week? When do they reset?

Normally you will see a pop up when they're available. You can check the bioware social network as well. In game, if you goto challenges off the multiplayer screen, it will say weekend challenge. Yes they are only availableon the weekends.

Since the Ghost has an "oh shit" button, it's not particularly utilitarian to put any more than the first three ranks into Fitness (some people recommend no fitness, but I like my safety net). Spec Stim Packs for either all damage or a combination of health/damage; never all health. Overload is really great as a crowd control AND a shield stripper, so definitely put all 6 ranks into it. My build is 6/6/6/5/3.

I dont think weight reduction is that necessary, doesn't the Assault rifle buff from Tactical Cloak last like 10 secs? I really only use the Cloak for that and even without weight reduction skills, the cooldown will still be below 10 secs. I think you would be better off with more weapon damage to be honest.

Balance changes delayed to tomorrow...
Hey everyone, we are delaying the balance changes until tomorrow to coincide with N7 day.

This week we have a set of new challenges going into the game for some of the missing powers/weapons as well as some wave balance changes to Cerberus on Bronze, Silver, and Gold. We are also renaming the title for the Halloween challenge due to popular demand :)

http://masseffect.bioware.com/community/n7day/
Welcome to the first annual N7 Day! To commemorate the 5 year anniversary this month of the original Mass Effect, BioWare will be celebrating with a day filled with in-game and online fun. And you can join us!

Over the last 5 years we have seen Commander Shepard’s tale unfold and it’s been as much a journey for us as our fans. We are humbled by the support and passion of each and every one of you. Mass Effect wouldn’t be what it is today without you, and sharing the experience with our fans was the first thought on our minds. We created N7 Day for you—an opportunity to unite us and our fans in a global celebration of Mass Effect.

It’s a day for everyone, where we can put down our Omni Tools, and raise a glass of Serrice Ice Brandy (or soda for the younger crowd) while we relive our favorite memories from the series.

We have a whole host of fun activities planned for you, too! There will be online events, in-game rewards, behind-the-scenes, N7 Day exclusive assets, and much, much more! Stay tuned for updates on how you can get involved.

Be sure to mark November 7th, N7 Day on your calendars, and join us for a memorable day of festivities—Your day.
Sounds good. :)

Ultra-rare weapon for everybody tomorrow.

"It's also the first N7 Day tomorrow, which means logging into Mass Effect 3 multiplayer between 8am GMT and 7.59am on November 8th, will automatically grant you an ultra-rare weapon and six consumable items as part of the limited edition N7 Day Loyalty Pack. Mass Effect Trilogy is also out today, in case you're wondering"

I'm betting they actually mean URs too. Not the traditional N7 promotional weapons.
Although I hope players with maxxed manifests get N7 weapons. My Hurricane is only level VI!

I've run several different builds, all effective.

Right now I'm running a 6/6/6/6/0 build.

Stim packs are set for shields just because it helps me get out of trouble a little easier. Whenever I use a stim pack chances are I am under fire and every extra bit of shield helps.
Also, I don't really find myself in too many situations where I wished I was doing more damage. The Turian Ghost is extremely effective because of its AR damage bonus , stim packs and maneuverability. I took that 6/6/6/6/0 build into Platinum with a Particle Rifle X. We got Condor/Reapers and I felt nearly invincible. No problem soloing a late wave. Ended with more points than the rest of the team combined.

N7 day is cool. My Turian Sentinel needs a Hurricane upgrade, so anything that gets more N7 weapons faster is cool with me. Curious what the other events and rewards will be.

I think the Asari Valkyrie has become one of my favorite classes to play as. I always seem to want to take out the bosses as quickly as possible regardless of my current kit, but with the Valkyrie it's almost unfair how quickly she can decimate bosses.

Sprint (safely) to a boss until they get caught in the AF .. toss Warp to BE + debuff and then start unloading my Piranha in their faces while the AF and Warp continue to debuff them and they seem to just melt.

What's with all the bad players these days? Damn, I've used more mats the past weekend than I have in a long long time. People aren't taking care of themselves and generally I'm the last man standing. I'm not even talking about Platinum, but Silver and Bronze. Some of these guys have scores high enough to have been playing a long time, so I definitely don't know what's going on. I'm not the best player out there, but I've been number 1 in points in pretty much every game I've been in over the past few days and generally I'm number 2 or sometimes 1 and not by much. These days I've been the 70000 point range with the next person around 40k. It's crazy. Did something happen recently?

Yeah tell me about it, one match I had to solo three waves of Geth on Silver; they never used a single god damn medi-gel throughout the whole match. Another match, I used a total 5 medi-gels and 4 rockets on Silver, just absurd. I'm usually #1 in points, even before the recent DLC, but I hate doing more work and carrying pugs..

Pugs could be using low tiered weapons to grind out those challenges and are just getting stomped by the enemies. Overall quality of players dropped, I noticed more players being oblivious.

My build.
Annihilation Field can be radius instead of damage. I wreck Gold with this build. Some people play her as a bomb (popping AF and TA.) I think losing Damage Reduction in the middle of a fight is not really a good idea. Debuffs from AF and Warp + TA DR means the Valkyrie should be getting in close and melting bosses. When used with a Hurricane/Reegar etc the damage output is incredible.

Thread.

Cheers for this. I've been using your build, and the Valkyrie can pack quite a punch. AF debuff -> tech armour explosion -> AF explosion alone does a pretty tremendous amount of damage. Coupled with a high damaging weapon to fill the gap, you're tough as hell.

shouldn't the "loyalty" packs be out by now..? still nothing for me, and i gotta leave for a few days in 2 hours.. can i still get it later next week? or is it really only reclaimable today?
