I think I get an Avenger upgrade every other pack. It's really not a good gun at all.

^I was in the same position a few weeks ago, got great advice from the other GAFfers in this thread: Buy Recruit and Veteran packs until you max out all your commons, such as the Avenger. Not only will you get some important stuff (weapon mods, for example) but once a particular is maxed, it is taken out of the pack rotation and you'll never see them again. The only exemption is the common human characters; they'll keep showing up regardless
Amd i'm thankful for that, it makes the 60 promotions challenge a little bit less painful.

Currently working on the Biotic Mastery Challenge banner, I rarely ever use biotics so I'm just about starting from zero. The sound effect they use for biotic explosions sounds so gratifying through headphones, the Asari Justicar's heavy melee as well. No wonder my Phaeston AR is taking so long, I'm using the biotics like 90% of the time now.

the executioner pistol made that class so sick. pit the power damage amp and armour piercing on it. stasis. headshot. boom!

Asari Adept/Vanguard is still pretty decent against Cerberus on Gold. You can put everyone except Dragoons and Atlas on Statis, which give you plenty of time for headshots. Just put the headshot mod on your pistol and there you go!
Been playing with the Geth Infiltrator yesterday with a Piranha X with the accuracy mod and the armor-piercing+damage mod one(the Piranha is already light for a shotgun, so extra weight isn't too bad), Hunter Mode specced for more accuracy, rate of fire and damage, only took the weapon damage bonus from the passive tree + the proximity mine debuff...
Damn, I forgot how strong a Geth Infiltrator with the right stuff can be! I tried with the Crusader X before, but I don't like how easy it is to miss your targets with that gun.

The game really wants me to play Salarian Engineer. I've maxed it out from item packs, but there doesn't seem to be anything special about it.
This nice ADAS Engineer video was brought to my attention by someone trying to lure me back to the game. It's always nice to see the ADAS get some love.

Have you tried creating a lobby instead of joining one? One time my friend could not connect to my game for no good reason at all, after a few min of troubleshooting his network we had the idea for him to create and invite all of us instead, worked without issue

Oh N7 Slayer how I love thee. Got it yesterday and the first time on my third match with him got the highest score in platinum. Scores are pretty worthless but it was still pretty nice. It's essentially my Asari vanguard but with spammable grenades.

I like the Turian Havoc just because it feels like more effort was put into his animations than the entirety of Vega's character.

I dont know why, but that made me laugh.
But yeah, i love the Turian Havoc/Ghost heavy melee animation. Too bad its not as powerful as it looks.

I've made the move into Silver+ territory now I think. I've been completing Gold rounds with extractions ever since I got a couple more "gold viable" characters, i.e. turian ghost & N7 paladin along with my geth solider/flamer.
Are there other characters that are similarly "built"/OP so that relatively new people can take them into Gold and be successful? Also what has helped is I started buying Arsenal packs instead of Reserves, so now I actually have a few decent guns like the Striker, Reegar, Carnifex etc.
Still no Harrier and no Geth Juggernaut. And the Juggs will be a while because I plan on spamming Arsenal packs instead of Reserve packs so that I can get better equipment for the classes I already have.

I believe I have mine specced out like this.
He's used like a Tech Vanguard, I guess. But Havoc Strike isn't as safe as Biotic Charge; there's no short periods of invulnerability, if I remember correctly. On the plus side, it's easy to slip away with his side, or backwards dodge maneuvers immediately afterwards. And if you use Cryo Blast, or equip some Incendiary/Cryo/Disruptor Ammo you can set up some easy Tech Explosions. Acolyte is recommended as secondary to strip away shields.
I believe they buffed Havoc Strike a couple of times since I last used him. Should try him out the next time I play.

Alliance Inflitration Unit. Even if you don't use her with shotguns in mind she's essentially invincible

Yea, not really. I've used her with a Reegar, Piranha, GPS as well as a Harrier.
I prefer her with a Harrier, and still top the boards just about every time.

I wish I had the former. =/ I'm not that familiar with Paladin, as I've only tried him a couple of times.
Geth Engineer works well on Gold, but might need more experience from the player.

The Geth Soldier is one of my favorites--good mobility, high shields (especially with Cyclonic Mods), high DPS/Recharge due to the Flamer. Give him the Acolyte, a Pistol Amp if you want, and watch everything burn to death.
He's damn near unkillable with a Cyclonic Mod 3 and Stronghold Package V.
The Paladin is a walking self detonator. I asked the guys here for tips, and that was it--beat everything to death with your shield, set off explosions, send primed enemies into crowds for explosions, etc.
Give him a shot, it's an eye-opener. Just keep your Recharge speed high, you'll be blowing up a lot of stuff.

He's invulnerable currently for almost all of the animation which is longer than biotic charge, but since he doesn't regain any shields/barrier from the ability and can only rely on his grenades which are limited in amount, he's pretty much a far riskier vanguard which probably has a greater dps output post havok if a grenade is used, as well as awesome dodge if you used it properly.

tried. kicks me off xbl as soon as it doesnt load properly. couldnt even get online for gears. net connection is fine..xbl drops in and out.
I was with a group yesterday with a guy and a girl who were very cheerful and laughing a lot, it was a nice change from the usually quiet PC community. I even put a pause to my Commando/Machine Mastery waves grinding and took my Krogan Warlord to smash some enemies with my hammer just to hear them laugh at how ridiculously cool this guy is.
I wish there was more people like that. Would make the multiplayer even better.

This was a problem for the PSN too--wife and I got kicked from 5 matches before even starting.
But Dead Space worked fine.

Feels like I'm at the point where Bronze is too easy, but every time I join Silver the team gets wrecked.

are you doing pick up games with randoms? I've had good experiences at any difficulty with them. Sure, might not be an extraction every time but it's not like we get mopped either. I'd say stick with Silver and keep buying packs for whatever you want or need. For the most part a failed Silver will earn you more than a successful Bronze run. Depends on how far you get, how fast, etc, but a good rule of thumb I'd say.
You play on PC right? I'm not sure how you can get wrecked on Silver every time like you say, since I always extract while playing Silver and I doubt that I'm carrying the whole team every single time. Most players are actually good/decent(except those idiots who don't help with hacking or escort objectives). It does happens that I carry the team though, especially if I play one of the OP class with the right guns and mods, like a Geth Infiltrator with a Piranha X equipped with armor piercing and accuracy mods.

I think Phaeston is an uncommon weapon, so you can get upgrades through Veteran Packs. You could also get it through Spectre Packs, although you'll have less chance in them, but you'll get better rare weapons, mods, gears and classes anyway.
If you're doing Silver games, I don't mind helping out. I play for fun and Challenges these days, so I play whatever difficulty I feel like. I bought so many Recruit packs for the free XP they give for the 60 promotions challenge that I maxed all four consumables to 255 and i'll have enough rank I equipments to last me for a long time...
Also, been playing with the good old Turian Soldier for the 200 waves challenge and I forgot how good the Marksman power is. I've been doing great with him and a Collector Rifle X that have the magazine and the best armor-piercing mods. Really wish my Typhoon was better than rank II or Harrier was better than rank I, as I'm sure it would do a better job.

I've never added anyone on Origin, but presumably I should to organize games. I guess I'll take a risky guess and add the guy on Origin named Bisnic with a Wrex icon.

Yeah, well the chances that there is another Bisnic with a Wrex avatar on Origin is rather low, so I suppose it is me.
There is better ARs than the Phaeston, so I suppose you would be better by just buying Arsenal Packs. It will only take you around 3 successful Silver games to buy one since you get around 35k credits and one pack is 99k, and it always have 2 or 3 rare weapons inside.

I made it through some Silver games, at least. A Possessed Praetorian chased me all the way across the map when I was the only one alive and I completely forgot about my missile launcher. I don't know if the other players thought I was really clever or really stupid, because I still finished the wave.
