Mass Effect 3 |OT| Space Jesus Returns (tag all spoilers)

Have Bioware ever done a poll to see which is the most popular class (and least popular) class in ME1 and 2?

iSJiY.jpg

Man now I'm upset because I remembered the idea that Chinner and I had for a thread but never went through with because it was claimed by Blue Ninja like eight years ago.

(it was going to be set up like a dating sim game thread, with anime portrayals of the characters and esoteric bios like blood types and "moe" quotes)
Do it anyway please

I don't think they performed a poll, but in-game data submitted by players showed that Soldier was overwhelmingly popular.

From what I remember something absurd like 80% plays Soldier.

soldier and engineer respectively in ME2.

Thanks.

I played as Soldier as well in ME1 because I wanted some familiarity. That said, it was Infiltrator for ME2.

I have to say, I'd have thought that Vanguard would have been right up there.

Not surprised about the engineer though.

What do you guys think about Adept and Sentinel (will be my choice for ME3)?

Thank you!

"83% of players created their own face for Shepard."

That actually surprises me on some level. Molding a character's face can be fun stuff when it works out right, and I always do, but I figured more would go with the default just to jump in more quickly.

Vanguards got a lot of flak early on because people thought they sucked. That might have driven a few players away.

Shame about not more people playing as female Shepard. The exposure on Female Shepard thankfully came around the release of ME2.

I used the default face as well. However, the female version, which is not based on anyone is better served being customized.

Sentinel has been slightly nerfed for ME3. Their class specific skill, Tech Armor, now greatly increases power cool down times by 80% when it is enabled. So you gain greater damage mitigation, but at the cost of throwing around biotic & tech abilities often. They do gain the lift grenade, which is pretty damn fun.

I played Soldier & Vanguard in ME1, Sentinel exclusively in ME2 and I think I'm going back to Vanguard in ME3.

I never played as either Sentinel or Vanguard. I like the phasing through object for Vanguard but I really do find the tech armor for sentinel mighty sexy. If I am not mistaken the cool down periods can be significantly cut down if you stick with it.

Pre-ordered two CE's of the 360 version. Got all the achievements in ME1 and ME2, plan on doing the same for ME3. This is easily the series I've replayed the most with over 300+ hours across both games.

In my first blind run (mostly Renegade) as a male Shepard, Garrus died and I stayed faithful to Ashley. Kept the Collector's base. Was an Infiltrator (ME1, Adept). I also didn't escort no one back to the ship, so the Normandy on that record is extremely quiet. I think I also got Morinth. Kept the Heretics, destroyed the Genophage data, kept the Cerberus data for myself.

In my second run with my female Shepard (Paragon) who was a Sentinel in ME1 and 2 (which made Insanity a lot easier), everyone survived including the crew members. I blew up the Collector's Base, Miranda quit Cerberus (I took her with me to the last battle), didn't romance nobody except for Kelly but that doesn't count. Had Kaidan killed off despite ending up with him in ME1. Gave the Cerberus data to the Alliance.

In my third run, I made mixed decisions, but it was mostly Renegade (male). Was a Vanguard which was extremely fun. The council died in the first one. I blew up the Collector's Base, destroyed the Heretics, kept the Genophage data, had everyone including the crew members survive, and I cheated on Liara with Tali. I kept Samara, kept the Cerberus data for myself and several other decisions.

I plan on doing one final run as a Paragon Male Shepard before shelving ME2. Seriously, I absolutely love the ME series and I can't wait to see all the decisions that were made in both games come into play. Great thread Blue Ninja. I enjoyed the ME3 SP demo and the MP demo as well. The MP is surprisingly addictive and good, so I'll definitely be jumping into that as well. If it means that I get to punch Khasilah Al Jilani the face one last time, it'll make it an awesome game. When I get to Omega, I better expect to see Turians pushing rickshaws and a scene of Kai Leng breaking into Shepard's private cabin to have himself a bowl of cereal! Also Kai Leng using a giant toothbrush as his assassination weapon.

Its like the second to last upgrade, so its not very quick unless you put heavily into it. Sentinels are great cause they have something for everything. You can take on shielded enemies and mech no problem, but still set up biotic explosions.

Theyre the best class for SP to me because of the fact that you can always coordinate really well with your two squadmates for crazy combos and ability attacks. This is a weakness in the MP because unless you are extremely communicative with your squadmates its much harder to really to set things up and utilize the Sentinel's abilities which arent meant for a loner.

It drove me away at least. Being a low level Vanguard sucks, especially since you could find yourself doing what appears to be a smart move and clear out the last of the opposition, but then a monster closet you didn't know about lets out five more enemies right next to you that you have no way of dealing with. A couple of cheap deaths like that completely soured me on the class, as it felt like the game was cheating me.

As appealing as the Charge ability is, I think the only thing that would make me want to revisit the class is a return to the ME1 style of enemy encounters, without waves of enemies.

I didn't play ME2 on 360 so when I finish ME3, I'm going to have a complete run through, playing the games consecutively with the same character. I could start ME1 now, but I don't want to leave the game half finished before ME3 releases, which I have to play as soon as possible. I don't think I've ever been this excited about replaying a game, let alone an entire series.

Yeah, I looked through the talent tree for Tech Armor in the demo and it seems that you can cut the cool down to only a 50% increase while the armor is enabled.

Oh it's 65%, was a bit off then. Still kinda overwhelming considering the number of classes. It being the default probably boosts it a lot though. One of my friends didn't realize there were other classes when I lent him ME1. Haha, I am the 36% procent.

Don't we get to choose class separately for MP? I have yet to try the MP btw. How is it?

I'll be going Adept; I like Vanguards and Engineers as well, but I love tossing miniature black holes around. I guess biotics are more effective up-front than they were in Insanity ME2, so there's that as well.

"83% of players created their own face for Shepard."

83% of the people who bought ME2 are idiots.

You talking shit about Obama Shepard?

I didn't see it mentioned in the OP, so I'll just ask: is there an interactive comic in 3 so people who didn't play the first two games can make the choices?

There will be something so that you can make the big choices, yes. Whether it's a comic or something else, and whether it will stretch all the way back to the ME1 choices is unclear.

And it does annoy me that people will probably be able to use it to ensure that their entire crew survived the Suicide Mission. Takes away the value of doing everything right in ME2.

Alright, that's cool. I hope you can choose who lived/died at the end of 2.

I don't understand why so many wusses like to dance around with magic powers or let robots do their all fighting for them.

Just shoot them in the head while you're invisible, and they're on fire and/or frozen. And then make a robot do your fighting for you.

I doubt you'll be able to choose to specifically kill certain characters, per se. It'll probably roughly match up to the actual choices you had to make in ME2 (so pick who goes in the vents, who leads fireteam, etc), and then tabulate the consequences.

This is all my speculation, though. I am curious how they'll handle the whole loyalty thing.

"Should you help out [Team Member x]? Yes or No?" Rinse and repeat for every crew member?

So I was going to go rent Mass effect 1 and get a fem shepard run going and I was wondering, if I put the default fem Shepard in 1, and transfer it into 2, when I transfer it into 3, will it look like the new default fem shep? Or will I get a chance to change it?

Sorry, only played the 1st one and I'm about to get into the 2nd one soon

You will stop insulting *my* magic powers good sir.

You'll be able to change appearance in 3 again.

something I've been wondering about

how does finding the cure for the genophage or saving the Rachni queen help in fighting the Reapers? It would take at least a couple of generations for either species to built up the numbers required to fight in a galaxy-wide war, yet the reapers are already attacking Earth. Could it be that the game doesn't actually end with the annihilation of the entire reaper fleet (yeah, right, this is still Bioware we're talking about :p), but maybe with just the defeat of the Harbinger or the first attack wave, and Shepard is laying the foundations for the galaxy resistance that will fight in future wars against the Reapers? /speculation

that said, I already can't wait for the inevitable ME4 taking place 100 years after the events of ME3, maybe even with a non-human PC!

Am I on BSN already?

Also wtf is that side with cerberus crap?
Keeping the collector's base wasn't stated as siding with them during that moment in the first place.

Oh well that's good.

Any suggestions with what class I should put fem shep in? I'm already renegade soldier in my first play through. Trying to go Paragon so I can get best of both worlds. I don't want to be a soldier too, so I want to try something new.

Go Sentinel, Adept or Engineer. Furthest things from Soldier there is.

When is the reviews embargo up?

Guessing Friday or so for first exclusive US, then Monday for everybody.

Speculation, some stuff inferred by the demo:
Rachni could probably breed really fucking fast in the 3 years since ME1, Krogan are more interested in a cure as an incentive to make an alliance with other species.
