Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

DA2 was the weirdest gaming experience ever for me, i could see al the flaws and why it was crap, but somehow i couldn't stop playing it. I even finished i twice.

Well, I didn't finish it twice, but I did finish it. I couldn't look away.

I had Garrus keep mentioning how Prothean Athane looked during final parts of Thesia and it got me wondering. Does the Prothean in the DLC add anything else to this?

Yes. He flat out teases and belittles Liara about the fact Protheans were their gods.

I played DA2 and thought it was passable. I didn't like it nearly as much as the first, but I never hated it like some people did.

I never wanted to play much of my second playthrough, though, which is pretty dire for a Bioware game. Usually I go back to their games at least twice.

Look at you being wrong!

It's not a very functional RPG and it's not a very functional third-person shooter, and how much you can deal with that when the foundation the game stands on - its characters and choices mattering in the game world - falls apart is up to individual preference. I remember ME1 as much better than ME3 for the reason that it held its elements together in the way that ME3 did not. Never mind that ME1's RPG elements probably were better than 3's if you had to compare them.

What were the supposed improvements over ME2's RPG elements that that Bioware guy highlighted in the comment earlier, by the way? The Penny Arcade comment press release thing.

Yeah, I agree, and I'm also sympathetic to that. If the fans had their way they'd make BioWare churn out Mass Effect games non-stop. As developers, and people, they're probably tired of working on the same damn game and universe year after year and, wrapping up the trilogy, likely wanted to leave it be for a while. End the Shepard trilogy and take a break to do other stuff.

They just happened to do it in the laziest, douchiest and worst written way possible.

Would have had zero issue if they killed off shepherd to end the trilogy/end choice paths from spiraling out of control in future games and had a different team work on the games. But to destroy my favorite fictional universe without it even making any sense is just BLARG.

I don't understand all this DA2 talks. I've only have played the mass effect series. I feel left out. If I was gonna get into DA, should it be DA:O?

the only way to play da2 is to have hawke be a warrior imo

they were actually fun to play as

and they aoe mowed shit down super easily, meaning the waves of fuckers werent annoying

cant even imagine it as a rogue or mage tbqh

i kinda liked da2 :(

it was a shittier mass effect with swords
Nah, mages could do some major damage as well. They are even quite decent in close combat. You just can't stand around in one place for too long, because they are more fragile.

Regardless of what you play as, you'd have turned your brain off pretty quickly, especially during the fights in the city.

Do you still get the confrontation between Liara and Javik if you didn't take Javik with you to Thessia?
What confrontation? The only one I can remember is the one on Thessia, and that was just Javik giving her cold hard facts special delivered in the form of a knuckle sandwich.

I had Garrus and Liara with me. When you return to the ship Liara flips out and biotic rages at Javik in his quarters.

No idea if it happens if you bring him along.

Yeah it happens if you take him along. And it has a lot more context that way. Great mission by the way. One more reason to feel sick about the ending.

She threatens him with an ass kicking unless he says he made it all up after Thessia. Javik then tells her the Asari are special, and that is why they did what they did. Then you ask him if that is the truth, and he is all "I told her what she wanted to hear."

This of course leads to speculation. But this kind of speculation is acceptable.

you'd think an archaelogist and prothean expert wouldn't be so upset or surprised about an ancient outdated religion turning out to be ancient astronauts

Wow! This game really does have a lot of different layers. I somehow missed all of that. I took him with me on every mission, but I would have remembered that if it happen while I was playing.

If you don't interrupt with Shepard, Liara will leave pissed and he wont be able to say anything so...

Traynor would tell you that there's a situation in Port Cargo Hold immediately after the Thessia mission.

Your Joker pilot insists that I call myself Prothy the Prothean. I insisted he allow me to throw him out the airlock.

What I didn't like about him until that point is that he was so one note. His solution to everything is to kill it. It got dull after a while.

I wouldn't say outdated because they apparently still have it as a planet wide religion, but I wonder why Liara isn't delighted that it's essentially confirmed that all her gods exist.

What. Explain how.

Well it's over now. I turned it on in the middle of the segment but what I did see was their tech/gaming guy talking about how everyone's furious over how it ended and he mentioned how it could be the first time ever that a game ending is changed (obviously incorrect). And the anchor chick just kept nodding her head and pretending to know what he was talking about.

Not really interesting by itself but it was kind of shocking to me at least to see this uproar on a news channel. It's not uncommon to see a 3 minute segment on a popular game that comes out but it's nothing like this usually.

They're actually talking about this ending BS on CNN right now.

I'm serious...
Oh my, can the resistance really win? If word gets out how utterly bad the ending of this game is, this could cost EA future sales. They may have no choice but to seriously address this. lol

I would imagine the charity aspect would be the focus. I mean the rage is quite epic, but not really nation news worthy.

And to reiterate a point I made earlier, if Bioware doesn't a least match (or preferably double) the donations after they do nothing, I will be extra pissed.

PTSD Asari? Is that the one in the reception area at Huerta? I never got to interact with her, what was I missing?

She tells a story about how her crew landed on a colony world, a good friend of hers turned into a husk, and basically everyone (including a young human child) was turned into husks, lots of death, rarr rarr. It's heavily implied (or outright stated) this is the same colony world Joker's family lives on.

She keeps telling her Asari friend that she'd feel safer with a gun, even though she's clearly paranoid and suffering PTSD. A request pops up on your Spectre terminal and, if you authorise it and issue her a gun, she disappears, having committed suicide.

I took pics to commemorate the event.

Probably. Like I said I only caught it midway through so I don't know what they were talking about. I only caught him describing why everyone was upset, how it doesn't answer questions and all that stuff.

The anchor got some kind of snide gaming is for kids remark off too but thankfully he was able to correct her in time.

A few things. She is one of the few characters that actually disappear after she has run out of conversation options. The only one, I think? So she is gone regardless of what you choose. And choosing to authorize results in suicide, loss of war assets. Not sure what happens otherwise. Maybe nothing?

According to BSN and reddit, she actually says the girl is name Hilary, which is the name of Joker's theory, which pretty much locks it down.

Also, another subtle thing. There are two dead Quarians that talk about their son. Both of them talk about Jona as their son. Sorry Jona, your parents are DEAD!

Was there supposed to be a crew member in the life support bay or empty? the only character i kicked off the ship was Zaeed in ME2 cause he was dreadful.

That's where Javik is I think.

Edit: Or not. And I again display how much attention I pay to random place names on the ship.

Jona's mom died in ME2 though

Luckily Jona is probably dead too, so its not too bad for him.

Ahhh, thanks. I did listen to her stories, though I didn't make the joker connection. And I don't think I authorised a gun to anyone. I was worried I'd missed out on a side-quest.
