Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

I couldn't take him seriously because he was an asian ninja replete with samurai sword and anime acrobatics. I don't think they could have been more cliche.

I'm glad I decided to read this thread before playing ME2. I just started it when ME3 came out last week. Now I don't even care.

I was replaying ME2 all these past weeks, then this happened and I uninstalled it. What's the point?

And speaking of no point, the Batarians got a raw deal. What happens to the rest? Do they show up on the Alliance side of things or the Reapers'?

One of the advantages of the ending was that it allowed Bioware to handwave the whole trial and guilt thing for killing them.

Thane should have ruined his shit, even deathly ill.

Nah man, to be completely fair ME3 is a great game. Most people here just hate the conclusion, but man what a ride. I really enjoyed it and it is the only video game ever that has pulled real emotion from me through some of the scenes. This is a top tier game for sure.

Kai Leng wouldn't have been so bad if:

1. His first appearance was in ME 2, in a cameo.

2. His fighting style wasn't so dumb. Melee could work but it has to be only one aspect, when he drops in close to you for CQC. Having your squad shoot the heck out of him while he does anime dodges before he yells to the gunship "Cover me! I have to recharge!" makes him ridiculously weak. He should have ranged attacks, maybe biotic ones?

If they had fixed those two things, and gone with a less stupid design for him (there are better ones in the concept art book), he could have been the Boba Fett of the franchise.

There isn't much left of the Batarians. However there is a sidequest in ME 3 that leads you to Bhalak the terrorist from ME 1's Bring down the sky DLC. At this point you can attempt to convince him to join the Armada or kill him.

iF you're FemShep and "Go to a private spot" in the hospital and try to ask him again he says his condition has left him weak. If he can't go two rounds with FemShep then...

Haha :P

Though I guess it was sort of a tactical bad move on Thane's part to jump forward into the fight like that when the other guy is wielding a katana. He should have just sniped him in the head.

The worst you can say about Kai Leng's design is that it's out of place with the rest of the universe.

But otherwise, the reason he sucks is that he is a complete failure. The dude can't do ANYTHING right. Even his comebacks are lame.

Leng: You're still slow, Shepard!
Shepard: I'm only slow because I'm not running! You ran at the Citadel! You ran on Thessia!
Leng: Shut up!

Had he been good at what he does, we'd have loved the guy.

No. They found a way to control reaper forces, they just needed a way to apply this on Reapers themselves. The soldiers all had implants that were used to control them.

Hmm well the way I interpreted the scene is that they were at the very heart of the reaper source. You saw weird black energy all around them, to me that seemed like Reaper signals or something. The reaper energy was so powerful that it was totally messing up Shepard and Anderson. TIM was already mostly in their control so he had the ability to use that reaper energy. It was all very dream like and weird but there was clearly some energy, some thing floating all around them.

Didn't he have ranged attacks in the boss fight in TIM's office? I swear he was shooting out biotic waves from his sword or some nonsense.

I didn't mind Kai Leng at all. Was pretty nice to have an over-the-top character like him 'stalking' me and my crew. I did genuinely want to kill him for what he did to Thane though, so I appreciate an event like that instigating genuine hatred in me, haha.
He had a massive derp-field that turned everyone's brains and motoric functions off when he was near, resulting in badly scripted totally braindead 'action' scenes.
I minded. A lot.

He could shoot out sword energy slices. Really. I'm not kidding.

In the scene at the end, with Anderson talking to Shepard, when he says he's proud of him and calls him "son", is it wrong that I felt like my Shepard felt closer to him because they were both black?

It felt kind of like a father/son relationship, like he was my idol, especially since I think my Shepard was orphaned.

It was nice.

I thought he was a good antagonist. Seeing he leave Thessia with the Prothean VI pissed me off. And that Shepard line was hilarious.

And then the elevator arrived

Thane pretty much gave him the business. He just got tired from having his space illness and Kai Leng finished him with a pretty nasty sword move. A healthy Thane would have beaten that guy. Thane even said that guy should be embarrassed or something along those lines.

It's a shame since ME3 is actually a good game.I'm glad I went into a blackout before the game's release.

Edit:The ending is bad, but not bad to the point of making the whole game bad.

I guess, but it didn't seem like it on Thessia, where most of the difficulty from him relying on the gunship. Lame.

Also, he should have had a gimmick like Boba Fett did with his jetpack. A good gimmick, not a magical unexplained sword. Did he actually use invisibility cloaks in the game? He should have, could have made his dumb melee attacks more palatable. As he is right now he just runs around slowly in a stupid stance, completely exposed, while you shoot him dozens of times. That is completely laughable.

Kai Leng is everyone's bitch in this game. I don't get why he even exists. He's supposed to be this badass ninja that fucks people up, right?

I just don't like it when they make villains suck in order to make the heroes look good, and that's how I feel about Kai Leng. He's set up to be shepards rival, the replacement that Cerberus got when Shepard deserted. But Kai Leng just sucks, while shepard is awesome, when they both should be awesome. But when we actually start fighting? COVER ME I HAVE TO RECHARGE

They mentioned Shep's mom a few times. I don't know if one of the options was to be an orphan though.

i don't like it when they make heroes suck to make villains look good (i.e. worfing)

just like they did with kai leng

But they try so hard to make him a bad ass which is why he failed (for me anyway).
His dipshit dialog made it worse. Cereaously :p

lol my Shep was black as well, but you have to understand that , that scene was intended for a white dude shepard. I guess it was a nice touch though. Anderson dying really did touch me a bit. I felt like I really did lose a friend. Little touches like that is what makes this game so special and why I guess we are all so passionate about the ending.

That and he was threatening people with his palm all the time. In true anime fashion, he could shoot stuff from his palm, apparently.

It was probably just biotics, but it still looked silly when he'd have his hand out with a fireball swirling out from it.

ok, so.. are we just going to pretend we don't notice that someone named Shepard, you know, like the dead guy who got screwed into killing himself for no good reason, apparently likes the game as a whole?

just asking.

I don't think the toothbrush incident gets enough coverage, it tends to get over shadowed by Kai Leng snacking on Anderson's Lucky Charms. However I will say this I bet Shepard is very glad Kai Leng left his toothbrush at home. There is no way Shepard would have survived if Kai Leng had his most lethal weapon.

You can't just call "misleading" such a subjective matter... And to the point of suing the company, smh.
He isn't suing anyone, he is making a complaint. You will find people complain to the FTC for a whole variety of reasons for a whole variety of things.
