ME1: Hale > Meer

ME2 & ME3: Meer >> Hale

I don't know what happened in between the first two games, but Mark Meer got a hell of a lot better.
Except he never reached the level Hale already had during ME1, and she only improved a lot as well from ME1 -> ME3.

Also, a woman being the saviour (oh wait, haha no actually she dooms it but whatever) of the galaxy is way better than yet again a man.

Bakara knew what was up. :D

I've only played like 2-3 hours of ME1 with a femshep, and Hale's voice just doesn't do it for me.

Its not that Meer is all that great, Hale just sounds... I don't know... Flat?

The child is a problem, but not what it represents, just that it's a child. They should have gone with something unrecognizable.

If I were a game designer, I would do everything in my power to craft a narrative the shies away from using children. Child VA are so hit-or-miss that it is better to just play it safe IMO. I cannot express the amount of disappointment that I have for Bioware with regards to keeping the post-credit scene in the game. Buzz Aldrin's disjointed epilogue and the kid's horrific delivery make the scene literally painful to watch.

Vent Kid should have been Vent Puppy, cowering in the vent, whimpering. Then boarding the shuttle, looking all happy with its tongue out and tail wagging. Then BOOM dubstep Reaper explosion.

It should have been Harbinger... seriously not a single exchange after all the "nuh uh you are" from ME2 and The Arrival? I really wanted an ending where it's me looking at Harbinger while laughing and pushing the kill all Reapers button.

I'm of the opinion that Mass Effect is much more interesting with a female protagonist.
Pretty much every game that does not explicitly needs a male protagonist is more interesting with a female lead character. There are way too many stories already which revolve around men saving the world and getting the girl, so its great if games offer the possibility to reverse gender roles and have the woman be strong and proactive.

So I should not be emotional connected to any of my friends I made throughout the games. okydoky.

Yeah, in the 1Up interview Walters did before the game released, he's kind of surprised someone wouldn't immediately be attached to a human kid, and acts like he finds it implausible someone could be equally attached to an Asari kid, for instance.

Really, the whole interview he sounds really clueless, like he didn't expect someone to not immediately fall for all their EARTH IS IN DANGER marketing.

I think one sign of people overreacting is the "space magic" pejorative thrown about in regards to the ending relay blasts. This is sci-fi, you should know anything is game. The reason they can travel faster than light is because there's an element that, when electrified, affects mass fields accordingly. Come on, son.

Compound that with the fact that the Reapers were a mystery throughout the entire series, and you could see a "the Reapers are just misunderstood" ending coming quite clearly. You were building a machine in which you didn't know what it did, and the only Prothean around who could shed some light on the superstructure was conveniently a stupid soldier dude.

It's quite funny how Javik is emblematic of everything the Reapers were about: the superior race subjugating and/or eradicating other species.

The reason the ending didn't sit right with me is comprised partially of the aforementioned reason that the Reapers were merely a force and not fully a foe, and the fact that a godlike being ultimately made the decision for Shepard and the player. I hate when "a higher, incomprehensible power" settles things; it's lazy and boring and tells me I'm not in control. On that front, I agree with the arbitrary decisions given to the player, which pay no respect to your prior decision making other than how they shaped your opinion, which may or may not influence your final decision (it did mines, because I dismissed the destroy all synthetics options mostly because of the imprint the characters of EDI and Legion left).

I personally didn't need info dumps that told the state of the universe as you asked, because that's just as bad as what we actually got. They're just hollow words from some quasi-omnipotent...something. I would rather the entire game--and really, the entire series--built up the Reapers better than they did. They were a threat and had ominous intentions, but they were dull.

I just read a very good ending about an IA called Augure protecting galaxy from dark energy by creating the reaper.

I'm confused. Was it leaked script ? Can we talk about it ? Or was it fanfic ? If it was fanfic, why was it almost good ?

Progression in here:

Either you a) come in here bitching or b) what's so bad I don't get it, what's marauder shields, i didnt see that, wait they did what, and then you start bitching

Yup, basically B .

I was fine after my fresh completion of the game. But now that I've slept on and read stuff in this thread, the ending s disappointing as hell. =(

IIRC that was the original direction they were heading but then scrapped it and came up with this nonsense.

Nah, a female lead seems forced in most instances. There are a few exceptions in entertainment I could cite, like Kill Bill. I think that was a great depiction of a female "tough girl" character. We already have the tough girl characyers in the ME universe with Ashley (r.i.p.) and Miranda. They play off the Male shep lead very well. Having a female lead in that part just seems forced. Plus she's all small in stature in the game. If you're gonna do a real female lead at least have her look the part.

It's probably fanfic based on the leaked script from Karpyshyn.

Why is it "forced"? What does that even mean? There isn't an instance where your character's gender matters in any meaningful way to the main story.

By "forced" I mean corny. No way does she head butt a Krogan and things of that nature. I could believe an Asari lead way before a human female lead. There is just too much at stake to have a "Regina Shepard" leading the fight.

Feminism, how does it work?

You're quite the candid sexist, aren't you.

Haha, i bet you cant stand female leads because you feel threatened by the idea that a woman could do something better than a man.

If I'm gonna stare at an ass for 35 hours I'd rather it be a woman's ass.

That's it.
Mass Effect: the Miranda adventures. :lol

Why not? Are you saying a woman can't lead? Or that women should only be given leadership in the easy times, but should step aside for a man when it gets rough or the stakes get high?

Seriously why?

I had forgotten about the Krogan head slam. Maybe Shepard knocked himself out and the end of ME2 and all of ME3 was just a dream.

Him lying in the rubble at the end of 3 is the result of him getting slammed through the wall after he attempted to headbutt a Krogan.

I'm not sexist at all. Do you think there are any female MMA fighters who could beat John Jones? Or Rampage Jackson? Any female football players that could take on Ray Lewis? Any female Kung fu fighters who could have beaten Bruce Lee? These are all physical things that men are more suited for. Women can run circles around us in many things, but we are more suited for combat than they are. This is a fact and not even worth arguing. Keeping in mind, that there are always exceptions to the rules. I love women, I'm married to one. lol

I finally beat it.

I'm gonna skip the holy fuck the ending was horrible thing which has been brought up a billion times by now(although that ending was really fucking horrible) and try to address another travesty..

Why no awesome romance scene with Miranda?! We fall in love in ME2, I stay faithful to her in ME3, shrug off advances from Ashley, Cortez, Tali, Liara, and Diana, tell Miranda she's the only one for me, give her access to alliance funding, warn her about Kai Lang, save her life, save her sister's life, suffer through a long and painful long term relationship while already stressed about trying to save the galaxy and all we get is a couple of dirty lines in a Citadel apartment while stupid Ashley lovers get a 4 minutes love scene of awesome.

Not cool, Bioware, not cool :(

I never got this line of reasoning. The character is ME. I'm not going to objectify my own avatar in this world in any sexual way, just like how I don't have plenty of pictures of my own naked ass to look at.

They give you a pretty explicit sex scene with her right before you start on the point of no return.

You do realize you just made the 'im not racist, i got black friends' defense?

I chose the synthesis ending, I am "The Shepard" etc. etc. etc.

I was okay with it all until the relays began to explode; my EXACT thoughts were something like, "Okay, so if I destroy the relays then pretty much the entirety of the galaxy is stuck in Sol...definitely don't want that so I'll synthesize."

Of course, they got destroyed anyway and I panicked (I know...literal emotion for a game...) because that is NOT what I chose.

I was then pulled right back in when the leaves began to glow blue with circuitry because I think that is a totally awesome concept.

And then I had another "wait...what?" Moment when Liara stepped out of the Normandy because that woman definitely should have died in the Hammer strike (her and Javik were my team throughout the entire game.

All in all? I'm confused. Did the wormhole open up a new dimension? Why weren't Joker and the team glowing blue with circuitry? What is this alien world? How come only 4-5 of my team seem to have made it?

I'd take an "extension" to the endings.
