"There's something wrong on your end, the Crucible isn't firing."
The line that ruined a universe.

The joke was on you, because they all played basically the same end moving.
I also tried shooting the catalyst.
Sorry I'm late to this thread so I'm sure these will likely have been covered but a couple of quick questions regarding Jack and Samara's missions if they died in ME2.
Does Jack just get replaced as a teacher at Grissom Academy if she died? Also does the Ardat-Yakshi monastery mission play out the same if Samara is dead or if Morinth replaced her?
Or do both missions just not take place?
I don't have saves where they died so am just interested to see what happened. Thanks.
I just beat the game.
Got 3 options,
Kill all synthetic life
Control reapers
Make everyone organic/synthetic lifeforms.
I chose the third one.
I didn't want to kill all synthetics especially after learning about the geth's history and seeing how they helped the Quarians rebuild. I didn't like destroying the mass relays from the option I chose though. Maybe I should have done the control the reapers and just had them leave everyone in peace and still have access to mass relays and what not. Oddly enough it seems that all three of thee ended in me dying no matter what.
Is there a list of all the possible endings yet?
While it was a pretty shitty ending, it's obviously going to lead in to the post-game DLC. I don't see how we cansay what is what until that stuff comes out.
Relays blow up regardless of the ending.Alucrid said:I didn't want to kill all synthetics especially after learning about the geth's history and seeing how they helped the Quarians rebuild. How does it lead to ANY post-game DLC? The mass relays are gone. Shepard is gone.
Whoever thought that first battle in London when you have to take down the AA Reaper was a good idea are real dicks. Bursts of almost blinding light and screen shaking really are annoying as a Sniper Infiltrator. I'm trying to line up my shot you dicks!

Bad news: the mass relays are destroyed no matter what you pick.
Relays blow up regardless of the ending.
Because stuff.

Well obviously the post game DLC will have to wait until they sell us the real ending first. Plus they put us back to before the end game as it is now because of their shitty ending.
"You can't help me" The kid in the tunnel is where it started to go south for me
Then they landed on Planet Badwriting in the WTF solar system.
Valve's slap to the face of their fans is being delayed. What if it were Valve? Aside from the obvious, that Valve is incapable of making such a heinous, emotionally abusive slap in the face to their fans.
The relationship between developer and fan base is important. Even a soulless giant like EA has to recognize this.
I thought you were just referring to the human-shaped Reaper plan.WALL-O-TEXT
This is another reason the Catalyst ending was so terrible, there was no conversation and back and forth on the issues, we're told a bunch of stuff completely out of left field and without any discussion are forced to make a dramatic decision we barely understand the ramification of, let alone the rational behind.

I'm thinking to myself that Bioware may not be able to make another full fledged ME game due to the outcry alone. Except for a very small minority, most of us agree the endings are a letdown. I'd imagine you will see this game in the Guiness World Records 2012/2013 Gamer's Edition as having the most Controversial Ending In A Video Game.
Well, we can certainly give them that. They won that award.
I don't get that strategy though. Leave us all pissed off, and then ask for more money? It seems counter intuitive.
We'll confuse you so badly that you'll have no reason but to give us all your money.I don't get that strategy though. Leave us all pissed off, and then ask for more money? It seems counter intuitive.
Who knows. But it is being made. Either that or they are talking about ME4 in the BioTweets. Which I highly doubt since ME3 just came out.
I give it four moths for the epilogue DLC.
This assumes that there will be a new ending.
Which, in my opinion, would be the End of BioWare, as it would be the Ultimate Pandering. They would have then rewritten an entire portion of their game just because a few players did not enjoy it enough to make a stink about a New Ending.
I wonder if there is a list with all possible choices and outcomes. I'd love to read through it. Don't much fancy playing through three hefty games when the choices don't mean anything at the end but I'd still like to know the 'what if's
Pretty sure it's more than that, mate. I know this thread and the BSN aren't exactly great samples to draw from, but there is a LOT of negativity floating around the internet right now. Some polls and Facebook pages dedicated to getting a response from BioWare have already surpassed 20,000 votes. That's less than a week from release.
So, wow. Didn't think it was possible to have a worse ending than Mass Effect 2, but they accomplished it.
I fucking LOVED everything but those last five minutes (well... maybe not the kid and Kai Leng, who is still the shittiest character in the series).
But seriously? I mean, Bioware, if for nothing else than the sake of your fucking FRANCHISE, why the fuck did you do that?
I know it would be cliche, I know it would be whatever... but just give me my stupid ending where Shepard kills the Reapers, and the galaxy celebrates. Shepard can even die, since that makes a lot of thematic sense!
This metaphysical nonsense has no place in this.
Gah.
Still a much better game than ME2. For me it's ME1 >> ME3 >>>>> ME2.
It's a shame all the endings were so unsatisfying. I must have played through 2 at least 5 times to see what the changes mission to mission would be but I can't see me doing that for this one at all. Ultimately it doesn't feel like all that much you do matters.

Exactly. I stood there (well, my Shep did) just staring at the 3 options like;
'No... really? I have to fucking choose one of these 3? What were the options again? Did he says the relays would be destroyed for X? Or was it Y? Which is the paragon ending? Fuck it, I'm going for the middle one... it looks cool.'
It wasn't cool :/
Yup, and in a series built around the notion that your choices do matter it's even more disappointing.
Hell, I'd be happier if we got a Dragon Age style epilogue with text boxes telling us about what happens to some of the more important characters and races and how they are dealing with what happened.
Again, I state that it would be the End of BioWare if they went as far as to pander on that level.
Acting like I'm somehow dismissing that people hate the ending by simply writing 'a few players' is lame.
It was mint flavoured.

This metaphysical nonsense has no place in this. And now you basically just destroyed your entire franchise's universe. What the hell are they supposed to do with Mass Effect 4?
Gah.

I'll even take the bullshit ending we've got right now if they'd explain what happened to everyone else.

I would have honestly loved to see the V.I. from the Citadel (yourself) as the V.I. who talks to you at the end.If the deal with the catalyst hologram was due to Shepard's personal thoughts, why not use Anderson's form? Hell, wouldn't Anderson have also worked better in the dream, considering Shep was supposedly guilty about leaving him on earth?
Why would it be the end?

Because it would set a horrible precedent for games as a storytelling device for them as a company, and possibly for the industry.
Something that like does not interest me and it would be a huge reason for me to stop buying their games.
ME 3's endings have brought me back to 2008 and MGS 4's ending.
Except ME 3's ending is even worse.
It should have been Harbinger and it should have been hostile to Shepard. Instead of "I created the Reapers to control the cycle of organics and synthetics that has worked for millenniums, but since you're here, this is how you destroy/control/something the Reapers"
