Blade Runner
Kingdom of Heaven
Fallout 3
Once Upon a Time in America
Butterfly Effect

etc.

Yeah, re-writing or re-altering a product isn't something new, nor is it something sacrilegious. There are plenty of examples of revising or fixing earlier work.

Was Broken Steel planned from the beginning?

Once upon a time in America got a different ending? The jet Li movie? explain

Thats what they do, but it doesn't tell me what they are. Do they ever explain the mechanics of how the relays propel ships?

The relays create corridors/tunnels/tubes/wormholes between connected relays that are completely free of mass. This means ships are able to travel much faster than light without gaining mass, and can travel across the galaxy in a short time.

I'm not sure it the travel is instantaneous though.

I did....?

Unless the indoctrination theory is correct and Bioware deliberately withheld the ending, it's clear that the future of the franchise in their eyes does not include the mass relays or the Citadel.

Unless...you know...the future of the franchise is going to be in...the PAST! I know i repeat myself.

But is it that hard to believe we could play during the First Contact War? The Krogan Rebellion?

For me the redeeming strength of the Mass Effect franchise is the character interaction, and this was easily strongest in Mass Effect 2, so it's my favourite. Mass Effect 3 was also good in this regard, but the ending, limited squad, and removal of all the most interesting characters from ME2 make it slightly inferior in my book.

Regarding the lack of "exploration" in ME2 and ME3, I'd rather stab my eyes with a rusty fork than have to drive that Mako to the mining facility or big room again (of course followed by terrible, repetitive combat within said room). I don't care if they changed the hue on some of the skyboxes, you were essentially doing the same thing over, and over, and over again, and that thing wasn't even fun (especially on the planets where they turned up the verticality slider, rendering the mako basically inoperable).

Would be pretty insane if fan backlash gets Bioware back to the drawing board over the ending. I dunno if it would be a good thing or bad thing for the industry and developers as a whole however.

Listening to fan feedback and realizing that they could do better by a large group of fans is not a bad thing in a situation that involves a game like this and a series like this.

I don't know how it could be considered bad.
It was nice to hear the folks on G4tv hit on the endings for a second. One slipped up and sort of spilled out their hate for the ending, and the others sort of coughed under their breath and said, "We will discuss later." Its nice to have another group not hammer us.

The future of the franchise is too radically different depending on whether all life sudden has electronics in it, or if all geth + all other synthetics are destroyed. Bioware's reasoning for this series of endings looks to make it impossible to have a direct sequel - except with that Destroy + Breathe ending.

Or, of course, indoctrination theory.

Just beat it, didn't think it was completely terrible, although I didn't get the true ending, maybe that one's worse.

I destroyed the reapers and im pretty sure earth along with it lol

I'm sorry...I never watched Leone's non western movies, and I don't know how I mixed that up :(

Sorry if I came across hostile. Anyway, you should check it out. The Director's Cut, obviously. It's a world of difference between it and the US release, and serves as a perfect example of why narrative structure matters.

The female doctor was originally going to die while LL Cool J died, but during the focus testing, people kept on shouting "Die, bitch" at the female doctor so they changed it.

Holy shit :lol

It's the only one that makes sense and you know it! Welcome to the good side.

I doubt we'll ever see a Mass Effect game without humans in it - not enough dudebros to pick up the title.

So I just completed the game last night and this is my first time in this thread. Am I getting this right?

Paragon/Good ending = controlling reapers

Renegade/Bad ending = wiping out all synthetics

??? ending = Robo-Joker and Flesh-EDI settling on the jungle planet

I got the 3rd ending. No idea if thats considered the "best" one or whatever, but I sure felt like all my options were shitty. None were what I wanted. The whole "Hero sacrifices himself" thing is so fucking played out. Is it too much to ask for Shepard and Liara to have those little blue children and live happily ever after in the new age of galactic peace?

Man I hope not. Movies and games are boring when they take place during a past event where you know what happened in all of the main events.

Interestingly, Padok Wiks does seem to have his own personality. Funny stuff when you talk to him about the deceased Mordin..."I punched him.." lol

And James continues to hold his own in combat, even if Garrus weren't dead--having bought the (chicken) farm in ME2--I'd still choose Vega in combat for this Insanity run, at least until I get Ashley. Even then, still might stick with him in combat, leave Ashley (LI) for out-of-battle activities...

Anyway, Vega combined with Javik and my Engineer Shep, there are so many gibs going around. Not sure what combo is doing it, I'm Overloading often, James Carnage, forget what I set as my on-demand Javik power, but whatever it is it seems half the Cerberus guys end up exploding in bloody gibs. Hah.

Not really since both of those scenarios are better served by a COD style FPS not a RPG. So, considering direction Bioware is heading. I can see it.

Is there a summation of this?

I don't want to fish for this in such a big thread.

wtf?

EDIT: Something else I didnt like is, why did I have to rebuy all the armor I bought in ME2? :/

You were de-commissioned between ME2 and ME3.

I presume they took your armor. When you got back to combat in ME3 is not like you had time to request for that.

Yeah, i suppose. Especially for a franchise like Mass Effect. In a Mass Effect : Krogan Rebellion game, we all know that Krogans will get the genophage anyway, so there would be no surprise, the game would always end the same way no matter what you do.

Kinda like ME3 lol

I'm honestly just interested in another game about the Normandy on that planet. Who says Mass Effect has to be large scale? The being lost on an unknown planet theme could make way for the much missed exploration aspect. Also I couldnt give two shits about Earth and all that, all I care about is the Normandy crew. (EVEN THOUGH LIARA AND GARRUS ARE DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAADDD :( )

They're alive for me

See this and that.

Doesn't matter whether or not the final product was intentional or non-intentional. The point is that it is entirely fine to revisit and alter one's earlier product/artifact.
Its important to note that all those examples are from finished films. They didn't go back post theatrical release and film a new ending.

I watched the interview with the dude Casey on IGN, and he basically said the ending is the ending. He was like we are definitely getting sp dlc, but it is just "icing on the cake". For all intents and purposes, we are stuck with this putrid ending no matter how much we complain. Such a tragedy. I don't know if I can forgive Bioware for this one. At least they should give us some type of epilogue(?) where we can have some loose ends tied up. As it stands I feel like I have really accomplished nothing since embarking on this journey in 2008 up till now. I have absolutely no closure at this point.
