I just realized that Bioware doesn't exactly have much in the way of goodwill left with its fans.
Dragon Age 2, while by no means terrible, was largely considered a cash-grab in order to put money into the company. It was built very quickly, based largely on old assets. People assumed they were loading up their budget for Star Wars: The Old Republic or Mass Effect 3, but it kind of soured the franchise for a lot of people.
Star Wars: The Old Republic, did not come out as big as anyone had hoped, I'd imagine it'll fall into the same pit that any other MMORPG not named World of Warcraft eventually falls into.
And now with this whole Mass Effect 3 debacle, I think most of its core fanbase aren't thinking highly of them at all. The EA profit-first policy seems to be deeply ingrained into that developer's core now, I honestly don't expect them to really deliver a quality product that measures up to the same level as Mass Effect 1 or Dragon Age 1 did.
