Mass Effect 3 Spoiler Thread |OT2| Taste the Rainbow

There aren't generic Krogan, Asari, Salarian and a number of other species husks I would assume because Bioware just didn't want to have so many enemies that fill similar jobs as each other.

They had to take out holstering your weapon so they could get more memory for other things, and seemingly filled two DVDs to the brim for the 360 version, they probably just didn't have the room either way for a ton more enemies of different types and races.

Then there's the fact that they cut a bunch of things, took out a squad mate and only finalised an ending by Novemeber, so they probably didn't have the time and man power to get any more done.

She does. I had her in my game. It was pretty lame. Nothing different at all about her except it just says "Morinth" above her health bar. She wasn't even any more difficult than the others.

The only other contact you have with her is she sends you an e-mail.

I absolutely hated that. All the other characters got at least something.Morinth got a name tag.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
I dont think they had this trilogy planned out from a story or design point of view, its pretty common knowledge that the Protheans drastically changed in appearance between ME1-ME2 and their is so many plot holes building to this endings it like ME1-ME2 they just made the reapers sound cool and mysterious but they got to ME3 and had NO FUCKING CLUE how to give them a conclusion and thus invented a space ghost child AI to solve everything.

I cant help but see plot holes or things that dont make sense everywhere i look in the lore of the universe.

They obviously didnt have a conclusion to the reaper threat conceived and thus made something terrible up at the end.

And what the hell is the child thing about, Shepard lost squadmates and stuff and yet he cares about one single child he met for 5 seconds and that child id somehow exactly the same as the starchild...

Its not that the AI is a child but more a bad use of the a form you are comfortable with trope. So it chooses that dead kid that haunts shepards dream and yet only knew for .5 seconds.

No, they just didn't write any lines for him. He voiced additional characters in ME3.

Maybe the Joker beat him up again

Pictured: Harbinger

imdb:

Mass Effect 3 : various voices
the old republic : various voices
Skyrim, and so on.

So I'm guessing he was actually available and all. And Harbinger is just a heavely distorted version of his voice, so what could possibly be the reason for not including him?

Normally I would've jumped straight into NG+ or a different file but I had to wait a few days to go through the 5 stages of grief before starting it, and I still haven't found the spirit to complete it.
Yeah I still haven't touched any Mass Effect games since the ending, I was supposed to be playing through the rest of ME1 with my renegade femshep to import to the rest of the games, but the desire is gone.

They didn't even have to. There was no reason to give the Reapers a higher purpose. (Even if, I'd have preferred one that wasn't stupid, or grand enough to 'match' their approach.) Instead, we get some nonsense that contradicts itself from one sentence to the next, with no proper build up.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
It's just lazy when it comes down to it. I doubt Bungie had so many Halo games in mind going into the first one but at least they had the foresight to sit down, and try to actually hammer out a "bible" and the nitty gritty of the universe. You'd think a company that's known for story driven role-playing games would have put in at least half as much effort but I guess not.

Switching main writers probably didnt help.

They don't even have the courtesy of having him tell you that he chose that form specifically for you.

Or he just pass out and dream it up? We dream fuck up things when we're tired. No need for indoctrination to dream weird things.

Somehow I think the ending just being an ordinary dream is the least likely possibility.

Besides, there's other hints leading towards it being indoctrination.

So, I've been on a ME3 blackout since the game was announced. I was low on funds and short on time until this past weekend (three day weekend + being sick) and I finished the game. I noticed how huge the spoiler thread had gotten and was curious as to why. I kept hearing people say "the ending" as if it were singular and made nothing of it. Yet, there I was with three options to choose from. I went with the middle one, completely intending to play the game again -- until literally 10 minutes ago. Until a friend and fellow GAFfer told me that he had looked up the other two endings. I literally have my second playthrough paused in disgust as I type this. I CANNOT EVEN FATHOM HOW THIS WAS ACCEPTABLE. I'm going to have a fucking aneurysm.

Did you feel good about curing the genophage? All the able-bodied Krogan are stranded on Earth! I sure hope Eve has her shit in order without Wrex!

Did you feel good about reuniting the Quarians and Geth or getting Rannoch back for the Quarians? A shitload of them are never seeing their home again that's at the ass end of the galaxy! Also they'll starve to death

Have a tear in your eye listening to all the sob stories on the Citadel, like the refugee trying to gain entry into the Wards? Don't worry, people like him are slushies now!

Also, the PTSD Asari at the hospital murdered Joker's sister on Tiptree to keep her quiet. Am I dark and edgy enough yet ~ Mass Effect 3

Man, what a small galaxy, huh?

They didn't know what to do with him. Flat out, that's the most likely reason I can come up with. That or they a) couldn't think of a way to have a boss battle with him or b) did think of one, but threw it out, because they didn't want a boss at the end.

From what the original head writer has said, as little as it has been, the ending he had in mind and the reason behind the reapers changed from what we would have gotten if Bioware didn't move him over to TOR.

The ending we got I can at this point only blame on Walters for throwing out a lot of the things that were started in ME2 and then just doing what he thought was best, which turned out pretty shit.

Renegade shep is also a space racist you should of got the option to kill both

Renegade Shep went to levels in this game I wouldn't even dream of. Shooting Mordin in the back, killing Wrex personally after betraying him, etc. It's like, damn, dude. Even watching the youtube videos, that stuff was harsh.

There was one neat touch when you kill Mordin, where Shep just tosses his gun away in disgust after doing it.

My desire to play ME1 was gone the day ME2 came out. Then again, I said that about ME1 after the fourth time I played it to completion, then went on to play it two or three more times before ME2 came out.

He's not a racist. He'll kill anything and everyone. Equal opportunity.

He (she in my case) definitely has a distinct "Earth/Humanity first" attitude that I could have done without.

Just finished the game, and it was a hugely enjoyable experience that took me +55 hours, but the ending was perhaps even more unsatisfying than the end of Babylon 5's Shadow war. B5 at least gave you a far better farewell with the characters you had grown attached to, whereas ME3 gave you next to nothing in that regard. How ever flawed the ending was, it still was an emotional experience for me after the long journey that lead up to it.

I just knew it, that there would be a
sacrifice involving Shepard
, and that they'd show a glimpse of the
future
in the end. Very B5-ish.

All the three end choices felt lacking. The only one, that didn't just result with the
Reapers leaving
, and that left
Shepard alive
, was the one where you had to
erase the Geth and EDI
as well, which would have been a questionable choice based on what you've done along the Paragon path. So, as the ultimate joke they gave the Renegade the best bad ending.

P.S. Why the hell does the Prothean speak with a Jamaican accent?

They should've had him take over the bodies of huskified soldiers. Imagine a banshee with those glowing golden eyes coming at you while saying "This hurts you"

Yup me too, was playing some multiplayer to kill some time, wasn't too bad, quite fun if you have a decent team. Then i completed it, put the game back in the case then shelved it.

Wait, if the Collectors are all repurposed Protheans, why does the Collector General look so different?

Javik mentioned that other races were made into Protheans and Prothean vessels. They could always say that the Collector General was from one of these other races.

Renegade shepard should just fail halfway through the game when nobody wants to follow the racist, backstabbing asshole.

The thing is, they didn't even need to add in a reason for the Reapers doing what they did. We were already told their existence was basically beyond our comprehension, they do what they do because they have their reasons and really who cares.

Shepard's job was to stop them, not to try to find out some deep rooted cause for them exterminating all organic life. It's them or us, that's it. But nooooooooOOOoooo, we had to go all deep and meaningful and create a completely retarded reason.

I think I'm still stuck in the anger phase.

Funny thought. This ending as less resolution than the butchered, rushed ending KotOR II had.
You know, it's good you bring that up, because that's a game I'd feel like replaying right now. Never tried out the latest fan patches, either... Hmmm.

Well, Bungie managed to screw that up, too, Halo Bible or no.

And Hudson, for wanting to keep it more 'high level'.

Some small questions:

What's the deal with Aria being allowed on the citadel?
Wrex managed to get on the citadel, very angry and with a big gun, ready to kill renegade Femshepard, somehow he's allowed that far past the citadel's security?
Does the citadel even have security?

Gestahl

Like, if after Shepard and Liara had recorded their time capsule boxes for future races, Shepard had reached into a drawer, pulled out a gun, and shot himself in the head, it's arguable if the outcome of that would actually be better for the galaxy in the long-run, that's how bad the ending is.

I could never take the Renegade/Paragon extremes in Mass Effect too seriously.

It's funny, I usually do side towards the Dark Side in games with those sorts of choices because I just find it more fun, though whenever I play Torment I can never do it. I always have to play good in that game, every single time. It's one of the few RPGs I've played where I actually feel bad if I do something bad in it. If only Mass Effect had that sort of morality going for it; it would've been quite something.

The Citadel needs TSA to come take care of things for them. No Cerberus invasion on their watch!

I always understood that to mean that they were made subservient/integrated into the Prothean empire. I think the collector general was just customized a lot more. Or the put his head on a Rachni body or something. They seem to mix and match were it is useful.

One of the best parts of the game is Javik revealing that the Protheans were pretty much major imperialistic assholes who stomped other races under their boots and acted as their gods, and Liara's progressively dour reaction to these revelations.

Fuck if I know. As far as we are concerned it meant we couldn't call Space Kid on his bullshit.

Yup. You and me both, buddy. You and me both. Them trying to solve some problem or impose order on the galaxy wouldn't have been so bad if they built it up more, or if the problem was so vast that you could see them needing countless cycles to solve it. The dark energy thing sounded like it could have been promising, but the heat death of the universe, entropy (something I'm enamoured with as a motive) would have been that much better than an extinction war with synthetics we're supposed to accept as the most likely outcome, regardless of solving the Geth/Quarian conflict.
Something with 'heft'. Entropy is something were you can be as vague as you like. As far as we know there's nothing short of creating a new Big Bang that can save you from it. That's a neat problem for 'machine gods' to set their eyes on as the pinnacle of evolution, no? No.

I need to stop repeating this. It's bumming me out all over again...

Aria probably used her contacts and such like to get on, she can call the Asari councillor when she wants, she probably didn't have that much trouble getting on.

As for Wrex, where does he try to attack Shepard?
The video I saw looked like the Normandy docking area, meaning he probably hadn't come across security to get his weapon taken off him yet.

You'd think they could be in high alert or something. I mean, it's not like they are taking in thousands of refugees from all over the place because there's an invasion of some kind going on, same invasion that not too long ago rendered the fucking citadel useless in pretty much the blink of an eye.

So in the Halo thread you said you enjoyed the ending. Have you changed your mind now that you've had a little while for it to sink in?

Im 50/50 on it, it annoyed me the plot holes and the fact that the universe is fucking dead in terms of possible future now but all that aside it was a pretty nice ending.

On paper everything sounds good

Hero Dies (its always been the edgy artsy way to end something)
Universe saved (everyone is happy)
Unknown being encounter (starchild, adds mystery to the ending)
Squad lives happily ever after (fans are happy)

However the way everything went down sucks and the way the wrote of the universe sucks, its a bad solution to a fantastically developed problem.

its like if you encountered a ravine with a treasure chest on the other side and you developed a huge complicated way you could cross building a bridge out of surrounding trees and using vines as rope and just as you built the bridge and are ready to deploy it on your epic journey over the ravine some idiot jumps over grabs the treasure chest reveals that it contains nothing but some paper saying "well done hero" and then takes a giant shit inside the chest before throwing it at you.

Honestly, I think they just got a bit too high on the whole "we're artists" making a "oscar worthy scory" as fueled by endless talks and keynotes on the various conferences and magazines and other platforms of interaction. Which is obviously not true, but if you hear something enough times...

And I just went to check on it and ME3 was made in less than 24 months (only 20 if we pick a more realistic schedule) with a lot of additional marketing assets, company changes and so on, so I'm guessing they are pretty much maxed out as it is anyway.

(the company pushed out one game every two years on average pre-EA. It has been on a one-per schedule since the EA purchase. Those changes are not neutral either.

Oh, and the kicker: in the marketing trailers, you see the Normandy on Earth. Apparently that little piece of required information didn't make it into the game or something.
