The texture fade-in or pop-in, whatever it's called, on character's faces and armor is just awful. Feels like every conversation needs a half second to load textures. Like I'm playing an early UE3 game. Playing on the Pro, is it like this on other platforms?

Man, it took me long enough to download this game with my data caps, and now there's going to be a patch?! I hate not being able to play un-updated games.

You...didn't think there was going to be a patch...?

Also. This patch sounds fantastic...

Looks like a Geth is sitting there. Probably was made before they realized that it wouldn't make a lot of sense having Geth

We're getting a patch on Thursday and it does include improvements to facial animations?

That's great. I never expected that so soon, if at all. Can't wait to see how the game looks after the patch. Fingers crossed.

I don't want to sound too pessimist, but don't expect these improvements to facial animations to be mind blowing.

I'm not sure what to expect myself, but I bet I won't even notice the difference.

I knew there'd be updates. Just not multiple GB updates if this is the case based on what they're trying to do.

This is the next gen era. My Halo 5 is upto over 100gb worth of data due to their patches and add ons.

I think seeing how MP was built over ME3, expect the same here. New weapons and maps, etc.

No real single player dlc look though. For a lot of people already finished the game, this doesn't really do much. Makes me wonder how much a slight delay would have improved reception for the game. That quote about a bad game being bad forever for Zelda is useful here.

Yeah I know. I'll take even a small improvement though, for now.

That cora is a lot more attractive than the cora we got.

Yep. I like her character but her design doesn't really fit,and this one looks better.

Nah, the new Cora is more unique. Ain't no one trying to clap them cheeks with a librarian bun on the hair.

Speak for yourself. Whatever Cora's hair is doing in ME:A, it's certainly not endearing to me. Of course I smashed regardless but still.

The library bun being undone, and her hair coming down before her and Ryder take off would've been a nice touch.

Are there any sites where you can check out different builds? I went with annihilation field, energy, drain, and lance, but I am not sure if that is actually the best or not.

Has anyone here tried using tactical cloak for a power damage build? AFAIK the damage bonus also applies to powers so when combined with a high damage power like lance, it could be really effective. It sucks that there's no DoT powers like dark channel or reave since those could be really devastating, but nonetheless it's really cool to see how much variety this game's combat has now that it's adopted a classless structure.

What an excellent ending, last mission was amazing. If only ME3's endgame worked like that.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the game but I do hope they tighten up some systems and get rid of the padding for any possible sequels. Also, based on how they've handled some themes and characters (
Tann coming around, Jaal's handling of the news about his people
I'd say the series is in pretty good hands.

I am not fetching
a UV lamp for those 2 stoners to grow their weed
on Kadara!

Renegade Steve Shepard would've shot both of them, just for wasting his time.

I already had the lights when I got to them so that was fortunate.

Incinerate is a DOT skill,
annihilation is a DOT skill,
singularity is a DOT skill,
pull can be morphed into a DOT skill,
energy drain can be morphed into a DOT skill
grenade and flak cannon can be morphed into DOT skills

and there's probably more as those were just ones I thought of off the head.

You just aint looking.

It makes me very happy that the ending and/or last mission seem to be garnering more and more praise as more and more people reach that point in the game. Something to look forward to, as I currently am feeling a little bogged down by the sheer amount of superfluous crap littering my journal. Trying to forge ahead on the more important stuff, but it's easy to get sidetracked (both a good and a bad thing... some of the content ends up being subpar, but I'm immersed and intrigued enough by the world building to even consider doing some of this menial crap, haha).

A NG+ run in a couple months should be great. We'll be a few patches deep, and I'll be able to bum rush all the "good" content while almost entirely ignoring the more garbage-tier stuff. I can brute force the game into something closer to the tighter 40 hour experience it should have been.

Finding the
Kett base invasion on Voeld
ridiculously frustrating.

Shut down 3 consoles which keep another console protected, then sabotage that console, then go and sabotage 3 pillars which open up another room so you can get a side quest completed, then go to the hangar where you have to shut down 3 more consoles, but wait they're each protected and you have to activate other consoles in order to shut down the main consoles

That was the low point gameplay wise for me so far. Especially since I died twice far into it and there were no checkpoints and I thus had to do all that shit again.

Thankfully I've played a ton since then and haven't came across anything nearly so tedious, nor such a terrible lack of checkpoints.

Absolute low point of the game for me.

Yeah, that bit can get really annoying, especially with all those enemies spawning and those hallways looking almost identical. Thankfully from what I remember, it's not too long.

Eh, I got through this on the first attempt with no problems (normal difficulty; could understand it being much more frustrating on Insanity). Did seem kind of contrived though as if they were artificially extending the length of the series of encounters.

Just finished the last Loyalty mission

Why are they so much better than the rest of the main game? When the game is constricted to tighter level designs the areas are so much more imaginative and had some genuinely funny moment. ;_; maybe if the game had been designed with ME2 in mind instead of ME1/Inquisition is could of be honestly good despite the jank

I still don't know what we were doing on Liam's mission.

It is honestly weak game design. This is one of the regressive aspects of ME:A. They took a lot of the worst of things in games and added them to artificially increase longevity. Plant 5 of these all over the map, wait here and defend while hacking complete. Games are going beyond this type of game design, and BioWare regressed in a lot of areas here.

Oh you have shut down 3 generator? Too bad, here are 3 platforms you need to destroy now, rinse repeat 3 times. I would expect this from weaker devs who are trying to compete but not from BioWare.

Edit: Agree on the loyalty missions. Cut out half the fluff, double or triple the loyalty missions. I thought the hold system was great. But breaking it down into 2 or 3 parts could be great if it was more than just search for the Periphona signal. Or talk to Spender first. If we got 2 or 3 missions the size of the loyalty missions as part of a giant arc. Would resonate much more because we HAVE to use the squadmates for more than one mission. By the end of the story we are connected far more.

I still don't know what we were doing on Liam's mission.

I have to say that everything related to Liam is handled soo poorly. In my opinion he is the weakest character.

I was really confused when I started his mission that I had to load the save before it just to hear everything again.

You are helping him to
rescue the Angaran contact he was exchanging information with in order to help the Initiative, he was trying to get intel from the Angarans while providing Nexus intel, the contact was kidnapped by pirates/exiles and that's the last he knows, he is concerned because the intel he provided has the Nexus location and other important information therefore it will create a LOT of problems to the Initiative if it falls in the wrong hands.

He's so poorly handled and written, I mean... he is supposed to be a crisis response specialist but everything he says to the things he does leaves you wondering why the hell is he with you lol.

Agreed. On top of all that I had two enemies stuck underneath the floor shooting at me, couldn't hit them and the game wouldn't let me get out of combat. Drove halfway across the map and it still counted me as being in combat. Had to force quit and load an old save.

Seems like the best way to enjoy the game is to do the main quest and section where companion quests go. Of course tasks are pointless, but even planet specific side missions start to feel very tedious, I just skip any once I get a planet to 100%, unless there is some reason to I'm not seeing? I already seem to level just fine.

They should have used that cockpit layout. It would have made the Tempest less tardus feeling, ie bigger on the inside. But that is a lot of nice artwork.
