In a note of positive news: the lines for blood donations are extremely long, some at a few hours just to sign up to donate. Huge amounts of love and support for the city of Orlando from people in Orlando.

We have been attacked, but we will not idly sit and do nothing to help our fellow man.

So the daesh link is almost confirmed?
Jesus Christ. Can't these fuckers just get a life instead of trying to justify their existence by robbing innocents of theirs?

No it isn't. He called the police and said something, that isn't a link.

Does the bible say to kill gays like that Quran verse or just that it's a sin? (Sorry idk)

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

I mean, obviously we ought to wait for the facts. But c'mon. Two people decide to carry out major attacks on gay events within 24 hours and it's unrelated lone gunmen?

Probably copycat crime. If it was coordinated they would have gone in at the same time on the same night for maximum impact (see the recent-ish Paris attack).

The researchers did a statistical analysis of 176 mass shooting events in the U.S. from 2006 to 2011 and 220 school shootings between 1997 and 2013. They discovered that mass shootings were significantly more likely to occur if another shooting that received national media coverage took place in the previous 13 days

He pledged allegiance to them, that doesn't mean he was sent by them. He's someone who was radicalized by their propaganda without being an actual agent.

Obama put-up his fight after Sandy Hook, and it went nowhere. He looks tired and disappointed at this point

Yep. If the country refused to do anything after 27 elementary school children were gunned down in their classrooms, nobody will give a shit about a club full of gays. Why even get worked up anymore.

Feels really bad.

They've beaten all of the anger out of Obama.

Sigh.

It's because he knows the answers to the series of questions that he asked during the presser because he's had to do this talk way too many damn times

"This massacre is therefor a further reminder of how easy it is for someone to get their hands on a weapon that lets them shoot people in a school, or in a house of worship, or a movie theater, or in a nightclub. And we have to decide if that's the kind of country we want to be. To actively do nothing is a decision as well."

Chapters 18 and 20 of Leviticus, which form part of the Holiness code and list prohibited forms of intercourse, contain the following verses:

"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination." Chapter 18 verse 22

"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them." Chapter 20 verse 13

Before we blame religion, said by ex-wife:

“He was not a stable person,” said the ex-wife, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because she feared for her safety in the wake of the mass shooting.
“He beat me. He would just come home and start beating me up because the laundry wasn’t finished or something like that.”

...[She added] that he wasn’t very religious and worked out at the gym often. She said in the few months they were married he gave no signs of having fallen under the sway of radical Islam.

I'm pretty sure every mass murder is considered a terrorist incident.

"Terrorist" has a no real definition and tend to be used politically by States to demonize an (ideological) opponent who may or may not be violent. It's so vague that specialists refuse to use it. Always be careful when using that word or when reading it, it doesn't explain everything but it is very useful to simplify things and prevent analysis.

If we use the common definition though, yes, it could be considered as a terrorist act because so far he seemed to have political reasons (hatred of homosexuals having their place in society) that he wanted to "share" by killing more than 50 people, and knowing that it will strike the news. I believe that saying he was with ISIS could be a strategy to get an even broader audience, taking example of what happened in France, Belgium, Netherlands or the US last year. He certainly knew what he was doing.

i see. ty for the insight. but yea, I personally consider every such event a terrorist event.

No. I think he trod very carefully to avoid a shitstorm from NRA/Republicans over "politicising the issue".

he's in the final year of his final term. I don't think he needs to give a fuck about NRA/Repubs being asshurt.

Gun control is debated fiercely openly and can be (and should be IMO) implemented. But what about the extremist Islamic ideology which is driving millions around the world, unless it is openly criticised and debated I am afraid things are going to get worse.

Good for all of you who apparently never had a bad experience with conservative religious people who read their holy texts rigorously and seriously. You probably never had violent arguments or family breakups just for being the way you are and could live peacefully instead.

Please don't assume that this is true for everyone else just because you have a positive anecdote to share.
