Max Payne 3 |OT| Funny as hell, we couldn't decide on a sub-title

That method works on Hard too? I've only done a medium run thus far.

Medium -> 2 deaths grants a PK. Works for < 9 PKs
Hard -> 5 deaths grants a PK. Works for < 2 PKs

This also takes your existing PKs into consideration on both settings. So, for example, if you die twice on Hard and have 2 or more PKs, you won't get one.

It's on the Rockstar Newswire somewhere if you're looking for a source. They mention the difficulty levels and the above bit as their way of dynamically adjusting the difficulty.

Also keep in mind that PKs when used manually restore more health than when used automatically in Last Stand.

I just had the best bug ever. At Chapter IX during the office part I went shootdodge and suddenly in mid air I was outside the map flying over the textures of the city until I hit the invisible ground and died.

Yeah I've had that twice in multiplayer after jumping off a building. Not cool yo.

So what are people's favourite chapter out of the game? For me it's got to be
the graveyard. The whole atmosphere was fantastic and the music really layered the emotional state Max was in, even his guilt with Mona when at his wife's tomb. It was a blast just going dive and dodge crazy with the jersey Mafia in the open playground.
I did like the games pacing and how the story was executed over time.

I just want to say that this game has exceeded all of my expectations in spec-TACULAR fashion. Right from the first level, it's been SO much better than I imagined it would be!

Nearly everything about the game is stellar. The writing, the gunplay, the visuals, the audio, the music. It's actually the perfect game for me to play with my girlfriend, because the frequent (and excellent) cutscenes make this an exciting game for others to watch--finally, an electronic interactive movie done right.

I'm also mightily impressed by the visuals on display here. For my money, Max Payne 3 is easily one of the best-looking games on consoles.

The multiplayer is a nice surprise. I played well into the night last night, and heard several guys make comments like, "This is better than Call of Duty!"

My biggest gripe is a small one. The appearance of random words on screen during cutscenes is distracting and amateurish. It's an unfortunate blemish on an otherwise amazing presentation.

All in all, I haven't been this gripped by a game in a good, long time. What an exceptional ride this is turning out to be. I'm on chapter 5 and there's still so much to go!

I had a problem with the bullshit sniper section. I did like the chapter as a whole though. My favorite ones though were

13>2>4>14>5>8>6>rest aren't worthy of being ranked

The top 4 really made the game for me. I do think as a whole that the New York segments were fantastic and I wish they were more integral to the storyline.

Chapter 4 is my favorite.

When you shoot the kid and it just erupts into an all out war in the bar I lost my shit. I literally yelled out loud, YESSSSS. Also found the writing in that chapter to be really good.

Definitely one of my favourites too. That chapter was just classic.

It's not even necessarily the time period or the location, I just thought the scenario design in that chapter was exceptional.

Holy shit, this game has some insanely bad-ass moments.

Chapter 6:
Loved the scene at the front desk where max jumps over the jeep with the paramilitary guys that you fuck up.

And the scene discussed above made me giddy. "SCREW YOU, JERSEY SHORE DOUCHEBAGS!" was the thought I had in my head there.

Seriously awesome stuff. What stands out in my head is the
office shoot out when youre escorting the IT kid. The clean, bright environment being destroyed to pieces was just beyond words.

All the New York levels had great level design and atmosphere. It really makes me wish that they had indeed just stayed in New York. There's something very Max Payne-ish running across rooftops, shoot dodging into mobs and watching the snow fall in the background.

End of Chapter 5 is probably my favorite part. Chapter 4 is also amazing.

I really liked:
-the start of the hotel level, with the soda bottle suppressor lol.
-That and the start of the yacht level, when Max wakes up to the alarm clock/shooting. I was playing that tired and sympathized with Max's "what's the problem now" attitude. Felt badass to just waltz out with the auto-Glock and blast people.
-Lastly, the section in Max's apartment building, when the shut-in neighbor blows himself up. Walking down the hall shotgunning people was grand.

I want my fucking pc version already.

Why does it have to be out 2 weeks after the consoles? What amazing shit are you adding in those 2 week?

Just completed NYM hardcore. My heart was pounding like never before during the last fight(got killed by a grenade first time).

Shit was fucking intense man. Even though I was under this pressure, the airport and tears gave me the chills. That is probably my favorite part of the game.

So for anyone trying NYMHC here is my advice on it:

- Obviously you want to know what awaits you. Play through chapters over and over again to know where the enemies come from and until you are comfortable to beat them without dying

- Know where painkillers are. Time is not an issue, I had like 9 minutes on the clock a couple chapters in. So know where those painkillers are and get them

- Use the painkillers manually. The last thing you want is that you are going into last stand and you either can't hit the enemy or you are out of ammo which means game over

- Keep pushing, it is the same difficulty as the normal NYM, which would be normal in the story mode. It is only "hardcore" because you have to do it in one sitting without dying

- And good luck that you don't get any glitches or your console freezes

Completed. Current ranking goes Max Payne 2 > MP3 > MP. Brilliant game all in all, and R* did a admirable job picking up where Remedy left off, but the game doesn't ever reach the same standard of writing prowess, while also lacking the noirish flavour that made The Fall of Max Payne unforgettable and pitch-perfect in tone. It's nowhere near as funny either.

Favourite moment was
entering the airport lounge in the last chapter where HEALTH's 'Tears' kicks off proper, and you know at that precise moment that Max means business more than ever. ADRENALINE!

Chapter 13 was easily my favorite. Things were wrapping up and it felt incredible to
be stuck in a police station, yet again, after everything that's happened to Max. "Time moves forward; nothing changes."

This game is more fun with soft-lock on consoles, aiming is too sluggish with the controller. I did beat the game with free aim, but it was a frustrating experience. I'm not playing with soft-lock and it is way less annoying when battling multiple foes.

That was fantastic. I loved that, Chapter 14 (dat music), the favela, and the cemetery level.

Something about the atmosphere in the cemetery level was really cool. Lots of memorable moments in the second half of the game.

Just beat it for the first time. Some of those checkpoints were rough especially on Hard.

Fantastic game overall though.

Nope. It was a fantastic experience. Never in a console game I felt so satisfied pulling off headshots.

Man do I wish that arcade mode was just the same areas as the campaign, populated by AIs and no cut-scenes. Something more like a terrorist hunt mode from Rainbow Six games rather than strictly replaying the campaign levels.

I love the gun porn in this game to death, and even found myself fully under the spell of the story and characters the first time through, but now with the main storyline finished its hard to find a mode to play that truly satisfies.

This is an truly great shooter, but unless you're planning on playing with friends online, it doesn't have nearly the replay value I had hoped for. And I take it all of the grinds are purely for multiplayer bonuses?

Surface of Me

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.
Just got around to beating it.

Max in flip flops. lol

Man, I should stop browsing threads of games I haven't finished while tired, I highlighted that without even thinking.

Anyways, think I'll go to gamestop and trade in a few games for this in a bit, wanted to play it ever since I returned it to redbox.

Just played some multiplayer again and I have a big problem with the guns now. Mainly a reason on why I died so easily by a pistol while I was shooting fine with an AK. I didn't get it and I died so many times by the same guy who still had a pistol, it was really annoying.

So based on the complete shit that was the PC ports of GTA IV, and LA Noire is anyone here concerned that the PC port of MP3 will suck? Honestly I want to give Rockstar the benefit of the doubt, but after being burned by those 2 games and RDR not being released on PC is there really a reason not to be concerned?

Pistols are great. Use them if you want to win.

Or keep hard aiming with your AK and die. It's up to you, really.
