Those living in social housing who had more bedrooms than tenants now have to pay an additional rate, the official term being "spare room subsidy". Basically the school of thought that the poor should get by on as little as possible.
Yes, "Daddy owns half of Berkshire" type schools
David Mitchell had a good rant on the Greens on Channel 4 last night. This was their first Election with real media coverage, from what I can remember. It totally raised me awareness in their party and beliefs. Some of them are a little outlandish, but the core of what they proposed seemed promising (maybe a little too promising), but I'm one of those fools who believe in hopes and dreams!
Also, once again I'm happy I kept an eye on this thread over the last few weeks as there are a lot of good people in here who took their time to explain things and offer websites to check to make my OWN opinion. I'll probably check into UK-GAF more often now.

Seems more like your views not aligning with a large amount of the public's
Did Farage win South Thanet?
There we go.
The disability cuts are the worst, how can they justify this?
Has there ever been a PM that hasn't gone to Oxbridge? Serious question.
Justify them? They're about to double them. But it's ok because multi-millionaire Dave Cameron had a disabled son who died.
Sure.
But the polls?
How did they all get it so wrong?
THE BIRDS ARE SINGING, ED BALLS HAS LOST!!!! YES!
God, Caroline Lucas is so much better than Bennett. They would have won so much more votes.

I agree with a lot of their ideologies, but they really could do with a bit more focus to help them become a real player. I hope that this election and the extra attention the lack of seats the Greens and UKIP get for the number of votes they've received will keep them in national consciousness and encourage them to become a stronger and better party for 2020.
Looks like someone deflated Balls
Well for my area, turnout was up almost exactly 10% and Labour actually managed to increase their majority, but UKIP managed to get 15% of the vote, which is a touch depressing.
You're spot on Hix. I didn't know how left wing UKGAF was until yesterday/last night. Definitely out of touch with the wants and needs of the UK.Mass meltdowns coupled with fear mongering and hysteria on GAF, as predicted. Just shows how out of touch many can be with the tide of public opinion.
My in-laws all voted Tory, so great result so far. Now to hope they get that majority to keep them away from the DUP.
Balls told to bounce
Sigh, so a Tory majority is looking all but assured?
People really don't understand just how badly their about to be bent over and fucked over the next five years, it's going to take a decade just to recover again when they inevitably vote Labour back in 2020.
Idiots.
Yeah, while Oxbridge do have some upper class slant (like all elite schools) it should not be seen as a blemish on a would be politician record. To be fair, being from Oxbridge is not the problem. My wife is an Oxbridge graduate who got to where she is with intelligence and scholarships.
Milibands went to my local high school (haverstock school) and got to Oxford on some access scheme.
Over 50% of people at Oxford are not from private schools. However private schools make up 7% of the UK schooling system, so are vastly over represented at Oxbridge.
Oxford/Cambridge provide one of the best educations in the world. That is a good thing. Don't tar everyone with the same brush (not that you are specifically! It's just a common thing I see)
