Floyd is not going to win a unanimous decision, so you're going to lose money. Manny winning by decision makes perfect sense if you've been following both of these guys' fights. If you really see Floyd winning, KO/TKO would've been the best bet. I see this fight going the way Judah-Mayweather went for the first half of the fight, but Manny doesn't slow down or get mentally tired the way Judah did, so it'll be for the whole fight.

I even see Mayweather getting frustrated late, knowing he needs a KO because he coasted the first 3/4 of the fight hoping to eventually time Pacquiao, and he may just end up taking cheap shots, or crying after every bodyshot trying to get Manny DQ'ed.
If you don't count Ortiz*, PBF hadn't knocked out a guy since '07.
I really don't see him knocking out Manny.
But we'll see, if it ends up like Judah Mayweather it will be way more exciting than I think it will be.
I think Mayweather will play it very defensively and win it in a rather uneventful 117-111 type of fight.
But I can't lie, even though I got money riding on that and I generally rooting for Mayweather, I would love to be wrong at least on that point, the sport could use an exciting fight.
Fuck, I can use an exciting fight.

* I don't have a problem with that KO, hands down man down, but it's unlikely something like this will happen.

This is how I expect it to play out, which makes the $90 PPV a gamble too steep for me. Mayweather wouldn't have agreed to this after so long if he wasn't sure he could win now. It's made the hype hollow IMO. :/

The more I think about the fight, the more I see Floyd stopping Pac late.

Floyd said something about Pac not ever going in survival mode that would benefit him getting the KO, and I actually think he has a solid point. Whenever Pac gets rocked by a good punch, he never clinches or holds his opponent to survive the round. Pac would just continue his in and out game and just keep going. He might slow down the pace of his attack to get his legs back, but he literally stays the same.

The reason this benefits Floyd is because Floyd always breaks down his opponents to the point they're ready to get KO'd, e.g. Cotto, Maidana, Guerrero. Of course he didn't get the KO against them because they were the bigger man and held on to survive the fight. Manny however is smaller and won't try to go into survival mode.

For Manny's sake, the fight better be competitive because if it's a regular Mayweather fight where he completely dominates his opponent, Manny's gonna get knocked out. I still have Floyd winning by SD, but if there's gonna be a KO, it'll be Floyd Knocking Manny out.

How is someone going to be sure they will win? If Manny catches him a certain way he can get ko'ed.

Clearly the odds of that happening aren't high enough for that to be a concern to him anymore.

I'm really hoping for a competetive give-and-take, but I don't have much hope for that now. :/

I think you'll get your money's worth, Pacquiao is never really in a boring fight. Closest recent one was against Clottey, but he tried his hardest. Clottey just went into a shell and let Pacquiao unload on him.

Mayweather usually is mostly defensive, but I think he knows with Pacquiao's work rate, that isn't going to win him this fight, so I feel like he has to know he's going to need to be more aggressive, and that's why I think if he wins at all, it'll have to be by stoppage.

If Bayless lets him get away with it, he'll have to do a lot of his clinching and moving away bullshit that let him win the 2nd Maidana fight easily. He'll have to use his dirty tactics that referees never seem to catch.

I think Floyd wins by UD easily. Manny's work rate will be an advantage for Floyd since he will be counter punching all day.

He will try to counter-punch all day, and that's why he'll lose the fight. He isn't some magic wizard that is going to just dodge every punch, if he tries to counter-punch all day, he will get hit, a lot. Maidana was able to hit him, Mosley, Judah, Castillo, etc. He's not impenetrable, he just eventually times and wears down his opponents until they end up slowing down. Pacquiao doesn't slow down.

He also has crazy trouble with fighters who use a lot of feints, it makes it harder to time them, and he almost got knocked out by Mosley because of it. Mosley was jerking around almost the whole time, but eventually Mayweather adjusted.

It'll be a damn good fight. Each fighter's weakness is the other one's strength. It's almost the perfect fight.

Now I do hope the fight plays out like this!

Pac will have some success early on in the fight. It'll take Floyd some time to measure Pac up since Pac is fast and likes to come in at weird angles, but by the 5th or the 6th, Floyd will start timing him right and hit him with some clean counters. Once Pac starts thinking, the pace of the fight will slow down and Floyd will start to break him down. The reason it could be a close fight though is because Pac will probably get desperate and steal a round late into the fight because of his work rate.

How is someone going to be sure they will win? If Manny catches him a certain way he can get ko'ed.

People have been saying this for years and Mayweather has proven them wrong at every turn. It'll take more than a heavy punch to beat Mayweather, who is pretty much as sharp as he's ever been, albeit not as fast.

This is on point.

I can't claim to be a Pacquiao fan, but I want to see Money lose more than anything.

That said, I can't see Pac winning the fight. That's not based on any analysis; I've seen both fight but couldn't tell you anything about boxing style.

So many fighters have know how Maywether fights and none of them have been able to do it. I don't think Pac is the best boxer he's ever faced, but maybe he's the right fighter to do it. I just see Money being Money getting his W

I don't know, I just see Pac losing and I don't think it goes the distance. I'll be pulling for him though

I agree with most of your post (although I do know a little bit about boxing style), but I can't see this fight ending before 12 rounds. I know Marquez rocked Pacquiao with a shot that would've downed a camel, but Mayweather doesn't have anywhere near that KO power nowadays.

Marquez is also quite aggressive for a counter puncher, which gave him many opportunities (the most famous being the K.O) that the more overtly defensive Floyd wont have.

I really wanted to watch the fight and I still may be Keith Olberman's talk about why he is boycotting the fight hit me hard. Everyone can do what they wish but I think Keith is absolutely right.

I often feel like I'm not an adult even at my age so I feel like I should be making tougher decisions.

Who knows, we'll see.

I don't know, If you start boycotting sports because of the participation of domestic abusers you'd probably never watch sports again.

Don't overthink it, there are way too many companies and people doing things worth boycotting them over. Sometimes people just want to buy entertainment, diamonds, Nike products, Apple products, Chik-Fil-A, etc. without necessarily supporting everything that goes on behind the scenes.

Probably but doesn't mean it's the wrong answer. I kind of knew about Money's issues but when he just listed them off one by one it really sounds horrible. Made me feel bad for wanting to support the fight.

We all probably support something awful with our everyday money even if we don't realize it. I thought about it and the riots and I feel like I'm part of the problem because I sit at home and I don't really do anything to make it better. I don't even know what I can do.

Mayweather is a piece of crap he being allowed to fight because the people who decide get to make a bunch of money off the fight too.

Edit: You are right ^, I shouldn't over think it but this is more of a direct decision about whether this ass gets part of my money. Pac seems like a great guy. As someone said earlier in the thread, I wish I could just give HIM my money and that's it.

Maybe a dumb question but is there any way to watch the fight legally outside of PPV or going to a bar? Like pay to stream it on a tablet or something? With some app? I have comcast internet (USA) but no cable TV service (cordcutter, basically).

I like how the HBO one has a slight bias/ focus on Pacquiao and Showtime focuses on Mayweather. This is going to be a night to remember on saturday

No. I asked the cable companies pretty thoroughly because I was in the same situation and you have to have a set top box to order it. I wound up getting the cheapest cable plan for $18/mo. added to my existing internet service and I made sure I can return the box right after. I'm gonna split the PPV price with two other guys.

I'm getting it for free down here in Tijuana, Mexico. Don't know if it's gonna be running live or a little bit behind, if so i'll just stay off the net until the fight is over.

So my alma mater Southern University out of Baton Rouge, LA had the band play in Vegas for Money's entrance to the MGM tonight. Pretty dope.
