Pac will have some success early on in the fight. It'll take Floyd some time to measure Pac up since Pac is fast and likes to come in at weird angles, but by the 5th or the 6th, Floyd will start timing him right and hit him with some clean counters. Once Pac starts thinking, the pace of the fight will slow down and Floyd will start to break him down. The reason it could be a close fight though is because Pac will probably get desperate and steal a round late into the fight because of his work rate.

Yep. That pretty much sums it up. I expect to Floyd win by at least 3 to 4 rounds, but we all know what can happen to any aging fighter. Any given fight, they can suddenly become "old" and lose what makes them special almost instantly. Just ask Roy Jones Jr.

Look what happened to Anderson twice against the Wildman.

I think this is good for Mayweather, a fighter of this calibre will push him to really, really try. I think some people forget that Mayweather can punch hard if he wants to, Manny being very fast is going to force him to fight aggressively and I think a Knock out is certainly possible.

The enviable "he's only running" will come though when Mayweather is like

I have a considerable amount of admiration both Mayweather and Pacquiao so I'm rather conflicted on who I'd like to see to win.

Mayweather doesn't have the best image, obviously. He has done things and said things that really annoy me, but I still think he is the best boxer alive. I don't think he's a boring fighter at all. If anything, his grace and speed in dodging blows is quite simply put amazing and nothing short of undeniable proof of his tremendous boxing sense.

I like Pacquiao because he's ferocious and hungry. He is explosive and goes for the knockout whenever he can, which makes him exciting to watch.

I'm probably leaning towards Mayweather to win, or at least I want him to. I'd like him to reach 50 undefeated and retire. I also think he hasn't gotten a fair shake all these years. It's like no matter what he does, he will never be acknowledged as the best because he fought "nobodies," "weakinglings" and "senior citizens." It kind of pisses me off as a fan of the sport and I think it's disrespectful to suggest that the people he fought weren't worth shit.

At the end of the day, I just want a good, clean fight. It doesn't really matter who wins.

I'm pretty sure Mayweather recently said he wasn't enjoying boxing nearly as much as he used to, so really I doubt a rematch will happen.

But he's still contracted for one more fight, no? If the decision is painfully corrupt, but the fight itself is amazing, Floyd wouldn't turn down a potentially bigger rematch.

I think there's a high chance for a rematch.
I didn't mean that this would literally be the final fight for either of them, I just meant that it feels like their careers have built up to this point, culminating in this moment.

It feels like we're heading into a season (or series) finale of a TV show. Like we're heading into episode 25 of an anime series.

He has directly mentioned retiring after his fight in September, which would be the last fight on his six fight deal with Showtime.

We'll have a better idea after the fight on Saturday night, but the bottom line is that there aren't many valid b-sides out there left for him to face. He already 'retired' for two years after the Ricky Hatton fight before coming back to face Juan Manuel Marquez. I could definitely see him stepping away from the sport after Saturday night (or after his September fight) and then coming back after a couple years if a valid challenger emerges. Someone like Keith Thurman or Errol Spence Jr. He might also take some time off to build body mass and then eventually challenge for a middleweight belt.

Jesus christ. I waited for them to sign this god damn contract so I could get some news about how I can pay to stream this through one of my various devices. I just want to fucking give $100 to someone so I can stream this shit in HD yet no one will take my money. I don't have cable, and can't get it in time for this event.

Pay your neighborhood $50 and watch it at their place. Bring snacks.

Ha. Yeah my friends were supposed to have it at a card game I play at, but the place is technically located in a "business area" so the price of the fight skyrocketed. We're trying to find a way to watch the fight, but I'm not sure we can find one for ~$100.

These HBO 24/7 and Showtime All Access like shows could get me hyped as fuck for an after school fight. The production on them is legit.

Can't wait for this fight! Holy shit, I'm so stoked. It's been my dad and I's tradition to watch boxing on Saturday nights for years now. What a way to continue the tradition!

Pacman with an underrated defence. Mayweather will look rough after this fight, whatever the result.

I think few would think Pacquiao is underrated anything as a boxer. Relatively speaking, he isn't anywhere near as impressive as Mayweather - who, admittedly, was off his game in his rematch with Maidana.

Is there any probability that this will be a Anderson vs Weidman all over again?

Anderson VS Silva was Old VS Young. This is Old VS Old. Two champions settling the score once and for all. I don't think either of them are going into this certain of victory. They've been waiting for this fight for years and I don't think they have ever wanted to win more than they do now.

I don't think either one losing would be upset considering how this could really go either way.

Look what happened to Anderson twice against the Wildman.

What? This is in no way even comparable. 1st fight Anderson got caught clowning. 2nd fight, Anderson freakishly broke his leg from a check. That's nowhere near "got old". That's more reserved for stuff like Machida vs. Couture or the last few GSP fights.

Pacquiao has to KO him to win. He can't win a decision, the judges have already been bought. Hopefully he can pull it off.

I am a huge Manny Pacquiao fan and I knew his fights since I was in 2nd year HS (1998). I also knew Floyd Mayweather when I was in 3rd year HS.

To see these fighters going at in on May 2 makes me very excited. I am praying for Pacman to win. I know Floyd Money has the tools and the advantages but I want Pacman to break those tools and win the fight. What makes me smile is Pacman is extremely serious on his training unlike his previous training. He knows the magnitude on this fight. I pray he gets the victory.

Either way, I may not be able to post on Gaf while watching the fight. Good luck on both sides of the camp.

First, Pacquiao as an overall fighter is much more impressive than Mayweather is, and Mayweather wasn't off his game, people don't understand he has problems with certain styles, as does every boxer, hence the term styles make fights. So many dynamics in a fight, it's why Marquez could go blood and guts with Pacquiao for 4 fights before finally landing a Hail Mary, Pacquiao could dominate Bradley twice, and Bradley could dominate Marquez.

I can't wait until the casual boxing fan sees what happens Saturday night and wonders "How the fuck does Mayweather lose, it doesn't make sense!?" because he beat Marquez so handily and was supposed to do the same to Pacquiao. It's like his Judah fight, the Mosley fight, etc. never happened.

It's also a bit funny how the people rooting for Mayweather think the excuses are gonna come from the Pacquiao side. Everyone is gonna attend Boxing 101 on Saturday night, undefeated records mean shit when you fight someone whose style is tailor made to exploit your weaknesses. Ask George Foreman.

Where will you watch the fight, brother?

It'll have to be on local TV here in Panama, but even though I'm fluent in Spanish I want to hear it in English, Lampley/Bernstein/Jones sounds like it should be interesting. I'll try to find a stream somewhere.

lol you at it again like in the nba section. Wouldnt a casual be more of a manny fan actually? I got floyd but i know it is possible for manny to win. What will be interesting is how manny will approach this fight. He cannot stay on him all the time, i think he will approach it like the bradley 2 fight. Floyd wins by UD. He can use his reach advantage with jabs and counter punch when manny tries to throw hooks.

Lets friendly bet.
