Media Create Sales 11/12 - 11/18 2007

Webshark, your images look nice, but I might suggest making the file sizes a bit smaller to be a bit more loading-friendly, especially if they come in a group. It seems like you're saving them as full-color PNGs, but with relatively few colors necessary (background, text, colors of each line), fewer colors wouldn't hurt it much, and it could still retain most of its smooth appearance.

Full-color original, 165K
256 colors, 45K
64 colors, 32K
16 colors, 23K

wow.. the wii is really having a hard time after the 40 G came out...

WE 2008 didnt sell nearly as great as its predecessors and did not give any boost to the PS3 hardware sales (maybe a little)

yet Wii cant outsell it..

and wow at PSP.. it has no software to carry the hardware sales at all.. the new model did help it a lot.. too bad it wasnt around when DS lite came out

wow if true. BUt last week PS3 number changed about 15K from fatmitsu to Media creates, so not sure that the PS3 is ahead. Still , great number, a lot of people were expecting a massiv drop , i hope they will have it shut up !

Nice number for PES PS3 too , even if the game is not really good

Better wait for M-Create, but is very likely.

It depends on which tracker you follow ;) Its the 3rd week according to Famitsu numbers. Some use the Famitsu tracking for their stats, other use Media Create. Hard to say which one of the trackers that are closest to the correct number.

Wow @ DQIV, it did almost as well as DQMJ! :D Much better than any other handheld game from S-E this year! :D

Yeah, what's with the huge PSP increase?
Also, great number for DQIV.
If the first day was nearly 70% of its shipment, this must be something like 90% of the week's or something.

DQ4 should pass the million easily, how much did the PS remake do?

1.1 Million I think it did. Great numbers for DQ4 I predicted 700k so yeah wasn't too shabby. Interesting numbers for PS3, let's see what MC has it at.

5. Mega Man Star Force 2 (DS) - 84,000
7. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii) - 67,000

Wow big improvement on first day numbers, not bomba for M&S after all.

10.Super Mario Galaxy - 37,000

Not a huge drop, but it doesn't look too good right now. It really needs a holiday boost.

PSP @ 89'000 ? Is there something special justifying such a flying monster score ?

It seems the Slim version of PSP has seen quite a boost to the platform in recent weeks. Apparently re-releasing your hardware in a smaller size equates directly to more sales in Japan?

Wow, though the number itself isn't all that impressive, Mario & Sonic's legs seem pretty good.

PS3 sales also probably have to do with good game releases like Pro evolution and other upcoming games. I think it has a better lineup than the Wii for some weeks, WiiFit will be the killer ap though.

70k in its first week is actually better then most of the Wii/PS3 thirdparty sales this gen

What was the initial shipment? If it wasn't much higher than what it sold, how long will it take SE to restock?

Well, I always assumed so since part of the sales are your avarage sales + "switchers" from the old model to the new one.

Didn't I say it? PS3 outsells Wii once again.

But the real WTF is for PSP. Its like Fafnir being sent to die in it's cave, instead it goes to sleep for a couple years and then wakes up, leaves the cave and causes havoc amongst the nearest town. The town being in Japan of course.

Well, I said that because M-Create is taken as the default source when talking about Japanese sales, anyway, going from 20k to 50+k is a huge jump for PS3, and the release of Pes 2008 is going to help the machine a lot in the Christmas campaign.

Every machine saw a jump this week, that's interesting, both DS and PSP increased its numbers in about 30k, Wii and Xbox 360 increased too despite not seeing great software sales.

Btw, I find annoying that Pes2008 for PS3 is destroying the Xbox 360 version in Japan and in Europe too, both versions are horrible, but I think that the Xbox 360 version is slightly better, but here everyone associates Playstation with PES and GTA, as a matter of fact, I know people that bought PS3 this week because they think that GTA IV was going on sale in December exclusively for PS3 :D

Let's not forget about the release of the new PS2 model. Didn't do jack.

Well, it's just like the old model minus the external AC. It's very different from the DS > DSL / PSP > PSP Lite situation IMO.

Can it go for 4?

It'll be bizarro-world if PS3 outsells Wii in Japan for November, given the latter's performance elsewhere in the world in the same month - a Q4 month, nonetheless. Never would have saw that coming. I don't know how much of it is PS3 strength vs Wii weakness, though, which makes it odder still.

With PSP doing numbers like this as a consistent, I think it could do some insane numbers if some killer apps came out. What's in the pipeline for PSP in Japan? I know Minna no Golf is soon (next week?) which should pull some nice numbers, and it has a new Monster Hunter in the pipeline. But what else?

I don't think anybody, even Sony expected it to start picking up so much. I bet there's a bit of movement to get some big stuff out

I would have thought Dissidia: Final Fantasy would generate some interest. Musuo Orochi PSP was just announced too.

DS software sales are still 5 to 10 times higher, nearly every week.
