Very nice Wii sales. Also it's great to see PS3 sales are going up.
Cngrat. to DS for surpassing 18m mark. Go DS go.

I'm starting the 75% market share watch party as of this moment. I'm calling it by November.
I think you're a bit too soon on this one. That gives 21 more weeks. If this week's numbers repeat 21 times (which, admittedly, is a weaker than average week for Wii by percentage), Wii will be at only 73.1%. Even if we assume something stronger (say Wii 80K, PS3 9K, X360 2K), Wii will still miss it slightly, and be at 74.6%. January maybe?

supply constraints?
For PS2? I don't think that was an issue in Mays of 2002-2006. 2000 and 2001 maybe. There was a definite dip in supply from about August 2000 - February 2001, but without having followed things so closely at the time it's hard to say whether steady numbers before and after that period mean steady demand or steady constrained supply.

Ahh, I hadn't considered the truthiness factor of Wii Fit being the end of real Nintendo games, but that does make a lot of sense.

These threads have become a hall of records now. They used to be fun, and entertaining. Now that Japan has just been crushed under the wieght of the DS, and Wii, there are no more arguments, as not even the most hardcore Sony/Microsoft fan can spin these numbers. I miss Tabris, and others who made these threads fun.

I miss the "stupid argument poster", who each and every week would come in and say something so outlandish it was awesome.

Moral has been destroyed, words are lost, and those who would keep up the good fight, are burdened under the wieght of Iwata's heavy gaze.

I miss those days of lore. I miss those days of fun. Goodbye. Goodbye.

*cough* *rolls up sleeves*

Expect PS3 sales to grow off the back of E3, Nintendo users, ie soccer mums do not worry about E3, there fore are not aware of the (crap) products coming up for the Wii, the PS3 fanbase however is a dedicated fanbase who are likely to have followed Sonys success at this weeks E3 and persuade others, if not theirselves if they havent, to go out an purchase a PS3 for the upcoming wave of excellent games, MGS4, LBP + many many more.

And, I see Sony hardware on an upward swing.

Is there indeed hope?

*notices that "upward swing meant an increase of 700 units, not to mention the fact that sales of PS2 & PSP was down* :lol

Wii is hitting top cycle, so I expect it to go down a bit next we... Oh wait, DQ:S is this week, I expect it at 100k next week before going to 60k the week after, DS chugging along, and PS3 just not selling, Minno No Golf can't come fast enough for them.

I have a feeling that the PS3 will finally clear 1 million units in Japan either during the week that Minna no Golf 5 is released, or the week after.

I just realised that the Wii will be 2 million units ahead of PS3 by the time next weeks MC figures come out, 2 million!!?? I don't think anyone expected Wii to sell that many units by now, let alone be that far ahead of PS3, truly amazing stuff, and an indication on how the market has had a paradigm shift.

Extrapolating from Vinnks report (Which was great as usual), people are buying DSlite at their usual pace, but seem to be insisting on the new colours, I wonder how long that'll last for, also DQ:S has had quite an initial shipment too, crucial first couple of days ahead, will this reflect its DQ status or will people just see it as just another spin-off, time will tell.

PS3 sales are going up, but my prediction failed, damn hehe. I predicted that Sony would sell 1 million consoles within the MC 7/2 - 7/8 thread, due to the release of Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Folksoul and My Summer Vacation 3. Guess they really werent system movers after all.

Will Mario party 8 be the highest selling Wii game besides Wii Sports and Play?

Can't wait to see...

200K is a great start.

If it has enough stock it could probably sell ~400K for its appearance on the chart, but if the 350K shipment holds up, it should sell out easily.

Well, saying it'll sell out easily would be pushing it, IMHO. Normally more than 57% of the game's first week is in the opening day. Is that correct?

I'd imagine that DQS is a fairly special case and may probably act somewhat like Phantom Hourglass did, however. I can't remember what that did first day and first week though. And what its first shipment was.

I think normally ~2/3 of the sales are on the first day, but with Nintendo games and titles which have a broader appeal, not just the hardcore, 1st day sales seem to be ~50% of what appears on the chart.

Soon, PS3 will cross PS2 stream. Will it happen in the next 4 weeks ? Will PS3 ever go below PS2 again ? Stay tune, same M-create channel, same M-create time.

PS2 - 434,493

PS2 has outsold PS3 for 10 straight weeks.

However, PS2 are going to enjoy christmas sales (Dec 2000) soon, so Wii might sell worse in the next few months (compared to PS2)
Well, I believe the massive PS2 shortages at this point were quite long-lived causing it to sell ~25k / week for several months and only exceeding 50k once in a 20 week period.

Mario is about 20 weeks away from hitting five million. That's 5 months

18k is pretty much the baseline for NSMB now, every major gamer-centered DS game takes a little chunk of his sales. The longevity of this title still amazes me - might update my charts this weekend seeing as we have few weeks of concrete sales data.

Anyone notice MEdia Sales topic are basically the same people going.

"Wow [Nintendo System] did this, incredible!!"

You'd think it'd stop being incredible after the 20th week or something.

That's why these threads are so short. People have realized that there's nothing to post. In another year or two we'll be back to one page MC threads, like we had in the PS2 days.

For me, it's the opposite. DS selling over 100K a few weeks was big. That it's done so for a year and a half with barely a blip under is... something never before seen, more amazing the longer it goes.

I don't think it'll get back to consistently less than five pages anytime soon. We have too many weekly regulars for that to happen. We peeked at >2000 when the early reports came out for PS3's first sub-10k week. We've now been below 1000 for the last 4 Media-Create threads, and last weeks thread (a "paltry" 10 pages :lol ) was the shortest this year.

I haven't given up, on the contrary, I believe I have great counter arguements for a bunch of posts here, Iwata hasn't crushed me! ... but unfortunately GAF mods/admins won't let me post about media create anymore. If you would like me back, petition the GAF mods/admins to let me back into Media Create!

The PS3 is increasing numbers! Oh no! It's like the first 6 months of DS and PSP, where PSP was kicking DS ass! Oh no, worldwide takeover looming! PS3Dogs! Argh!

Hmm... If we can't manage that, would it be too much to ask if we could request tjhooker instead? We promise we'll look after him, feed him, wash him and take him for walks.

Um you're not fighting Iwata. And I'm not sure who you think you are but people in these threads tend to treat you more for your entertainment value than for whatever insightful things you may have to add, which btw, is close to zero judging from your post history. But go on. I'll give you time to take a picture of you GBA collection to prove that you're totally unbiased.

In the latest weeks DSL sales didn't increase despite new colors added, and as Vinnk said, it's easy to find in shops now, probably now demand is equal to offer and not, like Wii, offer is lesser than demand

And even during this relative slow time, DS is every week selling more than previous successful systems did during large bumps.

Around 8.8 million, but you're better off asking next thursday which is the day of the month that the data is the most accurate since we'll have up to date Japanese and US data on that day.

Are there any numbers of Hot Shots Golf Portable? Maybe those would end up being a more accurate representation of what the PS3 game would end up selling, simply because both of those systems weren't anywhere near as dominant as the first two PSs that the series was on.
