And, I see Sony hardware on an upward swing.
Is there indeed hope?

I think you're a bit too soon on this one. That gives 21 more weeks. If this week's numbers repeat 21 times (which, admittedly, is a weaker than average week for Wii by percentage), Wii will be at only 73.1%. Even if we assume something stronger (say Wii 80K, PS3 9K, X360 2K), Wii will still miss it slightly, and be at 74.6%. January maybe?PantherLotus said:I'm starting the 75% market share watch party as of this moment. I'm calling it by November.
For PS2? I don't think that was an issue in Mays of 2002-2006. 2000 and 2001 maybe. There was a definite dip in supply from about August 2000 - February 2001, but without having followed things so closely at the time it's hard to say whether steady numbers before and after that period mean steady demand or steady constrained supply.titiklabingapat said:supply constraints?
Ahh, I hadn't considered the truthiness factor of Wii Fit being the end of real Nintendo games, but that does make a lot of sense.HylianTom said:They can't argue against cold, hard numbers and "facts." So they've moved-on to topics where their feelings seem to hold more value. It's very Colbertesque, methinks.

Now that Japan has just been crushed under the wieght of the DS, and Wii, there are no more arguments, as not even the most hardcore Sony/Microsoft fan can spin these numbers. I miss Tabris, and others who made these threads fun.
I miss the "stupid argument poster", who each and every week would come in and say something so outlandish it was awesome.
Moral has been destroyed, words are lost, and those who would keep up the good fight, are burdened under the wieght of Iwata's heavy gaze.
I miss those days of lore. I miss those days of fun. Goodbye. Goodbye.

If it has enough stock it could probably sell ~400K for its appearance on the chart, but if the 350K shipment holds up, it should sell out easily.
I think normally ~2/3 of the sales are on the first day, but with Nintendo games and titles which have a broader appeal, not just the hardcore, 1st day sales seem to be ~50% of what appears on the chart.Parl said:Well, saying it'll sell out easily would be pushing it, IMHO. Normally more than 57% of the game's first week is in the opening day. Is that correct?
I'd imagine that DQS is a fairly special case and may probably act somewhat like Phantom Hourglass did, however. I can't remember what that did first day and first week though. And what its first shipment was.

Well, I believe the massive PS2 shortages at this point were quite long-lived causing it to sell ~25k / week for several months and only exceeding 50k once in a 20 week period.apujanata said:However, PS2 are going to enjoy christmas sales (Dec 2000) soon, so Wii might sell worse in the next few months (compared to PS2)
Right. Here's PS2's first year of sales, weekly. Late 2000 was PS2's worst time until PS3 released.Jokeropia said:Well, I believe the massive PS2 shortages at this point were quite long-lived causing it to sell ~25k / week for several months and only exceeding 50k once in a 20 week period.
90,340 consoles sold this week. Wii had 83.33% of all console sales.

Can you superimpose the Wii's sales data with that?JoshuaJSlone said:Right. Here's PS2's first year of sales, weekly. Late 2000 was PS2's worst time until PS3 released.

That's why these threads are so short. People have realized that there's nothing to post. In another year or two we'll be back to one page MC threads, like we had in the PS2 days.ccbfan said:Anyone notice MEdia Sales topic are basically the same people going.
"Wow [Nintendo System] did this, incredible!!"
You'd think it'd stop being incredible after the 20th week or something.

For me, it's the opposite. DS selling over 100K a few weeks was big. That it's done so for a year and a half with barely a blip under is... something never before seen, more amazing the longer it goes.ccbfan said:You'd think it'd stop being incredible after the 20th week or something.

Hmm... If we can't manage that, would it be too much to ask if we could request tjhooker instead? We promise we'll look after him, feed him, wash him and take him for walks.Tabris said:I haven't given up, on the contrary, I believe I have great counter arguements for a bunch of posts here, Iwata hasn't crushed me! ... but unfortunately GAF mods/admins won't let me post about media create anymore. And even during this relative slow time, DS is every week selling more than previous successful systems did during large bumps.Moor-Angol said:In the latest weeks DSL sales didn't increase despite new colors added, and as Vinnk said, it's easy to find in shops now, probably now demand is equal to offer and not, like Wii, offer is lesser than demand
