Are there any numbers of Hot Shots Golf Portable? Maybe those would end up being a more accurate representation of what the PS3 game would end up selling, simply because both of those systems weren't anywhere near as dominant as the first two PSs that the series was on.
Minna no Golf Portable 66.079/399.257
Third highest selling game on the PSP.
Based on http://moorangol.altervista.org/others/psp.html at least. Dunno how often it's updated.

Minna no Golf Portable benefited from being a launch title though.

It's over 550k by now...

As I edited in to my previous post, not even close. It's a hair below 400k
If you include "The Best" version, it's pretty close to 550k.

And Mario Party 8 comes out on the same day as well. Yup, it's going to be very interesting.

Don't forget Gundam 0079 (Wii)...
I'm curious too about Minna no Golf 5 and Mario Party 8 first week, but honestly i think Minna5 will win this "battle", even if i'm sure we'll have great numbers for MP8

about Minna no Golf PSP numbers, i don't include regular + budget version numbers cause Famitsu doesn't...

I think you're a bit too soon on this one. That gives 21 more weeks. If this week's numbers repeat 21 times (which, admittedly, is a weaker than average week for Wii by percentage), Wii will be at only 73.1%. Even if we assume something stronger (say Wii 80K, PS3 9K, X360 2K), Wii will still miss it slightly, and be at 74.6%. January maybe?

Good points. (I'm getting 73.6 December 30 if sales remain exactly as last week's). November was a bit overzealous. However, I'm also predicting (surmising from some reports) that shipments will continue to increase, perhaps up as much as 100k total per week...which would definitely give it even more weight. I'll agree with you and bump it down to the end of December.

Most significantly, of course, is not exactly WHEN 75% happens, but what it means. Do you (or the people reading this discourse) realize that when Nintendo hits 75% they're a week or two away from 5 million units sold?

That will be interesting, I think MNG has more preorders, but Mario Party has more of a casual interest, as well as the bigger userbase

Best game ever, shame about the sequels
Does anyone have numbers for the previous Mario Parties? (specifically the Gamecube ones?)

You are right, but if we take a look at chart posted by Stump, we can notice only one time a Mario Party game sold more than 200k on first week.

I'm pointing at 200k cause some weeks ago we heard Minna no Golf 5 had 200k preorders, don't remember if they were retail preorders or customer preorders...

And both games historically always had long legs, even if in the long run the userbase will become important for their LTD

Tada (Wii & PS2 Weekly Sales).

For me this graph illustrates perfectly what has been happening with Wii. It opened with big numbers (as expected) but lower than PS2 by a long shot. As with PS2 the next 18 or so weeks are basically tracking to shipments, but week 19 for the PS2 sees Sony put the console into it's traditional summer hibernation. The Wii on the other-hand continues to get & sell stock, with spikes for hot titles continuing well into July, but has only just reached it's first traditional summer drought.

In terms of actual calendar year PS2 week 19 is approx Wii week 31 and so after the release of DQ:S spike if Wii is only selling to traditional Japanese gamers there should be a slump. If however Nintendo is selling the Wii to their new untaped markets (as we believe) then sales should continue to track to shipments and new titles will continue to cause sales to spike.

Well, PS2 is still selling what's shipped at that point... they just couldn't ship nearly as much, what with shifting some production to units for the upcoming NA and EU launches.

Here's one so times of year match up. PS2 2000, PS2 2001, and Wii 2007.

Those kinds of graphs will be very telling once the shortages for Wii are over. At this point, the only comparison that can really be made is that the Wii is really popular and so was the PS2 in that time frame. Until we see what the Wii levels off at following shortages, as we're seeing now with the DS, we won't be able to really tell if it'll end up selling more than the PS2 in Japan. The signs are certainly there for it, though.

Thanks, JoshuaJSlone! :)

Yup, still hard to say, but at least in US, it's outpacing PS2 and has been since day one. In Japan, hard to say given the online PS2 sales at the beginning, but I'm sure it will outpace PS2 eventually, if it hasn't already done so.

PSP game is a hair below 600k actually. MinGol1 was a 2m seller and if there weren't any other re-releases MinGol4 actually surpassed MinGol2 and MinGol3 sales.

MinGol5 will still bomb compared to those I'm sure, I predicted something along 200-something for the first week quite long ago but after seeing how badly Boku no Natsuyasumi 3 bombed (compared to previous entries) I'm not so sure of my prediction and would actually lower it if I had the chance.

I don't think sinobi has updated yet for this past week's sales. However, he does say that Ouendan 2 has sold ~180K, and since it's averaging ~8K per week, 200K in sales is assured. :D

Nice numbers for Ouendan 2, it's well deserved. Finally finished most of Cheer Girls mode last night (yes, I've been slacking).

Both PS2 and Wii are selling what shipped at this point. Wii the whole time has had to feed sellouts in all the other regions too. They both have done exceptional.

I rather INIS work on something else other than Ouendan. As awesome Ouendan 2 is, it is really getting a bit repetitive.

I'd like to see iNiS work on another console game, they seem to be the one company that can use a unique control scheme to their advantage.

Nah, Ouendan 2 proves that they could make it and feel unique and different. Ouendan 2 was leagues harder than the first two games but it had better beats and the music selection was even better.

The only thing that would make Ouendan better would be ANOTHER difficulty level that is harder than Insane (aka Cheergirls) but easier than Hidden Mode. They could also improve mutiplayer in many different levels.

I wonder what sort of rival team they'd make for EBA2.

They could totally have something really different, like the Canadian Defence Force. Riding mooses and wearing red suits.

:lol

Okay guys, remember the whole reason I moved The Sales-Age Saga off site was because Dragona doesn't want it cluttering up the sales threads.

I'm glad you guys like my story, but if you wish to comment, please do it where my story is actually posted.

With all the talk of PS2 vs Wii charts, and PS3 vs Saturn charts, what is the XBOX 360 comparable to? Is it selling better than the original XBOX? Does anyone have graphs or a chart on that?

Curiosity kills me.

True but I can excuse that because it wasn't on the site (since it didn't chart in Famitsu top30 :lol ). I left out Minna no Tennis on purpose though.

Btw, there is a Vol2 AND Vol3 coming, I'm not fooling you :(

I made some Xbox/X360 comparisons for the recent argument thread about whether PS3 or X360 is doing shittier in Japan. There's some difference on both systems' numbers depending on whether you use Media Create or Famitsu, but for these purposes I used Famitsu since my online MC data doesn't quite go back to Xbox launch.

On a weekly basis, the first Xbox had the much better launch and first year sales. However, ever since Blue Dragon's release X360 has been much stronger weekly. You see jokes about it doing 3K, but this far in the original Xbox was usually below 1K.

Thanks to that, the LTD comparison shows that X360 recently overtook where Xbox was at the same time. It seems almost sure that X360 will pass Xbox's lifetime sales by the end of this year. It will probably even pass 500K total.
