Hot damn! if those numbers are close to the truth one could wonder why nintendo doesnt just bumb up production to meet such insane demand. I wonder if the results will be the same when pokemon comes out in the U.S?

In about 4 hours.

EDIT: Beaten.

5,402 360s would be great. That would be a bigger increase than when 99 nights or Rumble Roses XX came out. Yay Dead Rising and Project Sylpsheed. However if the 2,000 something is true I'd cry.

That would be a 500% increase in 360 sales. If they can continue to increase their sales at that rate for just 1 month, on the fourth week they will sell 3,125,000 consoles in one week. If they can do that for three more weeks, every man woman and child in Japan will own 2 360's. Sony and Nintendo would die. I bet it will happen.

They are unconfirmed numbers. What else would they be? No, I'm not joking.

If I pull numbers out of my but... sources, they are by definition "unconfirmed." DUH!

Will the old one with the chart be coming back this week?

After PS3 launch. ;)

Latest chart is up on VGCharts:

http://www.vgcharts.org/japweekly.php

Pokemon Diamond / Pearl posts the 9th biggest week 1 ever, just behind Gold / Silver and the second biggest debut of the year behind FF XII (although of course it will pass FF XII's total in the next 2 weeks).

http://www.vgcharts.org/japwk.php

Dead Rising is one of the best X360 debuts for a long time.

GB Hardware is now up on VGcharts, going right back to 1989. Original sales were comparatively 'sluggish' but steady over a period of 10 years, seeing some major boosts with Pokemon and then the GBC release, pushing weeks of ~450k one a couple of occasions. I think it is now conclusive that the DS has only it's own records from xmas 05 to break this year, nothing else has, or likely ever will, come close.

Lack of additional creep/economies of scale - that is why

GBA (Total for week): 2,924

That's the fifth straight weekly decline. Looks like the GBA audience is finally coming over to the DS thanks to Pokemon.

I was serious with my last comment, btw.

I'm in agreement. After the early reports of 2 million Pokemon and > 500K DSs in one day, this is all quite disappointing.

Okay, production has finally caught up with demand. There is no way there was only that many DS's available for purchase the week of Pokebomb.

Wich means DS's are readily available in Japan.

*Unless they really only had that many available but I highly doubtthat*

Dead Rising 20,230

Also, this week is the highest selling week for software in 2006. The week of FFXII (which also included Pokemon Ranger) was exceeded.

DSL 285,025

That was the DSL the week NSMB was released... odd how Pokemon couldn't surpass that. I guess it's because of the existence of games like Mystery Dungeon Blue and Ranger.

EDIT: Original DS 4,126 that week too.
