Melty Blood has been around on the web for years (doujin fighting game). I think this is a sequel to the original (which was ported to PS2 before IIRC).
Wow at #3. It's basically a port of the Naomi Arcade version which was a port of the PC Doujin version with added characters, tweaked gameplay, etc.

BTW, did we get the numbers from 31-50?

...BLAH...

To add to that:

31.) PS2 Winning Eleven 10
32.) PS2 Persona 3
33.) PSP Ghouls 'N Ghosts
34.) DS Naruto RPG 3
35.) DS Kanji Training
36.) PS2 Maid Clothes & the Machine Gun (D3 Publisher)
37.) PS2 Namco fighting game
38.) DS Project Hacker
39.) GC Battle Stadium D.O.N.
40.) PS2 Some Sony game
41.) PS2 Growlanser V
42.) PSP LocoRoco (including the bundle)
43.) DS Rockman ZX
44.) PSP Some Sony game
45.) PS2 2nd Kiss (Konami)
46.) PSP Derby Stallion
47.) DS Clubhouse Games
48.) DS Phoenix Wright (best price)
49.) PSP Bleach: Heat the Soul 3
50.) PSP Tekken

Seems that not only is LocoChoke-o being out-paced by Project Hacker, but Battle Stadium DON on the GC and Rockman ZX are surprisingly hanging on quite well...

Hardware
DSL - 196,719
PSP - 41,289
PS2 - 26,547
GBASP - 3,051
GBM - 2,031
Xbox360 - 1,204
GC - 940
DS - 934
GBA - 23
Xbox - 6

I guest this means it is not possible to use the "+7K per week for PSP until holiday 2006" theory to predict the total YTD for PSP at end of Dec 2006.

I just could not believe the DSL (+DS) sales figure. I thought that the weekly sales should have gone down to 100K level by August. DSL is truly a phenomenon in Japan. Hope US can catch up to this level of sales soon. I wonder, who is buying those DSL ?

DSL is doing great and all, but what really amazes me is the PS2

after how many years now? 6? it still has a very, VERY, solid and steady sales on a weekly basis since its launch

nothing affected its sales, GBA, GC, GBA SP, GBmicro, XB, DS, PSP, X360 and now DSL. Did it ever go below 20k?

May Week 4 (22-28) 19,798
June Week 1 (29-04) 18,513
June Week 2 (05-11) 18,981

You know soon enough DS LTD will be more than PS2 LTD?

DS Lite sales are beyond everything that Nintendo could've forseen :lol

Nintendo should definitely produce more of these things, 3 million or so per month.

Btw. LTDs for DS and PSP:

DS: 6.576.041
DSL: 3.730.118
DS + DSL combined: 10.306.159
PSP: 3.840.326

DS Lite will have outsold PSPs LTD in the next week (most likely).

Anybody got hardware LTDs?

Nope. I got LTD up-to Dec 2005, by Famitsu (not M-create)

Playstation 2 18,706,019
GBA 8,978,795
GBASP 5,636,928
DS 5,098,801
GameCube 3,913,258
PSP 2,565,743
XBOX ... 472,991
XB360 ......81,770
GBM ... 394,845

You can add-up the M-create YTD to get the idea of up-to-date LTD (even though it is from 2 source, famitsu and m-create)

No way. It will take at least one year for DS to catch up to PS2, assuming DSL can maintain their weekly sales like this forever. If DSL got slowed down (to perhaps 70K or 50K a week), it may take 2 or more years for it to catch up to PS2.

12 months from now and DS LTD will be more than PS2's and by soon enough I meant in 1 year. Its absolutely impressive for a handheld to sell in less than 3 years more than what PS2 sold in more than 7 years !

19/30 are for DS. And 12/19 are for Nintendo.

This week NSMB sales correspond to 60% of all hardware purchases

By the end of 2006 the DS should have FOUR 3m+ sellers (ACWW, NSMB, BT, BT2).

If DS averages 150k a week until December, and then repeats sales of ~2m in December, then it should have sold ~14.5m units in total, putting it some 6m behind the PS2 LTD (assuming PS2 sells at ~1m more by the end of the year). DSL seems to be on course to surpass PS2 total sales some time in Q1-Q2 2008

Make that five then, since it's doubtful that Diamond and Pearl will each do 3 million individually, certainly by years' end. Of course, it's proven quite dangerous to rule out anything with the DS, so I'm not saying it's impossible.

I don't know how Nintendo can ship enough supply with the upcoming releases of games like FF III, Tingle RPG, WE, Pokemon D/P and even another new DS Lite color release (black) which all can only increase the demand. Why the hell Nintendo doesn't do anything to increase its production capacity? At this rate they can't even match the demand in summer let alone the holiday season.
Yep. I hope Nintendo is currently looking to increase the capacity even more to meet demand. It probably is quite an investment, but hell, at this moment new DS shipments are sold out in just a few hours. I wouldn't be surprised if Japan purchased 500 000 DS'es a week if it had the chance. And FF and Pokémon and the Black Lite still have to come.

Nintendo has some serious problems......oh wait:

He was of course referring to FF3DS.

Then he should have mentioned it. :) Also, I doubt FF3DS will make it, but again, I'm not foolish enough to predict that it won't. :)

Also, LTDs of Tetris DS? Anyone got it?

Should be around 850.000 in Japan, which would put it at ~1.3M worldwide, I believe (sales in the rest of the world have generally been disappointing from what I've seen).

By end of year no single Pokemon title or FF3 will have sold 3m+. Obviously Pokemon will make those numbers eventually but by end 2006 I think there will only be 4 games over 3m.

Given that Nintendo has not managed to overcome DSL shortages since its release, it seems increasingly unlikely that Nintendo will be able to prevent major shortages in Japan (possibly worldwide) from December 2006 - February 2007. I just hope they have enough units out there to break the 600k record this year :D

WTF? Nintendo shipped 4.01 million as of June 30, 2006.
Yeah - Famitsu has the Cube at 3,986,775 through July 30/06, which matches much closer to the Nintendo shipped numbers. Media Create is a bit high for the Cube based on the shipped numbers.

jj984jj

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
That's because Media Create counts what retailers tell them, systems sold that week. This includes systems resold I believe.

:lol :lol

You people are funny.

Media Create have tracked the GC hardware too high, simple as that.

The mistake comes from way back in 2001 when MC tracked all Nintendo stuff about 10% too high because they over-corrected too much from tracking way too low in 97-2000. After 2001 they have got it about right (a little low if anything, but better to be on the low side than high I guess).

GBA YTD: 299,103

The GBA will pass 300K YTD next week. Anyone else think that with Nintendo having extra stock for the FFIII release that the DS+DS Lite total for next week will be greater than 300K?

definitely if Nintendo ship more than 300k, shipped=sold :)

PSP released 12th December 2004
DS Lite released 2nd March 2006

And next week the DS lite will surpass the PSP's LTD.

That is pretty amazing.

Nobody really expected Sony to destroy Nintendo in the handheld market. It is a well known fact that brand loyalty is very important in this industry and the leaders never change.

I'm working on a graph covering that as well. The LTD software at the end of June was around 28.7 million for DS and around 8.0 for PSP.
~2.5 million DS sw is sold every month now. And that is Japan only!

Pokemon games arent really counted as an individual title ever but grouped together. As a combined single title, they'll definitely be over 3 million by the end of the year, that's certain. I think FF3 will probably make it to the million mark in the end, but I'm not expecting the legs of Nintendo titles to push it to 2+ millions.
