Totally forgot about DQX. I wonder how well it'll do.

Isn't there going to be another major game drought for Wii U after DQX and G&W are released?
It is to be assumed so. That's the best answer possible given Nintendo's way of announcing dates.

Yes. Right now the next retail release is RE:Revelations on May 23. Pokemon Rumble is April 24th but is download only.

The only other release dated is Injustice in June I believe.

As you can see, Nintendo seems disinterested in its home console right now and is content to let it die a slow death.

If we're just counting on re-buyers who have played through the Wii version, I'd say prepare to be underwhelmed. It's an MMO, the people who really wanted to play already have...and I don't see a re-release of an MMO in Japan doing well if you have to buy a new console to play it. I'd say debut week sales will be below 100k.

I'm surprised that Laguna is surprised that people are surprised that PSV didn´t completely falter this week.

I´m surprised that people are surprised that PSV didn´t completely falter this week. Especially since One Piece has been mentioned several times in prior threads as an "important" PSV title. Also looking at the releases this week it had one of the stongest weeks release wise since its release. Obviously a lot better than last weeks releases and the holiday was a nice extra. So in that context I think it´s a little funny to see that some can´t hold back their enthusiasm for merely 37k-41k units sold.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 60.315 / NEW
Atelier Meruru Plus: The Alchemist of Arland 3 25.095 / NEW
Pro Baseball Spirits 2013 23.621 / NEW [/b]
Dead or Alive 5+ 13.291 / NEW [/b]
--------------------------------------------
Soul Sacrifice 15.488 / 137.006
There were also counter argumenets that those titles were too niche and wouldnt move much hardware. Also that those titles had a bigger chance to sell to the excisting Vita owners rather than boosting hardware sales, or being multiplatform (like One Piece).

Well now that is interesting... what is the significance of the week-to-week comparison in the chart above then?

It's useless.

Come on now. Consoles sell different amounts depending on what time of the year it is.

Comparing the GameCube since September vs. the Wii U from November would be LEGITIMATELY useless because consumer demand fluctuates widely from September to November.

Makes much more sense to align them. :p

Wii U could be GameCube all over again... oh boy. I don't think Iwata would be happy with that level of performance, though. Not the same CEO who saw their home console business go from 22 million GCN's to 99 million Wii's.

Tomorrow will be ND - mark my words

Let's hope. It makes sense! The G&W page is still missing info on 4 of the 16 games. And Dillion 2 needs a releas.e

I'm dying to play Trine :(. As far as I know they still haven't gotten a Japanese publisher.

Nothing has, yet. But apparently Gunman Clive is coming to the 3DS eshop, so anything's possible.

Rumble has retail download cards, though.

But yeah, 5 dated releases in Japan that aren't VC games. Pretty poor.

PS Vita overall doing way better than expected in hardware sales, but Soul Sacrifice not being the evergreen title that it needed to be has serious implications on the upcoming barren release schedule.

Lol. I am fascinated that Game & Wario is coming out in Japan tomorrow. I had no idea Nintendo had given it a final release date. We don't even know what's coming out for Wii U in April over here in NA. Terrible...
yeah, I've been following the game industry closely for over 10 years now and I've never seen anything like Nintendo's current handling of Wii U in all regions. Of course they didn't plan it like this, but I wonder what exactly went wrong. Pikmin 3 has been in the works for how many years? Presumably Wii Party U, Wii Fit U, or the Wonderful 101 could make an appearance soon.

And Pikmin 3.

I still can't believe it hasn't been released yet. I remember wanting to get a Wii U at launch because I expected the game to be released alongside the console.

My thoughts exactly. The bad news outweighs the good for Sony, at least in my estimation.

When is "soon"? You've been saying that for weeks now.

My original prediction was that it would be below 15K by this week and below 10K by mid-April.

The former obviously didn't happen and the latter likely won't, so I'd revise that a bit: below 10K by the end of April.

Shit! It was a holiday this week? I didn't know. Vita actually increased. Alright I guess we have to wait 2 more weeks or so to see normal levels for Vita again (10k).

first surprise is that LM2 outsold OP2 PS3. I don't think anyone expected that a couple weeks ago.

second surprise is that VITA increased and over 40K. Impressive.

third surprise is that OP2 VITA is selling over 20% of OP2 PS3. Was expecting 15%.

Better than expected week for Vita, but it looks like Soul Sacrifice is following the typical sales pattern of a ~250k seller. I'm sure Sony was hoping for something much greater.

More like 200K if we are talking about MC/Famitsu number.

Its baffling. Even little things- 2 somewhat notable releases this week and so far not even a mini Nintendo Direct to hype it. Game & Wario coming now instead of closer to Golden Week.

Who's working on Wii Party U? Nd Cube? But Nintendo has expanded quite a bit since 2009 (over 500 more employees, IIRC), and I think the restructuring at Nintendo is trying to make things more efficient (we won't see the fruits of the labor for a while though).

This is actually really surprising, I would expect Sony fans to be more interested in DOA than Nintendo fans.

Where's Soul Calibur 3DS?

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Where's Soul Calibur 3DS?

Probably it has to do with the fact that DoA: Dimensions was a sort of exclusive while DoA5+ is a porting?

hahaha good lord let him at least start the new fiscal year to see if he mets the goals he set, will you?

At this rate unless the Wii U suddenly starts selling 100k weekly while not slowing the 3DS momentum I doubt they'll be back to 1 billion in operating income by the end of the next fiscal year.

You don't think some of them were pushed into next year to help keep game releases more steady/increase next year's profits? After all, as others have said, how much polish can Wii Fit need?
