Mel Gibson is planning a sequel to Passion of the Christ

Jokes aside, if this film depicted the Harrowing of Hell, that would be all sorts of badass. Jesus just putting down demons with a single hand while tearing open Hell's gates to rescue the souls inside.

Even after, what did you think?

Also, John Debney needs to come back for the score.

It was one of the better religious movies overall. Debney's soundtrack was appropriately over the top and melodramatic. And the devil was one of the best portrayals of lucifer imo.

Mel must need the money or looking for a quick way to make hundreds of millions dollars after being abandoned by Hollywood and losing half his fortune to his ex wife. I don't think a sequel will have the same impact as it did back then, plus I think he waited too long while everybody else was cashing in on the Jesus and bible craze after Passion. Who knows though. I'm not going to count Mel out.

Man, I'm starting to like you. It had some poetic moments within that film that could resonate with a viewer even if you weren't a believer. Best lucifer ever. I also think Tilda Swinton's Gabriel in Constantine is the best portrayal of an angel.

425 million is a huuuge amount to lose in a divorce haha. This would be his best shot at making some big money but it seems like a big risk too. Who knows if he can capture that zeitgeist again.

Looking forward to that war movie he made with andrew garfield tho. Great actor.

Is that movie done? When is it releasing?

Peter's Crucifixion might be a good idea for the sequel...

I mean, it's a story rarely explored.

Not that I want a sequel, even as a Christian

Hey, that's not a bad idea. Has that ever been depicted in any tv movie or film? I've always been curious to see the upside down crucifixion. I figure the sequel will deal immediately after the events of the Passion and deal with the fallout from resurrection and end with Jesus's ascension and instructions.

I really don't like that they felt the need to kill Jesus off in the first one just to raise the stakes.

Hey, can I get a cheesy slasher movie sequel treatment of this, though? Like Friday the 13th, but with Romans in place of terrified campers.

But the first film was pretty grounded, where did this resurrection bullshit come from?

I know right? The first Friday the 13th was ordinary slasher without really super natural element, now they are going to do the same with Passion of the Christ and introduce zombie main character, wtf?

There's not a whole lot of a story to tell there. I mean it's literally...Jesus comes back, gets seen by various people, goes to Heaven. This would be like making a movie out of Paradiso. There's just nothing to do.

Should've made it about Paul.

Too bad he's not a Mormon, then he'd actually be able to do something more interesting!
