Goddamnit, Sn4ke.

Well yeah that escalated quickly. Please from now on just PM me if you want to support Team A and be on that picture. Or just add yourself to the pic.

I will add the people on the previous page in a few hours.

Do you guys really think Hayter is going to be able to pull off a 12 year old kid?

No? of course Hayter will not voice a 12 year old little kid. A time jump will happen and we see an adult Solid Snake voiced by David Hayter.

So basically a cameo at the end of the game?

Who knows, or we'll play in the middle of the game as Solid Snake and fight against Big Boss.

The main reason why i think they had to change the voice actor for Big Boss is because he will face Solid Snake at some point in the game and then it would be pretty stupid if they have the same voice actor.

If they end up making the MG remake as a part of MGSV I'll be pissed. It deserves it's own game.

But the Japanese voice actor for Big Boss is the same one as Solid Snake. I still wouldn't put it passed Kojima, but..

When journos asked Kojima this question if it will come full circle and if we see Solid Snake etc.

He said there is a very specific way for the game to put things together.

So i think we might play some very important parts of MG1 and 2 in TPP, of course he won't copy those games 1:1. but i do believe he wants to end TPP at MGS1 and not MG1.

Kojima said if a remake happens he wants to make MGS1. Now if TPP ends at MG1 it would make no sense remaking MGS1 before MG1. The most logical way would be that remake so i think TPP covers MG1 and MG2 events.

This also gives Kojima the option to finally move on from the Metal Gear series.

I really hope this isn't the case. My ideal scenario is that TPP ends with a phone call hinting at Operation Intrude N312.

He played both Solid and Solidus in MGS 2 so it could happen I guess.

Huh, didn't know that. That would totally work too, with the whole "Solidus Snake is Solid Snake" thing for the first half of the plant.

Watching my favourite MGS scenes in Japanese is a weird experience.

Kojima said he's afraid TPP is too long and people don't finish it. (TPP will be over 200x times bigger than GZ) So a huge portion of Solid Snake is totally possible.

Sorry im on phone and can't provide any links.

While that sounds neat, it strikes me as being a bit too on the nose for Kojima's style. If that is indeed what the final act of the game entails, I would speculate that we see all of it from the perspective of Big Boss. We watch him communicate to Snake via the radio, see what he does while Snake is infiltrating, and ultimately we play as Big Boss fighting against Snake in the final battle.

MG1 + 2 are also pretty huge games in terms of story, they'd have to butcher it in order to fit everything in TPP.

having MG1 and 2 integrated into TPP makes no sense for kojima to do. you can't really do that and keep the motherbase building throughout the game. everyone with that theory has yet to address the glaring issue there. if you play as solid snake infiltrating the two bases, how does that logically fit in with recruiting soldiers, developing tech, etc?

That would be cool, but it would be so much more awesome if we end up switching to Solid Snake in the last half or a quarter of the game and replay events from MG1 and 2.

Imagine invading Outer Heaven, except it's the one you spent most of the game developing and now Snake has to infiltrate it.

I mean just imagine it, Big Boss gets one final game and Solid Snake gets another game and the series comes full circle.

It's fucking beautiful. T_T

Also, there's enough little clues and hints that have been left behind that the scenario I just outlined could happen.

It would also make it Kojima's Masterpiece.

Simple, the whole game would switch to playing like a classic MG game or like in GZ when we didn't have any of that stuff.

Well yeah, what if we're not playing as Solid Snake and see everything from Big Boss perspective? but then again people screamed for a younger Solid's return and then he is not playable? i don't know... we'll see how it all turns out.

that would be awful. i want basebuilding and recruiting and development for 100 hours after the narrative is done with ala peace walker.

i wouldn't put it past kojima. but it would completely compromise the vision of the game as he's presented it to us. you just strip all the depth that you've been boasting about since e3? terrible. i would be devastated

and infiltrating your own base that you built would be weak too. you'd obviously already know the entire layout of it

Agreed, TPP is over 200 times bigger than GZ.

First half we play as Big Boss, second as Solid Snake without the whole mother base stuff.

It would be amazing.

so everything kojima has been hyping for the past 3 months is going to get shit-canned halfway through the game? you actually think that would be great?

I'm of a mind to believe that MGS2-4 will never need to be truly remastered. They are at at a level of fidelity that looks good with just a resolution increase.

MGS1 could be redone in the Fox engine with new models and textures, while retaining the isometric perspective and gameplay.

I'd imagine MGS6 will tread into MG1/2 waters anyways.

That's how it is with most PS2 games really. It's the reason HD remasters haven't really been done for games from earlier than that. The oldest games I can think of that got HD remasters were some Dreamcast games that came out in 2000 like Code Veronica and Jet Set Radio. I guess you could count Sonic Adventure DX (1998 in Japan). It seems every developer has agreed that once you go back as far as PS1/N64, the art assets need a lot more than a resolution bump to continue to look good. Though, some PC gamers who continue to play System Shock 2 and Deus Ex might disagree (texture packs notwithstanding).

I think Rare is the only company that's gone back to remaster N64 games in HD.

They could totally do all that in the next game! Based on what we've seen so far, there's a lot of story to cover in TPP. There's no way they're going fit all of that + Metal Gear + Metal Gear 2 in one game without cutting out details. It's just too much.

Plus, I doubt Outer Heaven is future Mother Base.

I think 200x is refering to map size, not content.

Maaaaan the wait for TGS is now bullshit, I want to see the rest of this and everything else they are going to talk about or show. :(

Exactly, that's what I'm saying! We must be of the same genetic make up Sn4ke, we are thinking the same ideas.

It would be great to play again as the legendary soldier in Fox Engine!

What if we play only specific missions as Solid Snake?

But yeah, at this point it's pretty useless to discuss this stuff, it could turn out completely different.

Haha yep man. Brother!

Concerning MG1 and 2, I think there's a good chance we'll just see a full retelling of those stories in the future, as a separate game. TPP will probably just heavily hint at those events.

It would make sense if Kojima wrapped the series up with a retelling of MG1 and MG2. Probably split it into two chapters like he's doing MGSV (but have each chapter be roughly half the game). Think about it: We've already seen the beginning of Big Boss and the end of Solid Snake. A retelling of the original stories would show us a modern version of the beginning of Solid Snake and the end of Big Boss. They could even call it MGS0 instead of MGS6.

Kojima wants to move on. This time for real, otherwise he would not work on Silent Hills. Remember his next game is not an MGS game anymore and that's why i think he will cover all important stuff in TPP.

I have no idea what's going on in this thread but I've never played a MGS game. Last metal gear I played was the OG version on NES.

By the time the PS versions were coming out, I was deeply entrenched in PC gaming so I missed them.

If the MGS collection gets ported to PC, I'll jump on this and see what all the fuss is about. Kinda exciting if it does after hearing how passionately people get about it (especially Dan Ryckert on the bombcasts).

I feel excite.

1 and 2 came out on pc, you missed out!

but anyway, i'm probably more excited to find out what this is rather than seeing any more of mgsv before launch. seeing how every other post in this thread is about a pc release, ground zeroes and the phantom pain getting announced for steam seems to have really lit a fire under the asses of people and got them interested in seeing even more mgs on pc, and that's super cool.

Probably best to leave Team memberships to the community thread?

Also I'm 90% sure the OG Snake voice actor will appear be in MGSV. Don't know how, but he will be. I got your number Kojima

As a cameo or flash forward maybe sure. But solid snake will be only 12-13 years old. so.. unless The game takes place not just in 1984 but 1989/1990... Remember Metal Gear 1 is 1995

Also This. I've been thinking about this exact same thing for years.

They'd HAVE to get David hayter back for that, for a real Big Boss vs Solid Snake showdown.

Yeah, Kojima would NEVER do something like that!

i never said it wasn't beyond the realm of possibility. i just question why anyone in their right mind would WANT the game to go in that direction. so desperate to play as hayter snake that they are willing to sacrifice the entire concept of the game as presented in favor of a more traditional metal gear narrative? fuuuuuuck that. i want my next-gen HD peace walker with huge open world-ish levels

PC plz kojima

be a bro

Look up Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes in Steam.. Put them on your Steam Wishlish (and move them top spot) so they know you be cravin'

It's metrics like that which allows the developers to collect data on what types of games gamers desire. Same goes for Early Access games and Greenlit games.

I have never played a Metal Gear game, due to not having a Sony System until my Vita 3 years ago. Now that I have a PS4 I have my fingers crossed for it to show up there so I can understand what all the fuss is about.

You can play MGS 1-3, PW on vita, the only game you would be missing out it's mgs4.
