Edit: You should check out that documentary I saw btw. It's called "Beware of Mr.Baker". I hope Ginger needs know introduction.. The most interesting part of his story was how he went to Africa after Blind Faith broke up, and how he hooked up with Fela. He got mixed up with some bad dudes that tried to hijack Fela's studio and he left town with bullets whizzing past his head. Interesting story of Britbong in Africa.

I seent it boss. Before it came out, there was a Cream documentay that he was in and it was funny seeing him talk so much shit about Jack Bruce. That dude is 90+ years old and is still drumming and chain smoking like it's nobody's business.

Yeah Fela gave no fucks. at all. Highly intelligent individual, with a furious musical energy. He was highly political as well and completely outspoken about the african government. I'd be willing to bet that Kojima listens to Fela and would not be surprised if he is not mentioned in one of the audio tapes given Kojima's love of history.

If I'm ever in Lafayette, I'd like to buy you a beer and marathon play some Metal Gear. Maybe while listening to some Cream. Or Fela. I've actually been lucky enough to see Clapton three times in concert. The first two times were consecutive nights. Clapton played the whole Derek and the Dominoes album with Derek Trucks (who pretty much stands in for Duane Allman these days). The third time, two or so years later, he played a bunch of Cream stuff. You can't watch your wife, and your outside womens too.

Edit: It's wicked funny how Baker talks so much shit about Bruce and how he has nothing but cudos for Clapton. Bruce is far more of a presence than Clapton (personality wise) so you'd figure he was more likely to be bullied. In general though, I dislike Bruce. He seems like a little bitch who cried every time he didn't get his way. Amazing bassist though. I dare say, Baker is to rock and roll what Hunter Thompson was to journalism.

Edit 2: Does my Boston show when I say "wicked"?

So yesterday I finished Metal Gear Solid 1 again, I really hate the part between the 2nd Wolf fight and Raven, since there's security cameras that you just have to know are there otherwise you get shot, an small number of rations so god luck if you get shot once, especially on the elevator fight.
At least REX is kinda easy.

does peace walker HD gets on sale frequently on the PSN ?
it's the only one I haven't played and I heard it's pretty important to understand GZ and TPP, if possible wanna play it before GZ is out on PC

I wanted to play it on my PSP but when I actually started playing, the horror
locked at 20fps

Since you mention playing GZ on PC, why don't you play PW with PPSSPP on your PC?

It's very playable. They recently fixed a bug where one of the bosses health bar didn't deplete completely.

I played it a few months ago. The only thing is that online mode doesn't work.

will it still not be locked at 20fps ?
i can deal with 30 no problem but 20 is really is pushing it, unless PPSSPP also does Vita emulation. I'm not really up to date with handheld emulation.

Congrats.

Now do MGS4. :)

I am gonna do FOXHOUND run of MGS3 next. But I am gonna apply extra MGS2 rules:

- Under 3 hours
- 8 Saves tops
- Classic camera only

Why call it a big boss rank in mgs2 in the first place if he never actually performed at that level, right? ;)

How do you guys usually play MGS games during your first playthrough?
Because as long as I don't go non-lethal I feel like I'm not even putting effort into it. It becomes too easy for me. Killing in MGS is something I don't really enjoy.

I honestly don't remenber how my first MGS1 or 4 playthoughs went, but at least for MGS3 I remenber using non-lethal on Normal, but even that was quite a whole ago so I don't remenber.

I enjoy killing in 2, 3, 4, and GZ. The head blood splatter effect in 2 is so good, and the shotgun in 3 makes it all worth it. Rail Gun in 4 was made for going crazy, and in GZ I liked the sniper rifle for auto aim shooting.

Going rambo in 1 isn't too fun. Kills don't feel satisfying unless you headshot with the psg1. And in the MSX games you end up killing hundreds of guards regardless.

I usually try to go non lethal at first but am not afraid to go lethal if spotted or if it's more convenient. Sequential playthroughs are all non lethal to the point where I'll reload to make sure I do so.

TPP (and PQ) of course encourages non lethal with mother base expansion.

This. I indulge myself with the fantasy that "this is how snake would approach it" sans cardboard boxes and porno mags. My first play through will be stoic MGS. The silly shit'll come later.

Yeah I also normally don't care about killing in MGS1, since it kinda fits on how Snake hasn't had his development yet.

In first playthroughs, I'm usually pretty lethal although I'm not running and gunning around. Since 3 onwards, I've been a notorious throat slitter. I try to sneak up on every guard.

Metal Gear is difficult. I keep dying.

I tried Metal Gear once. Never again.

Finished the game. The key card system is one weird motherfucker...

I also tried Metal Gear. Did not have much fun. Will play when remake comes out in 2021.

I atleast rescued Grey Fox, but yeah, I prefer the remake

I beat it in a couple days. It's not that hard to play. Just use a spoiler-free walkthrough and everything should be fine.

MG2 on the other hand is a very good game, especially for its time.

I agree. Metal Gear isn't all that difficult. Items instantly respawn when you leave the screen, the majority of alerts stop when you move to a new screen, all alerts stop when you enter an elevator. Metal Gear 2 is far more difficult and less forgiving. It also happens to be the superior game. Now if you're playing MG NES, I can always forgive folks for giving up.

Edit: I did a timeline run recently and it sucked going from GZ to Metal Gear. Not just because of graphics and game play, but also because of the cliffhanger ending of GZ. Story wise, every thing has been resolved by the time you get to Metal Gear, it just makes me want to know what happened during the interim pretty badly.

I used to live in New Orleans until Katrina. Live in DC now but cool to know there's someone from MG Gaf from the area.

Is it even possible to have 3 hours on the in game timer? I mean holy shit. If my extra playthroughs only took 3-4 hours, I'd gladly replay games.

World record is around 90 minutes. All 4 main mgs games can be beaten in under 2 hours :)

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
Specifically TPP? This was talked about on Kojima Station many months ago during a Joosten segment. They were just giving info on how they make certain sound effects.

Yes but i don't recall them showing the "snowy area" thingy.

Yeah it would be redundant for sure but a nice touch. Am I remembering things wrong or were distraction mags unlimited in Ground Zeroes?
