Matt came in and beat you to the spot. There was more gaffers (12, mostly fox) than non gaffers. There's about 5 spots open, get in and I'll unlock the server.

The server seems to be doing fine with the pass, I'm leaving it on for a couple of hours or till it starts emptying. And if Tie is a gaffer or the other guy I kicked, sorry. I didn't see a clan emblem so I assumed you guys weren't gaffers.

No problem. I like keeping the server open for everyone, but I have no problem kicking out non gaffers with low scores to make room for gaffers

Does anybody who played on my server (Rosemary, NeoGAF, "Don't forget to use SOP.") today have any suggestions? Any preferred maps/rule combos? Should I take out the DM, Rescue, & Capture rules (people seem to drop out when these rules come into play)? Should I drop the TDM from 4 rounds to 2 and replace the other rules with TDM (except sneaking & base)? Any significant prolonged lag experienced? What about Silent mode? Should I leave it off (It seems like I'm the only one who prefers it)? I basically need any feedback you got so I can keep this thing going.

That was one of the craziest matches I've experienced. We almost had an epic comeback, but your porn mags and grenades ruined us.

You are a gaffer, I didn't kick you. I kicked a guy before you came in and then a minute after you got in, you got dropped or dc'ed. Another guy came in soon after (Tie), I kicked him because he didn't have a clan emblem and I didn't recognize his id. The rule/map finished a second later and 5 people dropped out (you and noz came back around this time).

Your server is fine the way it is now, in my opinion. I like the variety in the game types. I guess some people might not like the capture missions if they're dropping out, but those are usually my favorite.

Cool, good to know. What about silent mode? Do you prefer having it off or on? I love playing with it on, it encourages more teamwork and cooperation because you have to make sure the target is dead and you don't get to see through the camera of your killer, but several gaffers have mentioned that they prefer it off.....

I could go either way on that one. It's fun to know who you're in a gunfight with, but that extra strategy you mentioned is probably more beneficial to the game.

So if I had to choose I'd leave silent mode on.

quick question. can you level up skills to lvl 3 even if you are using only lvl 1?

let's say i have CQC level 1 and Blades level 3.

Will CQC level up beyond level 2 or will it just stay put and i need to equip level 2 for it to go to 3?

It levels up regardles of the level you're using.

At least, that's how it was in the beta...


btw. Seems that everything levels up alot faster then it was in the beta. Earlier it was like nanomater more of level bar per hour of playing :lol .

If there isn't many Gaffers online it maybe best to leave PW off, i know what you mean tho its happened to me a few times. How about Gaf servers having zero tolerance of TK, add that to the server comment when hosting unlocked games and if anyone does TK the victim can ask for the player to be kicked which is done immediatly by the host?

You know, I was going to ask you guys if you used auto aim. People seem to be able to kill me so easy and quick with like one shot. I figured it was auto aim like GTA4 online heh. Ialways used manual on both games, single player, and multiplayer.

Konami (and Sony for letting it happen) should really be ashamed for creating such a bullshit process to play when we already have a universal ID on the system.

As for the game itself, well it is defintely not for the feint of heart. If you don't know what you are doing it's going to seem extremely painful. Body shots can take a full clip to bring some one down if you just hold onto the trigger. The CQC can be a bitch because you don't know how close you have to be to grab hold of someone plus network lag can make things look real cheap. Leveling up can take forever. Hardly anyone uses mics on a public game.

Having said that for me it's been extremely fun and I look forward to playing it every day. It's certainly a huge improvement over the older Metal Gear Online games.

That's the only thing that worries me about MGO, that it'll be too hardcore. I love the game and play all I can but i've gone into rooms where I have 5 deaths before i know it and I'm not new to online shooters. Spawn camping seems to be an issue. I don't like what I'm hearing about gas bomb spamming either.

Does anyone know where Konami looks for feedback? With the COD games I know they read their officials forums as well as the official Playstation forum.

Ofc it's all possible via PSN, but the guys at Konami probably think that if they get people to sign up to their database they can rape them for money. One thing that will totally destroy the community would be if they release the new maps only on the MGO store and not on the PSN Store. That would kill the game IMO.

Unfortunately you're probably right. I couldn't believe the pricing for the codec pack but I hear a lot of people with it already. Ick.

MGO is a great game and I really love it but I honestly think that the way Konami has implemented it, with Konami IDs, Region locks and charges for extra characters, they've doomed it to failure or at least really hurt it's chances. There's just too many barriers to entry for it to grab a huge number of people.

Nope, at the very least you have WasabiKing and I also flying that flag. It really is a pain in the ass. At this point I'd gladly uninstall whatever MGS4 act is currently on my hdd for an MGO install + XMB launch.

put me down for XMB launch for MGO. plus they need to get rid of the damn license agreement everywhere, if I agree once i shouldn't have to click over to yes every time i launch the game or visit the community site.

I don't think you can buy the SOP Destabs unless you have a certain skill equipped. I've been unable to purchase them myself and I recall someone saying something about in one of the matches I was in last night.

I wish I could play at night, but lately I have been restricted to AM gaming, when not a single person from my friend list or Frog Unit is on. Hopefully I will be able to play some fellow GAFers soon.

I didn't participate in the beta, and I am finding a tough learning curve. Anyone else in the same boat? Some matches I will get on a roll and do well, but the very next match I will get killed over and over and over. Always fun, though.

anyone notice lag in the game? i was playing last night and boy, it was probably a delay of 2 seconds from shooting someone and it finally registering. I wasn't in the gaf server though, just some quick matching one.

also, can you change your clothing? I used all olive drab clothing and when i noticed the lack of green on the levels i wanted to change atleast the colour, but can't find where thats possible. do i have to be a certain level first? i assume i'm still level one because i havn't played much.

Racist. I've never experienced lag on any of the GAF servers, but have certainly hit some HUGE lag elsewhere. I'm not sure what kind of lag is my favorite, the "I know if it wasn't lagged I'd already be dead from that headshot and not quite sure how or why my next and final shot will be a counter headshot" or the "cant switch weapons or items" kind of lag :lol

No, you know what blows ass? The fact my power goes out at least 100 days during the year. I mean it can be middle of the summer and the power will go out, middle of the winter, sunny days, windy days, and yes during storms. However we had a tornado and the power stayed on :lol

My dad lives down the block from me, and his power NEVER goes out, somehow he has a different power company a block away.
