Metal Gear Rising 2 teased at Taipei Game show

Gray fox has a whole story from the end of MG2 to MGS1 that is a blank space. Considering the idea was on the table from konami as well they saw something with the idea. Hes dead but there's still a story in-between those games.

As for Rising the problem I have is that it still tries to be metal gear. The game does a lot of 180 in tones and it's so jarring
. Sam was about the only thing that felt consistent and a good middle ground of being best of both worlds. I don't mind over the top, but tone was all over the place. Felt like platinum wanted to go all out but then remembered they can't exactly.

I felt the entire game is tongue in cheek, where the drama revolves around shit that is completely insane.

George got cut in half and then was pieced back together in a matter of hours or days. Raiden getting his eye cut out (which is one of the last body parts he still orignally had) warranted a hearty "damn!". The main antagonist ends up being a United States senator that says he wanted to cause "another 9/11". One of the main conflicts is building child soldiers by taking their brains and training them in VR.

The tone is consistently goofy, jarring, and fantastical.

btw.: mgr: revengance wasn't canon, was it?

Officially i don't believe it's canon, but there's nothing that really says it can't be canon? I dunno, I doubt we'll ever get a mainline MGS game that goes beyond MGS4 so whether MGR is canon or not is kind of irrelevant

y u make me do dis

Not saying 4 was great or anything but at least the ending left the universe in a decent place.
Snake dying either way was really dumb but the world was in a good place and that it could maybe be peaceful for a time,
then Rising comes along and is like "LOL, nope"

But if we are getting 2 can Sunny get a bigger role and maybe bring Mei-Ling in?

Ah forgot about Korra, it's probably a problem with their in-house engine.

Since Scaleabound is using UE4, I imagine that's what all their PS4/Xbone games will use.

I guess i just really didn't feel the tone. I don't mind over the top but it never clicked with me the 3 times I beat it. I can see why others though. I guess MGR is just one of those games i know I should like more than i do, but for some reason don't.

I knew it sold really well but I was still worried MGR would become this strange, brilliant, forgotten gem in the series.

I'm really hyped now. Think of how much fun the mechanics are and how they will be when refined.

I don't know the PC sales, but before that, it kind of bombed outside of Japan. But then again, that was also the case for Resident Evil Revelations and yet there's another one...

I really don't get why everyone wants platinum to make everything..

Not literally everything. Their is a good list of titles that they could really elevate. Heavenly sword and zoe3 imo especially. GOAT action game developer making GOAT action games. What's not to want?

PC PLEASSSSSE

Wii U release somehow would be awesome but it's not gonna happen :(

XBone relase would be ok I guess as I need one for scalebound

There's not a lot of room for that. Being a lot better than the first one would probably make it the best action game ever made.

Which is why I'm hyped. If MGR2 has better camera control, real time sub-weapon switching, a few more enemy variants, and something more akin to a DMC Bloody Palace mode then MGR2 could be my game of the forever.

Also a more balanced challenge with fewer gamebreaking weapons.

Also good level design.

I didn't really have a big issue with MGRs level design at all. It was linear, yeah, but that's a problem almost all games in this genre run into. The environments everything took place in were visually serviceable I thought.

I have no doubts that the levels will improve assuming MGR2 has a bigger development window than MGR1 did

The middle portion of the game had too many small, indoor environments for my taste. The camera didn't play nice with those sections, either.

I'm sure that they'll improve on this in the sequel given that they'll have more development time, though.

I think Rising kind of fell apart at the end (going backwards through a level as a separate chapter, having a slow-walking segment that's both graded and required before getting to a boss) and I want the cutscenes to be realtime to reflect costume changes.

But it's still absolutely amazing and I'm jazzed for a sequel.

Yeah, I could see how people wouldn't like that. If the camera was a bit better I don't know if that would be a big complaint though (camera control is one thing I want improved in MGR2)

Look at this badass mofo and try to tell me you don't want him in MGR2.

I don't want him in MGR2.

I don't want Platinum handcuffed with a Gray Fox prequel game because I think it would limit the amount of batshit crazy stuff they could do in the game. I want more post-MGS4 Raiden suplexing-metal-gears and nanomachines-son level crazy

the games are just different. maybe they are good, but the aren't what they were to be.
and I don't like that.

I wanted a mgs: rising made by kojima and I want a ZOE 3 made by the guys that made the first 2.

But... he'll be in MGR2 anyway.

As a costume.

Well...

Kojima wants Metal Gear Rising 2 to star Cyborg Ninja Gray Fox

Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has told VideoGamer.com that he wants Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance 2 to star Cyborg Ninja Gray Fox, and have him fight against nano machine zombies.

"We started off with the concept of having Cyborg Raiden as the main character, but gradually as development proceeded he kind of grew closer and closer to Cyborg Ninja," said Kojima.

"Honestly I think that personally if we are going to make a sequel to Rising it should feature Frank Yaeger as a main character versus zombies... nano machine-powered zombies. That's what I'm proposing to Platinum and the producer of the project, but they seem to be ignoring me.

"I said I'll even write the story for it, but our story writer said, 'no that's ok, that's ok. Don't worry about it'."
