I'm playing Mission 30 right now and
the use of "Sins of the Father" in that scene was kind of awkward.

I agree. What I would've done...

Spoilers for AFTER MISSION 30. DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T BEAT MISSION 30.
You kill skullface, you get back on the chopper with Kaz, Huey, etc. all bloodied and shit. Then the camera pans around you as you light up your cig and queue Sins of the Father. 3 mins of BB smoking and reflecting on all he's done and if it was worth it.

Dear god man the story.........the plane has crashed into the goddamn mountain. I'm trying to hurry up and finish this bullshit at this point. So you don't have to replay the harder iterations of the old missions to get episode 43 right? Just side ops?

What if... the rest of the story is told through MGO??? eh? eh guys?? eh?
It would be kinda cool, but would fix the systematic proms with the story.
That would be amazing. So Kojima-ish
Meh, Chrome hounds did it 9 years ago.

Correct, just keep doing both normal and important side-ops to earn all the story missions in chapter 2.

So I was under the impression there would be two streams in a few hours. But checking Konami's YT channel I just see one. There is one a bit later too, but according to this there should have been two streams back to back.

Yeah, but I don't see a single person here saying they like the story so idk...
Also I know games are mostly about gameplay but reviews have always factored in story, especially these days, ESPECIALLY for Metal Gear, so not seeing people take off points for a bad story is weird.
But yeah in the end I'll have to see for myself. I'm always up for some Kojima madness.
Maybe one day, in 10 years, there'll be youtube videos about MGSV being a storytelling masterpiece and it's hidden message in its marketing and release like MGS2. heh
Also I really hope MGO is good because the gameplay is too good to not be fully realized with some PvP

Try to judge it based on what it is not what you expected it to be.

I think most people expected it to be a certain story and it's something different. Take it for what it is and I think it's a good entry into the series, story-wise.

As hideo kojima's last game and the supposed link between big boss's story and Metal Gear on MSX, it' fails utterly. But that isn't really what it is, that's just some marketing speak.

posts like these are kind of reassuring tbh.
I just wanna play more of the game though so I can finally judge it for myself. School shit is preventing me from doing so.

The real shame is that "weird placement of a song" has dominated the discussion of what is such a wonderfully designed mission. Shortly after starting mission 30 I took a look around and realized it was a pretty great location. As much as I love Fulton balloons and the buddy system they can both trivialize the difficulty of the game and mission 30 looked like a great place to go retro and ignore both of those things for my first play. I restarted with no buddy and decided not to use balloons and ended up no tracing it. Such an amazing experience.

I just can't get 3 tanks to spawn in the Backup, Back Down mission. It just keeps spawning 2 and it's driving me nuts. It's the only mission task I have left x2.

NVM figured it out.

This morning i played Mission
43
.

In my opinion. One of the most memorable moments in the game so far. Apart from the Prologue and the Phantom Limbs. It was beautifully done.

This links to the spoiler thread where i discuss it a bit and show some pics.

I wish the game had more moments like this. Ground Zeroes had more of this tbh.

Some notes, spoilers obviously.
One thing i will say tho... i do think that this mission would've been more interesting and hit heavier, if you had to put down one of your buddies. Like Doge i guess. Even tho the Parasite is only for people.

Guys I'm having trouble wrapping my head around something from MGS4. I'll spoiler tag just in case.
What exactly is in the syringe that Snake uses? There are so many confusing things about this. For one, Naomi says that it contains the same stuff secreted by the nanomachines into the soldiers AND that it inhibits the ability of the nanos to regulate the senses. So if it stops the nanos from regulating the senses, then why is this secreting in the soldiers? I thought they wanted to be ABLE to control the senses. Also, if this substance contains something to stop regulating the senses which in turn causes the soldiers to go into shell shock, then why do some soldiers (like those with Vamp on the helicopter at the end of act 2) inject themselves with it? And they didnt get shell shock. This shit is confusing.

IIRC, the syringes contain a combination of a drug that simulate the effects of SOP's sensory management and a nanomachine suppressant.

Snake takes them to perk him up when his decaying MGS1 nanos start flaring up. Vamp takes them to suppress his regenerative abilities. Naomi/Liquid & anyone else take them to stop them from freaking out when SOP goes offline. The syringes are 'mimicking' SOP with the pick-me-up drug, which is what Naomi later overdoses on in Shadow Moses- rather than super-mega-fast cancer.

I have no fucking idea to be honest. That still doesn't answer why one is enough to render Vamp a 'mortal' but not enough to kill Naomi outright.

Screw it, the answer is: Kojima

the shot suppresses the nanomachines. That's all you need to remember. When Liquid does those tests, the nanomachines that regulate the soldiers memory, mood, emotions etc, are disrupted, causing the soldiers to go crazy. If you give yourself the injection, your nanomachines get suppressed and you are not affected by the disruption.
