when mgs 1 came out, i was 10 years old but didnt play it until maybe 2 years later or so.
my first real contact with the game was on a demo disc and i was hooked right away... the atmosphere was just awesome.
when i finally played the full game, i think a lot of story details and references went over my head, because i was too young at the time to fully grasp it's greatness.
but nonetheless i had a lot of fun and it made me a life-long fan of the franchise.
so i'd say, show it to him and look how he's reacting. but i guess mgs 2 and 4 could be a little much at this age.
He plays pretty much everything I recommend to
him but I think some of his current favorites are smash 4 and rocket league. I doubt he has ever played anything quite like mgs.

Let him play ground zeros and go from there? another may go like "hardcore" and say to your 12yr old brother to go play the very first MGS but pfft stick with the more recent titles.

Just spent three hours watching (and a little hands on for about 20mins) with the PS3 version, its pretty alright on last gen. I didn't expect it to be that good but it certainly impressive as hell for last gen.
It's not as impressive visually as the PS4 gameplay we have seen but it's a stellar effort considering the requirements they had to work it.

The no pre-load really sucks for people with slower internet. Right now I'm fortunate as I've get 13MB/s download from Steam, but that will drop down soon as my 'speed boost' period ends in December with my provider. I still can't fathom why that decision was made.
It's the thing I hate most about games I get super hyped for. I still need to finish Type-0 but I can't bring myself to bother playing it.

no preload is stupid they could of gotten it working if they tried.
Honestly, right now I miss the fact I'm not working. The days just seem to drag on forever.
No preload is probably one of the two silliest decisions they could make for PC players. Sure, pushing the release date forward to match the console release was great, and I'm really happy.
Only select territories get a physical PC copy. Have slow internet, but no physical copy in your territory? Tough shit, you're not playing at launch.
No physical PC copy means no PC Collector's Edition, which as of right now, means no CE exclusive DLC (I want that Rex hat, dammit!) Though I expect that to change, I don't see Konami leaving money sitting on the table.
No staggered midnight launches only screws over people in places like NZ and Australia, most of those poor PC players won't get to play until 9/2.
Even if the lack of pre-load was because they're working on the game up to the wire, as it were, I'm sure most people would rather download 2-5 GB on launch rather than 20+.
C'mon now. You know consoles getting a pre-load but PC not is kind of silly.

That was certainly an interesting situation all around. I imagine Peeler has had to block a fair number of twitter users thanks to their colorful use of language due to the game not unlocking at midnight NZ time now.
I'm currently at Act II and I'm still loving it to my surprise. To be frank, I don't quite remember why I can to dislike the game so much, it might have been Big Boss showing up by the end that single-handedly did it back then.
I even forgot that colonel Campbell got together with Rose lol. It's just great seeing all of the characters I grew up with evolved and all well.
I don't even bother with the whole nanomachine explanation at this moment, but again, I havent been introduced to all of the crazy that is going to go down yet.

but to be fair, he never should have said anything about the new zealand unlock time if it wasn't a sure thing. he did an even worse job of explaining about what the unlock time on the steam store meant too.
not that this excuses abuse, of course.

His explanations were pretty vague, and kind of showed a lack of understanding of how Steam handles releases. I'd put the blame on who was giving him the information, though.

considering tora was giving us the same info, it's definitely on the digital team that goofed or was giving out incorrect information. that said, information that vague and loose about the launch time is acceptable like, a month or two weeks before release. four days before launch though? shoddy.
still, at least it's september 1st. thinking about it, i'm not surprised they pushed the pc version forward. didn't konami's last earnings meeting show they made more money on pc than on xbox one?
I am surprised they did, just going by the sheer number of people who were willing to double dip just to play for two weeks until the PC version launched, then start over on PC. Didn't know about the earnings meeting tho, if that's the case its interesting.
