Metal Gear Solid V E3 2015 Trailer

So do you guys think that another conference will have some game play? MGO stuff, maybe?

I wish, but Sony's not gonna show another trailer and they're probably not gonna do another 5min demo when journos have played the game for like 15 hours.

The fact that the gameplay maestro's Jackie and Sean Eyestone are at E3 to represent the MGSV team should give a hint also famitsu said a gameplay presentation is coming.

My guess is at sony's press conference.

We should also get something from MGO.

The moral of MGS2, or at least one of them, was that all narrators and narratives are unreliable because... it's fiction! Canonicity is a farce, All that matters are the thoughts and feelings it inspired in you.

Yea, but just talking about MGSV and the characters we are dealing with, there is some serious mental trama that everyone is going through.

And I have to say, the unreliable narrator trope is one of my personal favorites, cause the craziest shit can happen completely legitimately.

Uh can someone pm or post hereme wtf is going on in this trailer and whos who? Evidently I really can't recall shit. And wtf is sticking out of his head?! Im so lost right now it's not even funny haha oh man

I loved The Evil Within for this.

Was so great. On the surface, it was so shit. But there was a thread where people finally decoded it and it was seminal

Damn you, Kojima, you glorious bastard!

I have both New Order and Joy Division songs stuck in my head because of the trailer. I was not expecting this when I started watching the trailer.

But I mean, it makes sense that an 80s song would be used in a trailer for a game set in the 80s.

:lol

I forgot I was supposed to jerk over this incoherent nonsense, sorry guys.

It's a trailer, dawg.

It's not going to tell you the story, it's going to tease you the story. Of course it's not all going to make sense.

MGS3 had the same sorts of trailers, and it had a gloriously coherent and... Generally glorious story

Haha when you said it was your mistake you forgot the second quote tag for the guy you were quoting

All's well buddy, hope you enjoyed the trailers :)

Edit: it's happened again for you above, Preview stuff before you post it

Oh thanks! I'm using Google Chrome now and the spoilers and quoting is not working properly for me for some odd reason when compared to Firefox. Also, MGS trailers are just too good!!

Edit: Now it working properly!!

If you think this is incoherent then you must be really confused when you see movie trailers.

Are all movie trailers full of half baked ideas thought up on a whim every couple of years after deciding 'no no, that was the last one', with barely any hint of narrative and instead just philosophical nonsense masquerading as such?

Only Terrence Malick trailers.

MGS is too incoherent as a narrative. Too many ideas going on that Kojima's only half-thought about instead of making sense of a few strong ones. It's why 3 is good and 2 and 4 and much of the side material isn't.

These trailers are amazing! I'm glad the collector's edition has the trailers on a bluray disc! The music really fits those trailers!

it's funny the trailers imply there's a good amount of story yet the previews say there's hardly any 15 hours in. The game is either long as fuck and/or the cutscenes are all squished into a few big ones.

MGS2 is brilliant you dingleberry.

It's looking like its probably going to be the former

long as fuck

Edit: or they cut a lot out of the preview build that journalists played, but i doubt that

It's not that you don't like it, it's that the reasons you stated for not liking it make you sound lame as hell. Drive by comments calling things pretentious or psuedo-intellectual ironically come off as both of those things.

He was blonde originally and dyed his hair after the briefing in MGS 1.

Are we sure about that?

The Mission Briefing video seems to be in night vision. Night vision makes everyone look blonde.

Why would Snake dye his hair if he doesn't even know about Liquid? Would the Colonel just say, hey, dye your hair for this one?

I think a better explanation would be that Snake's hair grew darker as he aged, Liquid's did not. Plenty of blonde kids have their hair darken to near brown into adulthood. Heck, I was one of them.

Awesome trailer btw. Made me think of Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson.

this trailer is so depressing.

geoff's comments before the trailer aired really shed some light on kojima's situation right now too.

Oh, Kojima absolutely fed his personal feelings into this trailer.

I mean, the entire first half about taking language and homes away can easily be used to describe the situation with Kojima and his studio.

Like, MGS has the most critical fanbase of any franchise on earth. A good half of the community is dedicated just to talking about how the series should have ended in 2001 and begging Kojima to stop making more Metal Gear games. If your criticism gets shot down in these threads, it's definately not because of fanboyism.

Drive by? I've stayed and posted a few more times, unlike people who have posted only once in the thread (so fit the definition of drive by more), but happen to be positive.

If I say the word 'egg', am I an egg?

I mean, for somewhere that prides itself on being a nexus for intelligent discourse, everyone seems to really dislike when Metal Gear gets some criticism for a trailer like this.

C'est la vie. Bye guys. Enjoy your game.

Another good shout. One of my favourite opening chapters to a book, ever.

I think it's interesting that language is a thematic through line whilst there are clear references to some literary classics: Moby Dick, 1984, Lord of the Flies, and Nova Express.

I wouldn't be surprised if the overall moral is "Turn off your console... and read some books." XD
