Played about 5 hours today. Gameplay is so good.

Intro was alright. I didn't really like the overly long
crawling sequence.

Question: how do you fast travel on the map? Riding my horse around doing main missions and side stuff is fun, but a little tiring.

I'm 4 hours in and I am legit loving this, really like the mission structure and I like how the side missions can be done in any way without hurting your rank. I just wish I could have more fultons early on

With the Ground Zeroes save upload, when do I get those guys at Mother Base? I've been looking for names I recognize like Pulitz, but nothing. I've only completed up to learning the base so far.

So I was about to finish this one mission where you have to destroy a bunch of tanks in a time limit and I must of died (or just restarted from a checkpoint) so many times. I finally did it, got up in the chopper and everything seems ok when suddenly some fucking tank blows up the chopper >:|
Was probably a good thing though as I came back and managed to kill all the tanks, rescue the prisoner, and kill the extra tanks and chopper too.

Is the only way to change your clothes/arm/etc... by requesting drops? I wanted to check out some of my new uniforms last night, but ordering a drop ever time I wanna see a new camo is a bit much.

-Mechanically the game is second to none. The controls, AI and everything are refined to absolute perfection.

-Not a big fan of the intro... It was OK but Kojima was outNaughtyDoged

Also I think the first proper mission was not good for an introduction to the game. Esp the last part which I brute forced.

All I think about is my next gaming session!

Each main area has a delivery point (like a yellow/orange metal slab on the floor), you need to collect the delivery note, then you can use them to travel via Cardboard Box.

Why does Kojima use the Midge Ure version of The Man Who Sold the World? According to Wikipedia that was released as a bonus track on a re-release of Ure' The Gift in 1996 and wasn't part of the original 1985 album, whereas the game takes place in the 80s.

Just seems weird since Kojima is really good about details.
He's a big Midge Ure fan and met him fairly early during the development of this game.

Nope, I'm out. I haven't enjoyed any of the 6 or 7 main missions I've done, nor the bland, empty environment you have to traverse to get to them. Watching Mother Base grow is probably pretty cool if you can stick with it but I'm just not prepared to grind a load of boring missions to get there.

I'm also not really into the more recent Peace Walker/ Ground Zeroes timeline, so that isn't doing it for me either.

Fuck! I was really looking forward to it too!

Man I'd hate to know what other people's thoughts on other MGS openings. I think people are confusing best of all time with best of all time compared to other MGS openings.

I thought it was a good opening for this style of cinematic games, maybe not ND levels, but better than most other attempts in cinematic games, it was a very well done sequence, though obviously a little limited.

But really the game started to shine after the intro, it felt so fresh.
Not that the intro is bad, I really think that other than ND it is one of the best in this style, it's just that it wasn't too groundbreaking compared to the free open world gameplay that came afterwards.

Kojima has done such a good job, I'm in love with this game (so far), never should have doubted such a brilliant designer.

So I have a question about mission 3. I never alerted anyone, extracted the person instead of killing, never killed anyone, or set off an alarm.... yet I got a B.

Is it because it took 25 minutes? Or is it only possible to S rank something by doing the side missions also?

Just was confused because that was the best I have ever played lol. Even took tons materials and music.

The intro credits to every mission was a very stupid idea and I hate it. I wouldn't mind them on a 2nd playthrough, but it literally kills all the surprises of the mission and is not fun. Especially considering they show the same damn credits after you finish a mission. SO STUPID.

Yeah and they don't even come up in one area of the screen, so you can't just focus on a different part, you have to completely look away. It's as if they thought of that, "Looks good but instead of them only showing up in the bottom right, have them pop up all over, randomly, so they're impossible to miss."

A patch with a toggle option would be very welcome.

yeah, I can already see how this chopper in chopper out stuff is gonna get old fast..

no reason for the game to not be able to skip em really. bummer.

Asked this before but it got lost in the shuffle. Is there any way to head into the open world without a mission selected? Brad seemed to think so in the GB quick look.

I really wasn't sure if I was going to like this, I've played and greatly enjoyed the other MGS games but they've never been great to play especially coming to them late in the game. And I didn't like Ground Zeroes much either, the gameplay was very solid but the tiny map made me feel like I couldn't do anything.

All that to say that holy shit I'm in love with this game. The movement, gunplay, AI, freedom, etc is so wonderful and exciting. The open world combined with the multitude of tools and quality of the stealth just makes for pure joy. It's basically made me realize for the first time that I really do like stealth games when they are this good. I've only played 4 or so hours and I'm completely hooked. I just want to play more. Hurry up long weekend.

When you're selecting a mission, you can select a side op. They don't trigger until you're in the area, so you can touch down anywhere....

I'm also thinking L1/R1 or equivalent let you select other pages, maybe there is a deploy option?

All of that is kind of over my head but I'll look for them. Thanks.

Once you see one, you'll know exactly what you're looking for. If in doubt, on Mother Base beside each of the main helipads, there's one to the side of it. You can use them to fast travel MB as well.

Chopper what out exactly? You can stay in the open world and select your next mission after beating one.

Is there any way to force it to send all new recruits to the waiting room rather than it automatically filling in? I wanna micro manage like I did with Peace Walker. >_>

The people saying that kojima out naughty dogged ND probably like fancy pyrotechnics because the TLoU intro is at a whole other level than this self indulgent lens flare wank.

In over 20 hours of gameplay im at 17% and the prologue has been the weakest part of the game for me. Everything else has lived upto the hype. Im just trying to convince those who bailed on this franchise after MGS4 that just make it through that prologue to enjoy the rest of this impressive game (mechanically and technically fantastic).

No, I mean you should try replaying it now.

The way the game is structured, it doesn't seem like you should be able to permanently miss anything.

If I can replay it with a different outcome, that would change a lot!!!!!

Ill check when i get home. Can anyone confirm that If I play Episode 11, and choose a different outcome, that I can continue from episode 18 and those changes will stand?

I fucking hate the skulls.

Can someone help me with the

Fight where I have honeybee

I opted to run and get a bit of distance between myself and them, use the honeybee when you have a bit of space between you and the SKULLS. Take cover if you need to to recover if you're injured. Also, if they run at you, you have a split second to use CQC to defend yourself.
