Here's a question for all of you: at what point can you go into the spoiler thread? Like, when will I have "finished" the game? do I need to 100% it? 75% it?

Quick question. I'm a few missions in, and just about to run out of ammo for the Wu Silent Pistol. How do I get more? Do I have to find it, or can I R&D it?

The real story of MGS5 will be the massive backlash it gets on this forum after people begin finishing it.
Yuuuuuuup. As someone who is really enjoying it (even the story), I'm looking forward to it.

I'm also looking forward to it getting voted GOTY by the community two seperate times despite the backlash

Okay, just finished Episode 11 and started 12. Updated impressions:

Some good old Metal Gear business in there. Snake even spoke! Whoah! Quiet's arrival on the base had been shown in a clip before release, but it was cool to see it in context especially since it's the first cutscene in a while. Like the friction going on with Miller not wanting her around. Then moving on to the 'power plant' which is hiding a cool secret! Extra weird that Otacon's dad has the same VA as Otacon (nice to hear him), and that they got Kiefer for Snake. Metal Gear has shown up and I feel like the reason anything is happening has been drawn into at least soft focus now. I am guessing this story level doesn't keep up and it'll be back to missions soon, but I'm enjoying this stuff.

How do I get
The Final Countdown song? It's playing right now on the medical platform but how do I get it?

I found it in the field in one of the radios in an enemy outpost/base in an early mission. I can't remember exactly which one but I'm sure if you google it you'd be able to find the specific mission and l location.

Edit: this game is so amazing. I am really enjoying it. I've had the last few days to myself and no work so I've been able to put in a lot of quality time, something I'm not able to do that much anymore. I can't wait to see what's ahead and unlock more items. Also looking forward to going through missions again using different tactics.

I have not once connected to the god damn servers no matter how often I try. Good job Konami. I couldn't buy your shitty coins even if I wanted to.

The funny thing is, I got connected for a bit last night and I ended up quickly disconnecting as the online lagged the Mother base menu.

how many missions there are?

I've read online
there are 47 story mission and 150+ side ops. Not too mention the other stuff you can do as well. Again this is what I've read online so I'm not sure it's 100% accurate but I didn't see anyone disputing it.

So I just had a looooong winded (mission 11)
The End style war of attrition against Quiet haha. My dinky tranq pistol vs her rifle. The cutscenes following were all really sick, but what do you get for just running past her in comparison?

With 30 hours in this game I have to say that the gameplay of MGS5 is the best of the series. So much fun invading enemy bases and fulton them. Now that the AI begun to show enemies with helmets and NVG all the time, I decided to strike back and make deployed mission that cut their supplies. This game is amazing and I'm still at mission 17 and I've done 57 side-ops.

so is there a legit hard difficulty mode that you can toggle for any missions like in ground zeroes or does the higher difficulty come in the form of the adaptive ai and osp and perfect stealth? there are so many conflicting reports about it

I'm so terrible at MGS stealth. Really wish the enemies I knock out or put to sleep don't get back up.

Standing in the box + soldier poster/sticker = walking full speed up to everybody and having them salute you when they see you and immediately turn around. It's broken as hell. Add the sneaking suit and I generally don't even bother marking most of the time.

Mission 18, just all around spoilers about it.

Just how I apporeached it, first try at the second camp, where the kids are, first I use stealth and failed, so just said fuck it and went with brute force, I have a grenade and rocket launcher as my main weapons so ill equipped I'm not.

Got to the kids with no real problems, that cutscene there, I really thought Snake shot them, the part afterwards has one of my favorite momments so far, my plan is to kill my way through just as before, so called for ammo and for Quiet to help out get everyone out of my path, the way I got pass through that has to be one of my favorite moments of any game yet.

Also something interesting I noticed, the are of operations is shaped like a diamond.

This game isn't very fulfilling as MGS5, but is a pretty fantastic Peace Walker 2.

I think we've known for a while that Kojima has wanted to step back from Metal Gear and I think this game shows it. It's a fantastic game but it's the anti-thesis of every other MGS.

about the medical bay
how the hell is pax alive. Is it some very clever video editing. Pretty sure I saw her dead in ground zeroes. It was a mind fuck. After that guy spoiling bout Paz I thought she was a clone or something. How is she alive or is kojima just trying to change story

How do I use the binocs to order in a supply drop? Do I have to use the marker function and then supply drop onto that?

Question about Mission 6:
I've been wandering around this underground spring for an hour. What is a honey bee, and where is it?

Mission 11 Quiet Question:

I accidentally killed her (pulled the right trigger on my controller on accident) after putting in a shitton of work tranqing her. Can I redo the mission and have her join my team or am I screwed?

Boss is either hallucinating or having his mind fucked with. I am certain it's not real.

I think I've realized that after playing this up to mission 22 for about 40 hours I really don't care about the story in this game. Whether it was good or bad, a lot or a little, it's an in between game.
MGS3 showed where everything started, which was exciting.
MGS4 is the most recent game in the timeline(I Love MGR, but that's a spinoff). At the time that was really exciting.
And Peace Walker was really fucking boring and bad to boot.
If there were more cutscenes and dialogue in MGS5 it personally would have been for the worse. It just doesn't matter. The story is so close to the original MG that we can see it in the distance. Even before the game starts we know everything already.

The only thing interesting about MGS5 and Peace Walker story wise are the retcons and the "cute" references to the other titles that they're going to use to tie the games together. Those are the only things I look forward to and they're pretty much the only reason these Big Boss games exist. Other than that these games don't have anything more to say. Peace Walker tried and I hated it for it. I'm glad MGS5 just rolled with the obvious and got that shit out of the way. The only reason for this game to exist is for gameplay. And it does that well, even if it feels like they're using the Destiny system of making the game long.

The few cutscenes in here are pretty good though. They're like little nuggets of goodness. Which can't be said of most of the cutscenes of the other titles in the series.

at least stuff was happening constantly in PW.

I mean, stuff is happening here, but it's spaced pretty far apart, and also Big Boss is like a deafmute or something.

Also Miller has been cartoonishly angry so far but, let's be fair, he's an angry dude

Is it actually possible to do mission 8 without missiles? Those tanks are tough. Luckily my R&D department got to the right level in the middle of the mission and I was able to get them through a supply drop. I went in thinking C4 and a grenade launcher would be enough, but nope

Dead

well not really...yet
Was free roaming and triggered mission 11 early :0

Character spoiler:
emmerich is a side ops??? Seems fairly important for a side mission...

MMarston

Was getting caught part of your plan?
Soooooooo anyone got a vid of that (easter egg spoiler)
Big Boss not showering scene version with Quiet involved?

Because it sounds hilarious and I want to see it ASAP.

I know I keep saying it but good god this fucking music!!! (obviously don't read the YouTube comments). Who is Ludvig Forssell seriously? Why have we never heard of him? Also if he's writing stuff like that, I need BioWare to hire this man for Andromeda.

I did this just now with C4 and grenades. I killed the guards waiting for the tanks and basically just chased them while planting C4 on them. It took three to kill one. Then I called a supply drop and chased after the truck, hopped on it while it was still moving, placed C4 on it, blew it up, caught up to the second tank, a fucking sandstorm hit, placed more C4 on it, it wasn't enough but I was able to run circles around it thanks to the storm, finished it off with grenades. It was amazing. Got an A rank, no alerts.

Boss is either hallucinating or having his mind fucked with. I am certain it's not real.

The talk between Kaz and Ocelot in that scene about her trauma causing this disassociative break/a new personality is just too convenient. I'd agree that Boss is either imagining it, still in a coma or dead at this point. Everything is just too strange and dreamlike. I trust 0% of what I've played to be real.
