Metro Exodus |OT| Epic Game!

I'm part of the problem. I was going to wait to get the game "by other means" but i really dislike doing that nowadays. Bought the fucking game.
Nice intro. Great atmosphere. I'm very early in the game but i'm enjoying it so far.
The game doesn't have FOV option and you can't change the language. The Epic launcher doesn't allow you to change language either. And it lacks a built in fps counter.

I totally dig this. Folks that are down in this just had no idea what to expect from an Eastern European developed game.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
Apart from forcing you to use their joke of a service, absolutely nothing.
What’s so bad about it? I click on the game, it runs. It does what it’s supposed to do.

Would the Steam version cook bacon for you? If so I’d be pretty mad about not being on Steam.

This game is great. I'm wondering does anyone have an issue where its turning off your 1x saying its not vented enough? Mines done it like 5 times and its out in the open

Dust in the vents? I take a soft cloth to my XBO every now and then.

I had the game freeze on me last night.
Where you're shooting behind the glass and there's enemies on top of the train. There's an explosion towards the end and everything froze. I could walk around but I couldn't shoot or do anything. I just had to reload my checkpoint.

Omg, This game has been flying under my hype radar up to the release. Now it’s the game I want to spend most time in this spring. Don’t know why I’ve haven’t been more hyped since I played the previous ones, and liked them a lot. Hope they fix the black chrush on The Xbox X.

I mean, the good ending doesn't show it so you could make the argument that in that version of the story, it didn't happen.
The bad ending is the one that shows that, though.

Having a child is part of the 'bad' ending...I knew it, more proof to convince my wife

Has anyone else been experiencing crashes? The game has frozen 5 or 6 times in as many hours. I just lost almost an hour of progress because it wouldn’t let me save, autosave didn’t work and then it crashed. On XB1X. I think I’ll wait for a patch before continuing.

Did you... uhm... not read my comment? I said "absolutely nothing".
As in, I expect a PC port of a game to behave the same way whether it was from Steam, GOG, or Epic.
I was pointing out that the only thing Epic is doing different than Steam is forcing you to use their objectively inferior service.
Their anemic launchers is so bare bones compared to Steam that they have to force into using it by engaging in exclusivity contracts.

Nothing says "fair competition" quite like creating a monopoly.
And no, Steam being the biggest store front on the market doesn't make them a monopoly.

Just started playing this, can’t wait to see how it is! Enjoyed the other two games. Incidentally, I’ve got a code for Metro 2033 Redux that came with my copy (UK) if anyone wants it, because I’ve already got the game?

Game is excellent so far. Other than Artyom having slow moving speed while in combat, I'm loving the mess out of it. I'm only an hour or so in though.

I'm two missions in and I wondering why I bought this game.

It gets better, right?

Sterling released his Jimpressions and his opinion pretty much mirrored my thoughts where the sluggish movement of Artyom just doesn't work well in these big environments. For me it's been especially frustrating in trying to jump over something 1ft tall and Artyom will just get stuck and fall, oh and he also can't seem to go down stairs without falling down like an old woman at times.

So what's up? The first two hours of this game are actually horrible.

I don't mind the linearity, but the writing and story setup is this in a nutshell:

I already switch over to the Russian VO since the English actors are about as insufferable as they come. Gameplay is too slow and at no point I feel like I'm in really control of Artyom. I really do hope that the game gets better, but as of right now this is just another example of reviewers not being able to actually review shit. Just slap some nice looking graphics on your game and you got your 80+ rating secured. Meanwhile ambitious shit like Kingdome Come struggles to crack mid 70s.

On One X here. Anyone else having performance and freezing issues? I was exploring a little bandit camp and it started raining...stuttering and hitching followed. Then I died. Loaded back in and the game froze.

Any others experiencing this?

So I was gifted the game on Xbox. I played the last two games on PC. They were always good to me, not amazing but a solid game and a good time. So far I’m having a hard time getting into this.

Most of it may be because I’m playing on XBX vs PC. The controls are super sluggish and I have the sensitivity turned all the way up. That’s my biggest issue with gameplay.

My other issue is with his Wife almost running the show. It’s that typical game tutorial situation where you are the best of the best but yet you are being shown and told what to do by someone else. Hoping she isn’t always with the main charcter. It’s a bit more entertaining to creep through areas figuring things out vs being told hey go to that ladder and go do thing. Now sneak past them. Now go here. Go there.

It’s irritating. I hate games that hold your hand even when disguised In this manner.

Thanks you. I cleaned and it seemed better

What is wrong with this games controls, feels like my gun weighs 100 pounds and he can barely turn even at max sensitivity

Me too. It’s not enjoyable to play. I’m maxed too and it still is horrible and feels like game mode isn’t on the Tv

The team is aware of the control issues. I’m just gonna wait to play it until they fix it.

I'm on X and haven't had any issues so far thankfully. I like it so far, the gfx are nice and sharp and its fun to just explore and take my time when allowed. I'm not totally keen on the rollercoaster cinematics, that is to say, where they take control away from the player for a pseudo-3d glasses wow the monster is totally in my face moment. I'd settle for at least QTE's in these segments rather than "am I playing" moments. Its why I much prefer most third-person titles because they often just switch to a cutscene or can fluidly switch between full player control and a more linear set-piece. The approach in this game feels very CoD4-esq, at least in that it thinks I still find it impressive 12 years later. /Rant

Despite that being my only complaint I think its a good slower paced title.

Thankfully doesn't occur on PC. There is a weird thing, though, where the volume switch on my keyboard doesn't work while the game is on.

If anyne happens to be playing the PC version with a controller, is the slow turning still the same as on console?

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Hope someone makes a good tweaking guide, the options are so barebones, I hope I can get a good balance with 60 fps eventually. I get that most of the time on High settings but I'm sure if tweaking is possible I could reduce some less noticeable things further yet increase texture quality and other things as I have plenty VRAM and such for example. I don't know why they don't include some more advanced options but oh well. The game seems pretty good so that's a plus. I have it on Steam btw. Anyone know if SSD would help with some hitches?

You can change the language (only on Steam?), both text and audio separately (audio only on the main menu, not after going in game). I'm playing it in Russian audio but the subtitles can be easily missed in some instances with multiple people talking. It still feels nicer.

Ok, so I'm in the first open area and I'd really love a way to mark a location on my map, just so the compass will point there instead of at the main objective constantly.

Otherwise, I'm enjoying it although I need to revisit some areas since it didn't occur to me to dismantle enemy weapons for parts. Plus, I was pretty overwhelmed and kind of rushing thru.

Did any review mention the control issue? If not they should be fired. Lol. This is unplayable.

All i had to do was scroll down in the options. Thank you.
Localization in my language is poor. I'll try russian audio with subtitles in english.
One of the voice actors voiced the traitorous communist guy in metro last light. In metro exodus he voiced two different characters so far. It's immersion breaking.
I swear i heard him in one of the stalker games as well.

In English the person who voiced the doctor at the beginning in this game voiced many characters in the other Metro games (it sounded like it anyway). I stuck with English in Last Light because subtitles were not always available (due to glitches or multiple people talking) and it seems the same in Exodus.

It's playable ish with ultra settings in 4k ultra rtx with a 2080 ti but I haven't gotten to any big action sequences yet. Apparently DLSS breaks HDR making it not an option but I may change to 80 resolution scale if I'm getting frequent drops below 30. Not ideal performance but it's significantly better than playing Crysis back in the day on an 8800GTS with massive input lag because I didn't want to turn down eye candy.

Left Volga. Good game so far. It is a bit confusing as the game gives no markers and gives very little information on the tasks.

I have wasted alot of time figuring out railway tracks and how they work, but it surely adds to the over all experience.

Also difficulty is weird here. Some human enemies are cakewalk, some are hard.
Edit: Or maybe it's my guns. I have also noticed how enemy can shoot me and I can aim at him, while crouched and stable, but my shots miss, yet their connect. Again, it could be the guns and their range/spread/recoil. But idk if the guns are actually that realistic or is it just a bug or something.

Love the world so far. Story seems good but it's a bit.. videogamey in the sense of how it unfolds. Audio quality is not good.

Sensitivity for the Aiming in general needs to be way faster its really annoying. I tolerated it in the last two games but this is the 3rd game now and its 2019. Aiming on consoles shouldnt feel this bad.

Can you elaborate? Not sure I know what you're talking about here.
In Volga, the part where you have to attach railcar to passenger cabin. If you speed through even after changing the tracks, it will continue to hit the blockade. I had no idea I had to slow down so I wasted around 2 hours finding another lever to change tracks, which I thought was needed. Had to see a walkthrough, felt stupid.

So i added the Epic version to steam as a non steam game. So i can use the steam interface and fps counter. But then the save file is missing. Explain that to me please.
