Well yeah hopefully. If they didn't have the thing where every single room in each level is unique I think I'd be devastated lol.

I always loved how no two rooms were the same, while maintaining a cohesive and logical look and style to any pair of rooms within a level/environment. There was no copy and pasting in those games.

I remember stopping to take in every detail of every room. I remember having favourite 'little rooms' - how many games can you say the art direction or architecture and interior design of one tiny insignificant room was so striking that you declared it the best room yet to yourself, you know?

They would weave in the design motifs throughout every space so well.

So every new space was interesting to look around. Even the ceilings and floors. You could see the love and care put into every space by the environmental artists and level designers.

The art direction in these game has always been incredible.
They felt exceptionally lived in and believable. Rooms almost always have a logical purpose with discernible infrastructure, technology etc.

They really sold the fuck out of those worlds with that combo of meticulous level design, art and music. The first few Tomb Raider ganes had the same magic for me despite being more abstract.

Damn. I guess that's what I'm getting, then.
I don't think the part about the download code is correct.

All Switch 2 Edition games (from Nintendo) have come with everything included on the cartridge iirc. So you should be able to pop it in on launch day and play the Switch 2 Edition out of the box without any updates/download etc.

People keep saying she is going to the past but I dont think so.
That's probably based of off the interview with Tanabe from 2015.
Speaking with Tanabe, it was clear he had plenty of ideas for the game, including a focus on a single planet that has a time-shifting mechanic, similar to Metroid Prime 2 Echoes single planet with dark and light variants.
But of course time travel can be used in lots of ways. If they're sticking to the above it sound to me that we maybe never leave the initial planet in the game's intro. It might just be the same place represented at different points in time.

The hot theory right now is Tanamar and Viewros are the same planet. One in the past and one in the future.

Could just be that the relic is just a teleporter on the same level as a Portkeys from Harry Potter or Portals to different worlds like in Turok.

But if it turns out it's a Black Hole deal it could be a parallel dimension.

Can't wait to find out.

I thought it was just the artifact created a wormhole connecting two points in spacetime so far apart that no ship with their current technology could ever make the trip. With Viewros likely being in a completely different galaxy. All the Metroid games do take place in the Milky Way.

The artifact is clearly warping the space in a large radius. I think time and space will be a big factor.

Either that or it's a weapon that imprisons an entire Planet. Similar to the Rakatan Mind Prison from Star Wars EU.

I think translocation and a time warp is more probable.

Tanabe said in a interview he wishes he could have done MP2's Light and Dark World better and I think that will be illustrated with MP4.

No one knows what's what. We haven't played it. Since when was speculation about games not allowed?

You yourself have quoted somebody talking about plot ideas for this game. From a decade ago.

Come on, man. The game is out in a week and you're all like, how about we just put all these ideas into every readers head and ruin the surprise?

You realise that not everybody scrutinises every frame of every trailer, pores over interviews etc and so doesn't come to these conclusions?

Seeing how much that light from the artifact covered the base, it would be strange if these are the only troopers stranded on the planet. Even entire ships and giant mech suits got pulled in. Maybe different people got dropped off at different points in time relative to the planet. That ship Mac was on did look aged.

Yeah, a decade ago.. There's no way of knowing if they kept any of those loose ideas. But it's the basis of the speculation since we have nothing else to go on.

If it turns out to be the case that "spoiler" has been in the wild for over a decade. It's not some new revelation.

We've seen from early footage even before the recent overview and teasers that even one of the Federation Mechs was translocated. I'd imagine probably the entire research facility was enveloped. Which you can see here. The radius is huge.

How about we just have a positive title that isn't designed to provoke anybody?

I'm sure the game will have positive things to highlight in the thread title.

NO! 😜

What is the motivation and need to go over the plot for a game that is out in a week?

You (all of you in question) want to work it out before you see it; why? And you want everyone else to see what the plot you think you've worked out is, again why is that?

Speculation about plot = Bad

Crying about Mac and the purity of Metroid = Good

Crazy thought, but how about letting people come to this possible realisation themselves rather than spoiling the possible connection for them?

We're a week from the game and you can't resist doing this. This should be in spoiler tags with a speculation about plot note. Now every single person who sees your post cannot come to this realisation themselves.

I took issue with this earlier on. What is the point of this? Who does this benefit? Anybody who sees this post has this realisation taken from them. For what, a fan dick-measuring contest to see who is the bestest at working out every plot point prior to the game's release?

This is the kind of thing I expect to see in a spoiler tag, post release. At least then I have the chance of avoiding reading it.

You're on a dedicated gaming forum.. Knowing, speculating, and obsessing over every detail of our favorite series is exactly what we do.

Do you also go to forums about movies or TV-series and complain that people speculate about the plot? The next episode might be out in a week after all, so what's the point, right?

I'm not sure how you could expect a group filled with the most dedicated fans not to speculate and discuss every minute detail and possibility.

Fake fans get big mad when real fans do video game stuff and speculate about the plot(this is the fun stuff) before the plot even happens. Fake fans would rather cry about Myles and spoil everyone about Day 1 sales and what number game gets on Metacritic.

Could you imagine naysaying all the speculation with "Project: Dread" or discussing the Origins of Phazon or how events transpired on Tallon IV.

Better not tell them about the Manga either. They would lose their minds.

Oh, stupid me, I thought the fun stuff was playing the fucking game. How quaint of me to think that the game is at the centre of all of this, the actual playing of an actual game. and not all of you trying to impress each other with your level of fandom.

I thought the real pleasure of a good plot was in experiencing it first hand, not trying to construct it wholesale beforehand so that I can show off how much of an ultmate number one mega fan I am online.

As soon as whoever up there suggested the OT be named 'A Samus in Time' I knew that fan speculation must have settled on a time travel plot. I didn't know that before. I don't want to know that, because now I cannot un-know it.

But of course, I'm being incredibly old fashioned by not wanting that. And I learn that this means I'm not a 'real fan', a truly ludicrous and insulting description for somebody is very much a fan of the games. What is this obsession with the Nintendo fanboys in here trying to declare whether people who expressed a love for these games are 'real fans' or not and as such attempting to downplay their contributions to the discussion?

You're so threatened by any negative sentiment expressed towards this game or indeed towards how you discuss it that you're seeking to somehow invalidate people's right or credability in speaking about it.

Fans of the Metroid series shouldn't be advocating to lambast others for speculation and discussion or exploring the world building, lore and characterization of the franchise. Those that do will only find shallow conversation. And that's boring.

And I see nothing wrong with talking about and speculating on official coverage. The trailers and the information on the JP site are all fair game for discussion.

For those that want to go in blind I would highly recommend you blackout on all social media platforms, forums and stay offline. As in the next coming days spoilers(since streetdate by some retailers is clearly broken) will be rampant and there will be no escape from it.

Can you put your fan wank mutual J/O plot speculations based on the feverish examinations by a collective of hundreds of thousands of obsessive fans of every single frame of the game's media, the entire history of the franchise and all known information surrounding it (which means they may hold real weight, actually) into spoiler tags? Is that too much to ask?

Because not all of us are doing that, we're not exhaustively examining and anaylsing everything about the game to, like, pre-game the whole thing. Not all of us are into working out a plot before we are witness to it and like to do this crazy thing were we discuss the plot after we've actually experienced it?

Fans of not ruining other people's ability to go into a game free of knowledge about its plot and contents beyond pre-release media shouldn't be advocating against that.

If you're so upset over pure speculation based on decade-old interviews such that you don't even want to have ideas in your head when you play the game, then why are you in a pre-release thread about it? Go full blackout and get off the internet, or at least gaming forums. Other people aren't required to follow your sensibilities where even speculative possibilities (not even actual leaks) count as spoilers.

People getting the game before release, as has already happened with this game, and posting actual plot reveals? Sure, that's bad. But speculation? That's a you problem.
