Metroid: Samus Returns (Mercury Steam, Metroid 2 reimagining, 9/15) announced for 3DS

(the metroid is squishy)

My heart, this may be the first Amiibo I pre order

Yes Nintendo

Please port this game to Switch, even though the hardware in question is eons apart and it would take a great deal of reworking and money to do, to the point that it would basically be an entirely new development venture

Why won't you do this

Trailer upload on YouTube already has more likes than the Federation Force trailer got over the course of 2 years.

I know it probably means jack shit in the grand scheme of things but it's nice to consider how much the reaction to this differs from Federation Force's announcement.

Giving people what they want tends to generate a positive response!

What?!? Two (I'm hoping) traditional Metroids? This isn't the modern Nintendo I know and resent.

The modern Nintendo I know would just smear some peanut butter on a playing card and slap it on hour forehead. Telling us we should be thankful for anything at all.

Dont get upset when Nintendo doesnt announce another Metroid game after Prime 4 for another 10 years or so.

What if the reviews say this game is amazing please buy it. Will you still not buy? Give the game a chance is all I ask.

Unless the reviews reveal they gave it a sprite art style, I'm very unlikely to have my mind changed. I own all the 2d metroid as downloads on 3ds/Wii u if it makes you feel any better, but I absolutely detest Nintendos insistent use of these 3d models for 2d games.

Then again I did end up buying federation farce when it hit £10 or so even if I never even booted the piece of crap, so I might buy it one day even if I never play it.

On tonight other hand, I can't wait to miss my 28 second window to buy those amiibo -.-

Please tell me it'll use the auto stereoscopic 3D and also take advantage of New 3DS's faster CPU.

Back in 2015 (or maybe 2015) I foolishly hoped two new Metroid games would get announced, 1 for 3DS and 1 for codename NX.

Hot damn!

This looks fun. Looks like a complete re-imagining than a remake--the map was completely different from Metroid II's. Nice to finally see Samus back, and hopefully they can shelve that awful Other M design for good now.

Not keen on the name, but whatever.

Wha? Of the things bad about Other M, Samus' design is not one of them. She's sleek as fuck.

I really liked how they made a cinematic scene like this into a counter instead of a quick time event like so many other games do. I really felt the tension as the girl on the stream was playing and the relief when she got the timing right. It will make playing the game more satisfying since the counter is almost like a finisher where you are rewarded for executing properly.

Man, amiibo and soundtrack. This is like Christmas.

I gotta admit, hearing magmoor caverns' music increased the hype a bit :)

That was kinda worrying to me because it sounded the exact same as Magmoor Cavern instead of being another remix of the Super Metroid original.

Indeed it is, I am happy that they appear to be in touch with what people want, I was really worried Federation Force is gonna be the end for the Metroid franchise so I couldn't be more excited.

If someone told past year me we're getting a 2.5D Metroid in 2017 I would have not believed them.

I go away for a bit and BOOM second Metroid announced!?

It looks like it will be fun. I personally think AM2R looked better but hopefully Nintendo will work their magic and deliver us a great game.

It's like DMC4's Buster Arm and I'm surprised more games haven't taken notes from that game when it comes to stuff like this.

This is cool, but to be honest I am not sold on the game's looks. The graphics are a bit bland. But still, a 2D Metroid is always welcome, especially given that the series seemed dead not long ago.

I'll always welcome more Metroid...but I fundamentally disagree with them not putting this on the Switch in addition to 3DS.

Metroid II is a great one to remake considering how few played it. I'm a huge fan of the series and it's one that I missed.

As a metroid newbie who enjoys metroidvania quite a lot, where can I start with this series? I got a 3DS and getting a switch when MHXX is out.

Super Metroid
Metroid Fusion
Metroid Zero Mission

Get ready for some of the finest sidescrollers around.

Watched the trailer on 3DS and it does look much better than what I saw on my stream. Hyped even more and hope I can get that Limited Edition.
