Some friends of mine are pretty upset by this.
What's the best solution? Casting a black actor in whiteface?
...what are they upset about...?

Just get a light skinned black person, damn
plenty of us out there
you just gotta put in more effort to find us
Michael Jackson in 2001 was not just a "light skinned black person". Whatever the fuck he turned himself into by that time could only be done justice by Andy Serkis in a motion capture suit.
On one hand, it feels weird for a white man to be playing an African-American.
This is a mess. I'm not really sure what should be done though.

I googled it on YouTube to see if there was a trailer or something, but what the fuck is this. That looks awful.
I'd rather a black man in white face.

You want a black guy in white face?
The nose thing might be why they casted voldemort juniorUnless they use CGI or find a dude with a chopped off nose, there's no way to pull off MJ's look from after the early 90's. Don't matter if they're black or white. He wasn't even looking human in 2001 when this movie takes place.

Oh my god.
That... is just... just so bad. Everything about that whole scene is all kinds of wrong. This on par with The Room.
Is the rest of the film this bad?
Prince, but his acting sucks.
