That's what she said. They're in too deep to pull out now...
This is a business and money talks.
It's a contract. There should be no hard feelings if the shareholders decide the offer isn't to their liking after the 18th
Their reputation wouldn't be damaged either - again, they have no obligation to stay after the 18th
EA is trading at a price of 48x earnings
Activision is trading at a price of 39.5x earnings
EA have been trading in the same range throughout the last 18 months if Im not mistaken, why would ABK be any different?
Bobby after the 18th comesSo summary?
I got that the judge wants further evidence to grant the delay of *potential* the appeal.
In any case it doesn't seem like CMA is ready for their new verdict and this won't get solved before tomorrow.
Is Microsoft paying the 3b to Activision anyway?
ATVI's rep would certainly be damaged. Look at the shit thrown at Sony for opposing this deal and ultimately concerns about Sony have been dismissed.
Man you're like 6 alts rolled in to one.Deal will happen. Just a matter of when.
cope harderMan you're like 6 alts rolled in to one.
While I think you're correct I wouldn't discount it entirely as we haven't heard of any extension to the merger. Would have thought some sort of leak about that would have emerged. Maybe Microsoft are closing the deal tomorrow and that's why, we'll see soon enough.lmaoo some people think ABK might walk away? Copium. Merger will happen. Just deal with it.
So because EA has a concerningly high P/E... you think ATVI should sell for more?
lol
You can't just look at P/E like that. Way too many factors.
There's something wrong with the programming on this one boys.cope harder
And I wouldn't be surprised if ABK used the $3 billion to do a stock buy back, boosting share price further. Smart money will buy back-in after the small correction since ABKs output seems really strong in the near future. Retail investors panic selling won't move the price that much. Not likely given EA's valuation
5-10% correction at most
either a close or a extension. I don't think they mentioned closing while investigating at the CAT? So probably an extension. While I think you're correct I wouldn't discount it entirely as we haven't heard of any extension to the merger. Would have thought some sort of leak about that would have emerged. Maybe Microsoft are closing the deal tomorrow and that's why, we'll see soon enough.
And they can go on their brokerage account and liquidate themselves. No need for MS to buy them
The deal was attractive when ATVI traded in the 50s
It's fair market value is much higher than that today
August then. This never ends.
Well, at least I can clean my head of all this stuff as it's for sure going to happen. Now time will do it's work.
That's exactly what they would do, and you know what happens when the available shares start to pile up.
technicality they don't, but to avoid trickery, its better to make a extension.Do they even need an extension, honestly asking.

MS gave Bobby a pretty sweet setup, I think they did that because they know he's a snake. I think he personally will be better with this deal so he won't push any idea of walking.technicality they don't, but to avoid trickery, its better to make a extension.

For Microsoft's position, an extension provides peace of mind.Do they even need an extension, honestly asking.
Whoever was saying that MS will absolutely close over the UK is a real clown.Microsoft-Activision Deal Poised to Close Later Than Planned
- UK veto will prevent closing by July 18 deadline in agreement
- Companies don't intend to walk away, will continue UK talks

Microsoft-Activision Deal Poised to Close Later Than Planned
Microsoft Corp. and Activision Blizzard Inc. are nearing the finish line on their $69 billion deal, but aren’t likely to close it by a Tuesday deadline, people familiar with the deal said.www.bloomberg.com
I just don't think Bobby cares about the $3B on a personal level. He makes out better joining MS. They could do an extension though if they are worried about Apple or Amazon coming in with a better offer but that's super unlikely. For Microsoft's position, an extension provides peace of mind.
For Activision, having no extension might actually enhance their options here (need a lawyer to pitch in here pls), they can cut and run at any moment for 3bn or they can stay the course for 69bn.
This just popped up on my feed. I wonder if there will be more layoffs from redundancies on this deal, or if some of these layoffs are happening in preparation for it.

Well I don't know but sometimes these things come out. You think they are going to close the deal tomorrow? Why would they leak an extension when the expiration date was one of the tools they were using to guide the proceedings toward the end result they wanted? "Time is of the essence" was certainly the sales pitch of the day today.
Well there it is, we don't need to worry about Bobby walking away from the deal.

I've actually seen the music video this gif is from and it's actually awesome

Redundancies happen. Also, it may not even involve it.
Since I left old company 10 years ago, my old coworkers have gone through two giant voluntary layoffs. And if not enough people take it, management then handpicks the rest to be fired. Most of the people gone are voluntary. And most of them were old people who were 50+ years old since they were all pretty similar being part of the 20+ year club getting giant packages to leave. As a ballpark rule of thumb, you get about 1 months severance pay per year of service up to a limit of about two years. At least in the industry I work in. Many of the people taking the package got a new job later in the year! Some retired as the package was that good and they were already in their 60s.
Wow, Amazon swooping in would be something else. Microsoft is good at taking studios and destroying them, but there is no company on the planet that is more capable of absolutely and totally vaporizing an ip/studio like amazon. I'd actually pay to live in the timeline where Amazon bought Actiblizz, because it would tickle my corpo schadenfreude unlike anything else I could imagine.I just don't think Bobby cares about the $3B on a personal level. At some point we'll find out the correlation between firings and Activision roles.Oh for sure. The tone of this particular tweet just suggests that people within MS are shocked at some of the layoffs. This may have fuck all to do with ABK. But I thought it worthy of bringing up, considering large acquisitions frequently lead to layoffs.
He's going to stay on doing that after joining MS, and if they dump him he gets a ton of money. How does Bobby make out better joining MS? He's currently the CEO of the Activison the company that makes the #1 selling video game for the past 10+ years? What is Microsoft offering that's better than that?
